The reason why spyro enter the dragonfly was so bad because it was rushed in development for the holiday season, same thing like sonic 06 did was also rushed in development for the holiday season too with bugs, glitches, poor controls, poor physics, poor camera, long loading times, terrible frame rate, terrible character models, bad story, cut contents, and other issues.
The reason why the game ended up the way it did was Universal. The guy in charge of executive producing the project and managing the contractors (Equinoxe and Check Six) didn't have a background in video games, but kept asking for changes almost every week, to the point where they only finalized the production bible six months before release. The original production bible was completed a year or two in advance, but the constant changes requested by Universal (sometimes, they won't even provide a reason for the change), made the development of the game untenable. The developers had to present at E3 with only one working level. There was massive crunch before the release date to complete the nine levels. I am actually amazed that they made all this in such a small amount of time. Universal was awful. No wonder Naughty Dog and Insomniac ditched them as soon as their contracts were up. They got very lucky that they had Sony's backing while developing Crash & Spyro. Every developer that worked for them suffered. P.S. There was so much stress during the development of this game that Equinoxe and Check Six ended up hating each other, there was someone who tried to murder a co-worker, and a treasurer was stealing from the project.
You think that's nuts? This game's development gets so messy it has ties with, and i shit you not: Aliens: Colonial Marines. Yes, I'm not joking. Go watch the "What Happened?" on it from MattMcMuscles.
Not gonna lie, i think if they didnt gave the developers so much trouble during production and released it later, it could have been a worthy followup to year of the dragon
I did hear that the developers went through hell with this game, which is unfortunate. But at least the final product, although a trash fire, is amusing!
It’s super sad knowing that there where multiple level ideas that the team intended on implementing, even to the extent of having entire levels (cutthroat cove, enchanted forest - I do not remember the other one unfortunately) which where cut by universal because the concepts weren’t ‘spyro’ or even weren’t ‘kid friendly enough’ due to the fact that the team also intended for the game to be a tad more aimed towards teenagers, as the fans who had played 1-3 had grown to be around that age range.
@@some.mysteriousmf *EXACTLY.* people overlook a lot of things, it seems like; let alone the soundtracks? Holy fuck, do they ever make a level what it is to some extent. I will agree with you on the fact that some of the worlds in this game were still very much spectacular in designs and concept. Like Thieves' Den, Honey Marsh, Cloud 9 and Jurassic Jungle for example, were all very cool concepts, but the gameplay and the way most of them are designed and the layout is what ruined them completely, which is probably why they never returned in any of the other games/remasters afterwards. I will say one thing, that the modders have come through for us and from what I know, they have actively been working on a fanmade Spyro game called "Spyro: Return of the Dragonfly", which is basically a remake and remaster of Enter The Dragonfly, but better in every way, like how it should be. It uses lots of assets and models from the Remastered trilogy and from what I've seen, it looks really good right off the bat. I would highly recommend you to check that out.
i love dreaming about what this game could have been. the idea for it is spectacular. if it were properly executed, i think this would have been many peoples favorite Spyro game.
I would describe a Heros tail as what enter the dragon tried to be, in my opinion spyro a heros tail is pretty great actually. enter the dragon fly was attempting to make larger levels, a heros tail actually succeeded at making larger level that were very fun to play. the alternet character sections in spyro 3 were not that good honestly, the Hunter levels in spyro a heros tail were fucking amazing, same gameplay as playing as spyro, so not a minigame, just you get to play as Hunter, and Hunters moveset is actually just as well done as spyros moveset.
Finally, a RUclips video properly tearing this game apart. I'm not finished yet but I hope he talks about how you can beat the game in like... One minute
I kinda hope Toys for Bob gives this the reboot it deserves. It DID have some really good IDEAS alas those ideas were rushed out the door to meet a Christmas deadline

you are hilarious, i subbed ((: i am currently sitting in a Spyro onesie at my work desk on this good Halloween day. tbh, Enter The Dragonfly is a game i still play today when i want those monotonous/mindless/repetitive tasks. it has nostalgia for me and it is a funny and relaxing (at times, mildly infuriating, but mostly relaxing) game to play for me, personally. part of the joy of playing it, for me, IS how terrible it is. i completely understand the distain for it, though and am well aware that i am a minority in having love for it 😅❤ also, i think i am just a sucker for bubble breath. if only it worked more than 10% if the time. sigh.
This was the last Spyro game using the original gameplay formula to be released (discounting remakes). It is unfortunate what happened, but even with a better development schedule, I can't help but feel this game would've been disappointing. Not only is there no innovation in the gameplay, almost every theme is just lifted from Spyro 2 or 3, mostly 3. Even the level structure, like the in-level portals, is just like Spyro 3. Dragonfly Dojo is like Bamboo Terrace. Crop Circle Country and Honey Marsh rip off two of the Spyro 3 speedway levels. Cloud 9 is just Cloud Spires. Monkey Monastery is just Colossus with some Frozen Altars enemies. Admittedly, Thieves' Den was a great concept, but it's one of the worst performing levels FPS-wise. Jurassic Jungle feels somewhat new also, but it also has that pathetic slide minigame that feels like the developers ran out of time, so it's just... empty. The lack of new content is quite apparent. There are almost as many levels in Summer Forest in Spyro 2 as there are in this whole game. Some people say 'it could've been good', but I don't think extra time would've magically made this game have more to offer.
If Enter the Dragonfly was to be remade “reignited style”, they would need to make a lot of changes to fix it. They’d need to change the level structure to make it smaller and less tedious and also make better use of the breaths, they’d need to somehow improve or replace all the terrible side missions, and they’d probably need to add it a whole bunch of new content (new levels, for example) to make it worth buying. At that point, you may as well just make a new Spyro game from scratch But hey, if they think they can turn Enter the Dragonfly into a good game, I’m open to the idea and I’d like to see how well they’d do
I liked this game when I was 5 but now being 20 this is up there in my collection as one of the worst playable games I have. My main issue was the levels are huge with nothing to do in them and then there’s only like 6 levels in the entire game. All the glitches and bugs and the game feeling like an unfinished beta build just enhances the pain
Once this game had It's own Bizzaro Sequel with It's About Time with Crash; Spyro will be back In the proper spotlight again outside of his remastered trilogy series and other haters who defends this game all they want for I don't car, especially for Nuts And Bolts once Threeie becomes an official reality!

That’s a very generous comparison I think lol
@@Torran2Glitchy and someone is working on fixing EtD meanwhile.
suicide Is never the answer, but... 💀
Its a bad sequel to YotD
I have so much more respect for Year of the Dragon now. I always thought Spyro 3 was a little weaker than the first 2 games, but after Enter the Dragonfly I think it’s amazing lol
What a shitty sequel
Torran2Glitchy is like the avgn but actually funny
No ufo cow one is fun
I’ve sold this game after beating it. I just hate this game so much.

You should watch mr f01 documentary on this game. Then you'll know why this game didnt turn out well.
Yeah I think people are too harsh on it sometimes
@@Mulpti too harsh? It's not too harsh for something like this.
Sure, it's sad what happened, but that's why you shouldn't be any less honest about this game being a dumpster fire, it probably was better off being canned than rushed like this by the publisher.
@jasonsudeikis26 you should be sicker of enablers like you.
You talk about "toxic" and yet people like you are the prime example of what a toxic user is.
Any by "way better" do you mean something like "Actually finished"?
