- What is the Green Party US? What are the political views of the Green Party?
In this video I discuss the viewpoints of the Green Party on several different topics. We first look at an overview of the fundamental views of the party itself, including their 4 Pillars. Then we talk about their stances in the following areas:
Taxes - 00:58
Economy - 1:47
Healthcare - 2:36
Civil Rights - 3:20
Education - 4:00
Environment - 4:48
Although there are many other views of the Green Party, this is meant to give a brief and informative introduction to the Green Party's platform.

It's a difference in strategy. They think they can better achieve their goals by working as a faction within the major party.

@@radandsad3245 that is a self fulfilling statement and a defeatist mentality, imo.... if everyone just said screw it we are voting green and the dems can have their corporate thing, focus on constructive momentum and building something solid, rather than fighting the dems, it would be a more effective path i think....i voted for howie. i do not believe voting for who best represents the direction i wish the country to go is a waste of my vote in the least...
@@thespeedofchillax6691 “if everybody did it...” oh and how do you propose getting everybody to vote green? You don’t . Advocate for rank choice voting and maybe it’ll happen 😏
@@disqette "you dont...." because just waiting until ranked choice or range voting or some other better voting scheme is implemented and dwelling in what isnt rather than the reality of what is, in the meantime is such a better way to achieve the goal of getting more ppl to realize its not necessary to buy into the two major party's false dichotomy........
its got to be a much better way to expend one's energy than any number of more constructive and proactive paths, like educational outreach for example and explaining not only the green party us platform to ppl(look at. how many ppl in this comment section alone are just learning about the green party us platform, which is rad that you all are...)
also educating er'one on two ✌🏼 important facts: number one, even if howie doesn't win, if he were. to garner 5% of the nat'l vote, a very achievable goal with the right nat'l effort, the next election the green party would get federally matching funds and also i think may be eligible for a debate or two(don't quote me on the last part)... and secondly explain to those same ppl that there is nothing forcing any of us to vote for one of the two major parties, if we all just stop playing their game there is enough progressively minded ppl, that it would be rendered instantly obsolete. that is just based upon the reality of numbers...
now how to go about that messaging im sure there are those whose forte is communication and public outreach and/or leadership who know how to approach this better than i, but it starts with ppl lime you and i shedding the negative and defeatist mentality and resigning ourselves to waiting around for some change that may or may not happen and expend our energy to work within the framework that is in place currently, because while very far from ideal, it is reality and we all must live in reality and approach it constructively if we hope to have a productive outcome for any effort, including this here topic..... /blahg.

Agree with you though if make one suggestion for an additional slide... a slide dedicated to the pillar of peace/non-violence. This is something that is somewhat shared with the Libertarian Party, but definitely sets them apart from the "Democratic" and Republican parties.
The Green Party...
- Is Anti-War/Military Industrial Complex (cutbacks in spending would be used pay for Medicare for All, free Education, UBI, etc.).
- Supportive of foreign policy that protects people. This includes shifting economic sanctions to countries that commit crimes against humanity (for example: Boycott/Divestment/Sanctions on placed on Israel for their actions for Palestinian subjugation comes to mind. Rather than subsidizing Israel's military, the GP sanction them).
- Suprisingly Pro-Second Amendment, but with common sense gun laws (which I think is a significant difference with the Libertarian Party).
I'm mentioning this here, because I saw Dan respond to you with your post.
I'm not sure if another slide could be added... but if you do ever make updates, Dan, this would be a slide you might consider adding.

