  • The Wooden Dummy is the heart and soul of Wing Chun. Not only is it really cool (there’s nothing else quite like it) but it provides the Wing Chun fighter a master course in actually applying the material from the three empty hand forms, Siu Lim Tao, Chum Kiu and Biu Jee. In this installment, Sifu Jason Korol begins breaking down section 2 of the Ip Man lineage Wooden Dummy form.

    ^^^^^ Be sure to grab the WING CHUN WOODEN DUMMY BOOK ^^^^^
    Each section and action is meticulously broken down for you so you won't waste your time rehearsing techniques you don't understand. Lastly, you’ll also get an informative and entertaining historical overview of both Wing Chun as a whole and the Mook Jong too so that you understand where everything fits into the modern era.

    Priceless videos as always! I'm forever a fan! That misconception about standing still and trying to block when it comes to boxers is so true! Your approach is so realistic and logical! You have to move and not be confined, be more improvisational and not stationary like you were saying! A lot more people will be safe if they follow your advice! Your little side jokes are funny too! Love your videos Sifu Jason!

    Another excellent video, bridging the gap between theory and real application and not the fools paradise where some would have us live.

    That’s a great, fast, powerful palm to face, oof! This was a good video, I notice I continue to learn various things and nuances from various people, it makes you grow and improve. Thanks again. PS I enjoy doing free style work on the dummy in addition to the forms, brainstorming ideas, movement, attcks, counters, etc.

    I passed one of my judo belt tests by practicing the throws without a partner. This dummy thingy reminds me of that. The pointy bits shouldn't represent anything because the movements, speed, and power are what you want to learn.

    Excellent video, Sifu Jason. Your students are lucky to have you. You made a 23min video that doesn't feel bloated or boring. I really like watching you give them explanations. The "teenage hands" analogy was pretty good and funny. I scrolled through all of your uploads (thought there were gonna have more stuff there, did you delete some old videos?) looking for a video explaining how to make a dummy like yours, but couldn't find it. Well, could you add this to your planned videos? A breakdown of the several different equipment you use there in your academy and how to make them?

  • @anthonyeusebius5834
    @anthonyeusebius5834 4 года назад

    I think they did that because oftimes students are impeded by their own paradigms. Like when I say punch their shoulder hunches up they tense up all from their bad paradigm of a punch. So I literally have to teach them with open hands to move in a certain direction and then close their hand but the moment you say punch the shoulder hunches up they tense up etc. O Semsei Ueshiba would say learn and forget learn and forget!

    I beg your pardon for my direct question Sifu Jason but, since I enjoy yor videos and the spirit you transmit with your teaching, I have to ask: why turning on heels?

    • @JKDandWingChun
      @JKDandWingChun  3 года назад +2

      That’s a great question that deserves a video frankly. Suffice it to say here that the idea is to make sure one keeps their hips under them and can drive power up from the ground. This principle is somewhat misunderstood and is a big impediment to footwork in many cases (sacrificing mobility for stability) if it’s applied in the wrong context. Like I said, we’ll address this subject in more detail in a separate video because it’s so important. Thanks!

    Sifu, I bought the book, and am a bit confused.In the book you use a jut-sao, but in this video a pac sao. Can I assume it is a either or?
