    4:09- "I have the belt on and the sprockets are aligned, here is my easily spinning hydraulic tensioner pin too."
    YEAH THANKS THE FUCK ALLOT YOUR VERY INFORMATIVE EXPLANATION OF HOW TO DO THAT.

    • @benjamintaylor130
      @benjamintaylor130 6 лет назад

      I have multiple versions of with the FSM.
      SO, it seems like the straightforward steps are:
      1. Set the Crank sprocket timing divit BACK (retarded) by 3-4 teeth (peaks) from the oil pump's timing mark.
      2. Align the Front bank Cam sprockets with the corresponding valve cover timing mark, using timing cover bolts to steady and hold the sprockets still, and DEAD ON synced up.
      3. Set the Crank sprocket to one tooth (1 peak) before the timing mark on the block/oil pump.
      4.Place the belt on starting with the front bank Cam sprockets, using clips or something to hold the belt onto the Cam sprocket, still synced with it's mark.
      5. Route the belt around the water pump, pull taught on the belt and place on the rear bank intake cam sprocket as its still aligned with it's timing marks. Clip it to hold steady
      6. Place the belt on the rear most Cam sprocket, with a little or tiny degree retarded to clockwise rotate the sprocket and make the belt taught.
      7. Route the belt down and over the first tensioner pulley
      8. Set the hydraulic Tensioner pulley with it's two 'eyes' Vertical and the belt slides fairly easily onto the Crank sprocket and Hydraulic tensioner pulley.
      9. Using the B.S. 3SX aluminum 1/4 bit tensioner tool, rotate the pulley until the slack in the belt is gone, then tighten the pulley bolt to hold it in place.
      10. Remove the timing cover bolts used to steady the Cam sprockets.
      11. Rotate clockwise on the Hydraulic tensioner pulley until the point of floppy looseness in the grenade pin. Then Tighten the pulley bolt up until it begins to rotate the whole pulley, Hold the pulley steady or countering it to secure the pulley bolt and using the looseness and spinning of the grenade pin as a gauge.
      12. Let it sit for 5-10 minutes, then check the grenade pin for looseness, check that every sprocket is still dead on it's timing and rotate the engine a few (20,000) times to be sure sure nothing clashes, let it sit for a bit, double check, rotate the engine a few more times, then a third and final check on everything.

    • @Jursaw
      @Jursaw  6 лет назад

      The one tooth back on the crank didn't make sense to me but I followed that and after I rotated the engine once and letting it sit, all the marks lined up. The one tooth back is to help take up the slack of the belt once you rotate it.

    If AZ checked your battery and it was fine, it is possible that the alternator is bad. Your battery may just be getting run down if it is not properly being charged by the alternator. Having low voltage in your car will create all types of strange electrical problems. A quick test is to check the voltage across your battery terminals with the car off and on. It should jump up when it is turned on. Also it should either stay the same or increase. If not your alternator is not getting charge to your battery.

    • @fairbornCCF
      @fairbornCCF 7 лет назад

      Just fixed my honda and it turned out to be a rusty connection to my alternator. As rusty as your car is there are bound to be a few weak connections.

    • @fairbornCCF
      @fairbornCCF 7 лет назад

      My voltage goes from around 12v to 14v as measured on the battery terminals after I start it.

    • @Jursaw
      @Jursaw  7 лет назад

      The alternator charges my battery fine. Problem is when I work on this car and constantly start it up, the alternator doesn't run long enough to "charge" the battery long enough for the amount of power it used to start the car. To help out the battery, I took it out to charge it using a battery charger and when I put it back in, no lights or nothing, at first there was lights but they turned off and even a TEST light was dim when placed directly on the battery. The battery read 12.7v which is really good but couldn't even light up a small bulb in the test light. I have seen this problem before. My girl's moms car had no dash lights or anything but when we tried to jump start it, the car barely cranked. As soon as we removed the jumper cables, the car had no lights in the dash or anything but when I used my multimeter on the battery, it read 12.6v (different multimeter btw). Point is, just because it reads "12.6" or tests "good" in autozones case it doesn't mean the battery is good.

    • @fairbornCCF
      @fairbornCCF 7 лет назад

      Jursaw 12.6v is at the bottom of what is acceptable. make sure your car is hitting around 14v when running. those bench chargers are usually pretty crappy. trust me these cars are very picky about having the right power.

    • @Jursaw
      @Jursaw  7 лет назад

      12.6v is what it reads when the car is off. I plan to get new cable ends. Autozone employee just isn't educated enough.