Curious as to what items. Please inform us in the spirit of participatory democracy and share your viewpoint.
@@stephenverchinski409 ok, so i know you asked a different comment writer, but since it seems you are asking for input about green party us platforms, there is one item i have seem repeated in many state level green party platforms and heard espoused by at least a few candidates that while good intentioned, is ultimately a very counterproductive approach, which is:
many espouse the complete ban of timber harvesting on public lands in the name of conservation and environmental protection. not only will implementing such a ban create negative consequences, it is in fact potentially very dangerous in regards to the loss of human life, as well as flora and fauna of many forest ecosystems, potentially even leading to their destruction beyond what even clear cutting said forests would produce..... the problem with a complete hands off approach to all public lands, is many forests need to be managed so they don't become overgrown for any number of reasons, whether it be for fire prevention or disease mitigation. selective logging is actually the best management practice for many forests in our country and in those forests allowing limited commercial logging with best forest management practices followed would be the most ideal situation for the health and longevity of the entire forest ecosystem, as well as having the bonus of creating conditions for the most optimal carbon capture by said forests. all of that said, some forests may well be best left completely alone, but this is my main overall concern, is that there needs to be much more allowance for nuance and looking at each public forest as the unique ecosystem that they are, not approaching the issue with a heavy handed approach using a false dichotomy of logging bad, not logging good......
anyway, might seem a bit nitpicky, but the effective management of our public lands is of utmost importance, imo, especially because we are all stakeholders in them.
This was very informative! It was simplistic enough to understand and got the message across. Thanks for that!
No problem! Glad you enjoyed it!

What about anti war, cutting military budget, criminal justice, libertarians also stand for that
I'm libertarian. So naturally you know how i feel about all of this. Thank you for the education.
So u guys don’t want public schools
@@cardboardheadguy7814 Yes, public education is far inferior to private counterparts by miles. The issue is the government has a complete monopoly on education. Public funded schools get special tax cuts or pay none at all and any businesses on their campuses also benefit from this. Politicians both locally and in congress pass zoning laws, and education laws that specifically benefit keeping public schools open over private counterparts. This means in many towns most parents now only have 1 choice for education for their child. A public school.
A majority of "private" colleges also receive all of these government benefits too. Almost all of their funding is provided by the growing student debt crisis as unknowing students borrow the money they need from the government at whatever price the college wants to charge. They receive tax exemptions and special laws that protect them from any competitive businesses from sprouting by their campuses. And restaurants that don't receive this special treatment and end up going out of business because they can't compete with the amenities college campuses own.
So to go down the list, public education limits parental choice on a child's education as the government monopoly allows them to force out private counterparts. This also allows for politicians and bureaucrats, who have their own political agendas that you as a citizen should be distrustful of, have FULL CONTROL over the information your child is fed when they attend a public school. Government spending and the student debt crisis has bloated and overfed colleges to the point where large districts of whole cities are owned by colleges that receive special government treatment allowing them to force businesses out of the local economies in the region. Public education has hurt both the shrinking middle class who in the rare case can attend private school still be forced to pay taxes for public counterparts they do not use, and hurts the lower class because they have to pay into those taxes as well and due to the nature of government monopolized education gives them little to no control over what their child learns or control over how their money is spent on education. Keeping the lower class reliant on an education system and curriculum that has statistically disproportionately harmed their students way more so than their private counterparts.
You are awesome! Subscribed.
In my perspective as a german green party voter these policies seem well thought out and I am surprised I haven't heard more of this political party.
A lot of people hear Socialism and get scared but I believe that is because of how some countries are unsuccessful at it. That makes sense. I think when we look at those countries we should consider the fact they those leaders are doing it wrong. Just like Capitalism is being done wrong in almost every way. Socialism is not communism either. I wish people would stop saying that.
Thank you for this
No problem! Glad you enjoyed it!
Thanks for this!
why isn't this party popular?
Because Americans have been fed false propaganda about socialism for many decades. There's also the fact that voters see the other side, either Democrat or Republican, as the spawn of Satan. Even if their views align more closely with a third party, they feel they have to vote Democrat of Republican just so the other guy doesn't win.
Thanks these videos help with school work
I am tired of those two gangs, the crypts and bloods...sorry, I meant the two political parties, republicans and democrats...running the show. Third parties in general have two big problems:
1. The first past the post election system.
2. The major parties literally rig things to make it more difficult for third parties to participate.
@@Nanofuture87 not true. They just can't stick to gether
@@radthadd Actually it is true. First past the post mathematically results in a system dominated by two parties and things like the Presidential debates are literally controlled by a joint Democrat - Republican group that will move the goalposts to keep third parties out.

@@radthadd Nope, everything I've said is verifiable. In addition, the rules for third party candidates to get on to ballots are literally different than the rules for main party candidates.
