I know I, a 34-year-old- lady, had that book in the late 90s, but I do not remember the nail polishes being acrylics. Now I can't remember if I just got the version that came with no polish, if the polish I did get was real nail polish, or if I just blocked it out completely. I definitely remember using a baby blue polish to make butterflies, though. And we had glitter nail polish for sure then, but I think it was mostly true glitter--Not a lot of holo. ANYWAYS. Thanks for this trip down memory lane!
I had this book (as a 17 year old in 1997) and did the designs all the time! My favorite were the ladybug and dice. But I usually used real nail polish instead of their paints :)
This book brings back so many memories! My stepdad specializes in mechanical engineering for cameras and is super good with fine detail work. He used to paint little ladybugs and paw prints on my nails.🥰🥰
the "vibe" for tutorials was so different: It didn't have to be perfect. Just have fun while doing it (on a rainy day because kids used to go outside to play.)
I was a teenager in the 90s, and the only polish we had access to in my town was the basic red/pink shades you could find in the drug store. No fun blues or even black. We used to mix our own colors by adding acrylic paint and glitter into clear bases.

The ink left deep blue stains that were impossible to get off with nail polish remover. I ended up having to sand the stains off with a nail file. Never again.
@@shawn.spencer I'm glad I edited the comment then, to include the second part. I almost didn't do that.
simply! I actually have an idea for u, if u ever make a beige or a matcha like green shade of nail polish you can call it " tea ya'll later!" ( cause u always say see ya'll later in the outro..)
Can we all just appreciate how pretty Cristine looks with that hair style 🥺❤❤
Cristine: says something about 1997 being 24 years ago.
Me: Wow. That's such a long time ago
Me, born 1998, a few moments later: 👁️👄👁️
Damnnnn I’m from 1998 toooo
Why is this me hahaha
Lmao same! Literally I came into existence in March 1998😂😂😂
June 1998
Same. I'm from 97 and I was like 'Wow 24 years, that's a long time.' and then I realised. I'm turning 24 this year
"If this is released in 2020 it would had Safiya face on it" lol 😂😂
I actually had this exact book as a kid. This brought back some nice memories. 😊
I love how Cristine is wearing this sweater totally hinting the summer creme collection that was released today. So Low-key Sneaky 😎
OH MY GOD she totally is 😂 that's hilarious and brilliant
Yeee!
Right!!??!
Cristine... it tells you about “top coat” on page 8... (it’s labeled as clear polish)
i think they said nail painting is multiplied by 10 because we have 10 fingernails 😂😂 why did it take me so long to understand it HAHAHA
ohhh that makes sense hhhaaha
Omg I didn't even get it... Bet Cristine didn't too haha
I’m living for her outfit and hair

Cristine: does nail art
My brain: *EVERYONE STAY CALM IT'S HAPPENING*
I think this nail art has a charming quality about it's like the illustrations in a children's book. Imagine mothers taking the peelies and putting them in their photo albums and writing "babie's first nail art" lol
@69M views It's amazing! The fact that you can achieve such depth with black ink and charcoal is so cool. Also you have a cute chihuahua
I was born in 2000 and I had this set growing up! Such memories
In today’s edition of Simply nail art: Cristine gets high by smelling acrylic nail polish 💅 from the 90s 😂😂😂
Cristine: “pressure to be perfect didnt exist back then”
~five seconds later~
Cristine: “this isnt about being perfect its about being a kid”

thank you for putting the captions on because i am deaf and some of the videos i watch don't have captions so thank you again!!
She just decided to give us a 90's cristine photo tour with this video.
WOW, this Klutz book (cover #2) was such a formative part of my childhood. I will never forget the number of yin-yang manicures I gave myself with nail polish that shriveled and peeled as soon as you washed your hands
It's nice to see Christine embracing her Rapunzelness, also I am living for that 90s hoodie 😍
i was only allowed to paint my nails nude or light pink and could only do it for special occasions as a child. now I live the holo lifestyle (and my mother hates it)
me "looks like a chromosome"
simply "looks like the x chromosome"

It looked like the old Cingular Wireless icon to me
love how Christine and Saf keep mentioning each other in their vids
Imagine troom troom writing a hack book on nails..... this is it, it's not a problem anymore.