    Hey Jursaw. I appreciate this 3 part video big time! I have one complaint however and hopefully you or someone can help me. @ 4:10 you gloss over installing the timing belt. How did you keep the cams from moving off the arrows? Did you turn the motor over to top dead center via the crank (cylinder 1), and then position the cams. And how did you accurately line up the intake cam towards the back of the motor. That's the 3rd cam if you count from left to right. I can line up the first 2 cams with the dots and arrows, the 4th cam is hard, but doable, but that 3rd one doesn't have a clean line of sight to line the dot up with the arrow in the block. Any help from you or anyone else who's familiar would be GREATLY appreciated. I have a misfire and no acceleration similar to the symptoms of a bad maf sensor, but the maf sensor is good. And the car backfired...that's a clear indicator that the intake timing is off. Also while the car is running I pulled the spark plug wires out one by one to see which cylinders weren't firing... 1-3-5 weren't at all. Thanks again! I subscribed to your channel strictly off your initial video with this car. 👍🏽👍🏽 Side note...I have the base model 94 3000GT.

    caps go bad in ecu I had this happen and replaced it with a chromed ecu. you can replace them if you want to

      @laddn17 7 лет назад

      they were rated for 5 years and that's what I am battling now also. almost all electrical components have these shit caps in them so I have a bad ecs and ac unit currently and my ecu fried. acid leaks from the cap and shorts out the board and you get funky ass shit like me hahahaha

      Nick Ladd yeah I replaced the caps but it was too late because the damage was already done

      shitty!!! I have one that might be good if someone wants to do the work on it: the chromed one seems to be better since I have tactrix cable, ecuflash and evoscan

    Should have silicone on the seals before installing. Also should have replace the head plug gaskets while you had it all apart. Should have replaced the tensioner bolt and lock washer. You should have tested the hydraulic tensioner for 24 hours before installing the timing belt. You mentioned nothing about the proper valve positions before installing the timing belt. One should always read the owners manual.

    • @Jursaw
      @Jursaw  6 лет назад

      tonkatoytruck I didn’t do everything by the book because I just wanted to get his thing running and on the road. The tensioner bolt looked fine and I know its a risk. That engine needs to get rebuilt and and resealed anyway. The tensioner was new so I didn’t bother which I know it could be a bad part still being new.

    Do you remember why you disconnected the ECS computer in the rear hatch. I didn't see the purpose of doing that

    • @Jursaw
      @Jursaw  7 лет назад

      Agent WK I believe the ECS computer could be harming the ECU. I pulled it from the car and some electrical components are indeed burned on the circuit board of the ECS computer. I will have to buy a good used one if I want to keep ECS

    send ur ecu for remanufacture 3sx do them and get new ptu and coils at once

    • @Jursaw
      @Jursaw  7 лет назад

      SMS570X Sending it out for repair is as costly as buying a used one but if I can't find a used one I will have to send mine out to get fixed

    • @MrLego-ob7qh

      Jursaw consider just buying a Chrome ECU from 3sx. All new electronics and internals. I made that choice after having a fuel injector driver in the factory ECU start smoking up leading to the factory ECU failing. I had that factory ECU repaired by 3sx. Regardless I bought the chrome ECU, no problems with ignition since. Also once you finish doing some rewiring the ECU will be readable by an OBD II tool / link given.

    NEVER reuse the bolts that hold on the tensioner. Lots of other work you should have been done while you had the car apart. And using garbage after market parts is a big no no on these engines.

    Is there a way you can try to swap coil packs to test on the same cylinders to be sure it is the computer? It is real old and has over 250k miles right? My vw I said a few months back like 6 months ago had a bad coil pack electronics thingy. The coils where fine but the electronics where burned up in the 4/5 coils but others where fine so it sputtered and sounded strange. There a way you can try to get a used working coil or swap it somehow first? I know the ecu is very expensive usually. Watch out for people that comment saying your video and channel are awesome and they are just looking for a sub themselves. Good luck man. Also worried about rat poop in motor. Can you get one of those cheap iPhone or Android camera's that you can put in a cylinder and see if a piston has a hole in it or where you can see more inside the motor?

    • @Jursaw
      @Jursaw  7 лет назад

      barry k. I put a whole set of used coil packs on that were working (at least what I was told) and still no spark in the 3/6 coil. I tested the coils before I put them on too and they tested okay. The car has 225K miles and I was going to look into those borescope cameras

    • @barrysauce
      @barrysauce 7 лет назад

      Good thats good man. You spend so much money and run into so many issues each time. I would get a cam to see inside. Then what about pulling the oil pan off to see if any rat crap in the pan? Can get a good look inside. Save that new oil. Then do the camera. THEN try the ecm. Go less expensive parts first. Still good stuff. Learning alot too but after seeing that rat crap makes me think a rat got inside through the air cleaner and messed up the motor. Was the oil still clean after it ran a little after changing it or was it all gross?

      @Jursaw  7 лет назад

      I fix one thing then another thing fails haha. Oil came out consistently but who knows. I do plan to get another oil pan

    Jursaw I noticed you disconnected the ECS computer. Down the road if the ECS seems to be failing and you have checked all the wiring from shocks to ECS computer and (OK).. Try this out, I ended up fixing a failing ECS computer issue with this new ECS computer..