Did anyone else actually have this book as a kid? I remember being obsessed with the little mouse nails at 2:51!! (Also I got my book in like the mid to late 2000s, so that might explain why some of the nail polishes held on - some of the books might be slightly newer.)
The Klutz logo brings back so many memories omg I had dozens of their books
I wasn’t allowed to wear red nail polish as a child because it was too “mature.”
Love the early 2000s
I wasn’t allowed red because it was too mature and black because it was too dark
I’ve always been allowed to wear red but I never do because it gives off “fancy adult” vibes and I’d feel out of place
My grandmother wouldn't let us use red we always had to use pink instead lol
@@emilyinspace2255 my mother let me wear red one time, to match my Valentine’s Day dress. (Yes, she was that kind of mom) and I was absolutely ecstatic.
I’m an early 2000s kid and these books were EVERYTHING. They introduced me to so many types of art, nail art being one of them
When I was a kid I remember I got chapstick from a Barbie magazine (yes, I'm a guy and I used to like them, moving on). I wish I had books like these back then tho.
Ah, I missed "WHAT DO YOU THINK?!" so much. Also peel porn and the peelie bag. I miss that, too.
Back when perfection isn't everywhere and making mistakes while laughing it off is the fun part.
Nope im not that old but perfectionism these days are crazy
She's very talented considering the fact that she's using a toothpick and a children's book from the nineties
@69M views i think you should follow your hearts content, do whatever you want because you can do anything. If people bring you down then you don't listen, do whatever you want:) ❤️edit : I just watched one of your videos and you are literally so talented
In 1997 i was 2, and must ppl here wasnt even burn yet
I just wanna say i painted my nails after a billion years on saturday using your tips. A true nail artist ♥️
Christine: looking at the crazy kids "tag yourself"
Me who is 36: I still use inanimate objects to air guitar so I guess the broom kid
I had this book. It taught me so much. I practically have it memorized. I’ve done every design in it multiple times.
I have been watching you for quite awhile and I have to say your tips on putting a base coat down is genius! I did it the first time on Sunday when I did my nails after buffing them with the emery board. And my nails look amazing! I wish I could put a pic up...but I don't think the comment section will let me. Regardless!! I'm so pleased with how my nails turned out! Thank you for all the tips and tricks you give in your videos! I can't wait to see what other crazy shinanagans you guys get yourselfs into. I hope you continue to stay safe and healthy during this difficult time. Much love, Katie H
Cristine before grade 7 apparently: "goo goo ga ga"
Book : No artist talent required
Simply: perfect 😁😁😁
I had this book (as a 17 year old in 1997) and did the designs all the time! My favorite were the ladybug and dice. But I usually used real nail polish instead of their paints :)
She said "I've been trying to do more nail art" I thought she was gonna say I've been trying to reach you regarding your car's extended warranty.
This book brings back so many memories! My stepdad specializes in mechanical engineering for cameras and is super good with fine detail work. He used to paint little ladybugs and paw prints on my nails.🥰🥰
I love this-what a sweet thing to do with you and to have as a memory.
Y’all at this point Cristine is the only reason that youtube is still a thing
And safiya Nygaad!

Idk cyndee black is pretty cool AND she has a time machine.
I would really love to see the way you regularly polish your nails and what you use. Like polish(base, top coat, etc.)the files and the nail oils 💗
I had this book and used to spend hours making designs!! Nothing has changed- now I am obsessed with Maniology stamps 😅
the "vibe" for tutorials was so different: It didn't have to be perfect.
The wave of nostalgia from seeing KLUTZ BOOKS again...i loved those so much as a kid :,)
I remember getting so excited when my grandparents got me this nail kit. I was so excited to show my friends my terribly painted nails.
I love how she’s like trying to give inspirational speeches throughout the video. Be yourselves kids
