Just a quick tip if you want a really rich dark brown on the outside add a teaspoon of baking powder to the water when you boil them like you would with pretzels
I love the transparency on your channel! You provided me with great information & listed that down below too. Other people don't list the ingredients, it's like a scavenger hunt. TYSM.
your recipes are so inspiring the way you take your time to make vegan food with care really shows and i appreciate that.. have learned so many great recipes from you...thank you and keep it up!
I love how your recipies are so simple and nice! I can actually try out your recipies (as they do not take too much preparation time and do not have too many hard to get ingridients). Thank you!
Thanks! Yeah, I really try to make recipes with accessible ingredients that everyone can easily make. There's a lot of fancy, expensive stuff out there (some of it is delicious) but you don't have to use those ingredients to be a healthy, happy vegan. I want people to see how easy it can be so thanks for noticing lol Hope you're having a great day
Yes, that is awesome. I really cannot relate to other vegan food channels that I have watched (they have use ingridients that I have never heard of before and there is no translation known to me so I cannot search in online vegan shops)))) Your recipies are easy to follow and to remember, I do not have to keep watching a 6 minute video like 5 times in order to memorize everything:) And! Most of the ingridients I already have at home, or have a good enough substitute (like slightly different herbs & spices, veggies to make vegetable stock etc) Btw, I love the recipe for palak paneer (Indian), I have simplified it and veganized it, it is sooo good! If you have not tried it, maybe it would be useful for your other videos, for sauces. Also, for pancakes, 1. mineral water and flour 2. dosa (fermented rice and urad dal - white mung beans, can be replaced by either lentils or yellow peas)
Ohhhh I'm so addicted to bagels! I am totally making this! My two all time favorite ways of eating them is to either spread them with vegan onion chive cream cheese and then top with campari tomatoes and nutritional yeast, or maybe a touch of pink salt and pepper, OR just top with earth balance and nutritional yeast! Mmmmmmmm
I love chive and onion cream cases! Love the idea of pink salt and pepper with tomatoes too! and yes, earth balance on a warm, toasted bagel is absolute heaven! Hope you enjoy these bagels :)
I tried these...delicious! It's funny, my mom walks into the kitchen... Mom: What are you making? Me: Bagels Mom: I don't like bagels that much, but I'll give t) yours a try... *A few bagels later* Mom: You know what, these are awesome!
Made these and they are truly incredible... I'm going to try with cinnamon, raisins, etc. But even plain this is truly magical. I added 1 sppon of sugar to the dough too
Yay!! I’m so glad you liked this recipe ☺️💚 make sure the raisins are “tucked in” to the dough and not sitting on top because they’ll get hard in the oven. Enjoy!
@@NikkiVegan you need a serious award for this! They are incredible!! I cut my dough to get 14 mini ones and they still puffed up good as I allowed resting time after rolling into a ball, and then again after making the hole. I cannot express how much I appreciate a good, simple, vegan recipe that's better than the original! I was thinking to presoak then allow the rains to dry so they'd be a juicy mess might make them less likely to burn too. I'll be doing various varieties and will provable start making them in batches for the month as part of my meal prepping. Once again thank you. New subbie from me for sure!
I ended up only having 2 cups of flour but I still winged it and they turned out amazing! After 15 mins I took them out and brushed them with some soft vegan butter, and added a pre-mixed seasoning of chia seeds, hemp seeds, sesame seeds and black pepper. After cooking another 5 mins, I sliced and topped with Daiya chive and onion vegan cream cheese. It was delicious!!!
Made these for the first time back in May and I get requests from my family at least twice a month. Best bagel recipe I have tried. Can't keep them in the house for more than 2 days!
Trader Joe's now has an "everything" seasoning and I picked it up specifically because I remembered this video! Can't wait to add it to the bagels! Wahooo!!!
Thanks so much for this recipe, & many others. My husband, & I have made the choice to be vegans, & we are so happy that we did. Thanks again. Please share more recipes.
I made them with whole wheat and whole spelt flour and used fresh yeast, and it was really fun to make, and the dough rised a lot I think I'm going to make them again😍😋
NikkiVegan it's the same thing but not dried, you keep it in the fridge and it has the shape of a cube. Here in Germany it is way cheaper then dry yeast and we use it a lot
These are delicious! I added some dried blueberries to the dough. Will definitely keep this recipe. Thank you for sharing such a delicious and easy (few ingredients) recipe. 😉
Can't wait to try these. Love all the extra info and tips too. Slice them in half before freezing. Toaster ready... But how long do they last even in the freezer? Anyone knows?
Great Vid, and thanks for the idea, I was thinking of what to make for a special breakfast birthday treat for my husband on Friday. He will love homemade bagels. I think he might be on his way to being vegan too, your recipes are helping slot :)
Before I went vegan, I loved cream cheese and lox on my bagels, and it's funny that you posted this today because I'm in the middle of marinating smoked carrot lox! Next time I'll make these to put them on!
I can't wait to eat all 8 in one sitting LOL. I love blueberry bagels with strawberry or hazelnut cream cheese! I haven't found a vegan replacement for those fancy flavored cream cheeses though, but plain cream cheese and jam is a pretty good option. Tasty and animal-free :)
Making it again right now my new comfort food... Using 4 cups bread flour, 1 cup ground wheat bran, 1 cup ground whole wheat flour, 1 cup vital wheat gluten for the protein, mixen in the sesame seeds with basil seeds, 2 teaspoons sugar extra, double salt and yeast ... Wish me luck
Turned out great got 28 out of this batch could have been about 32 if I realized how much they would rise. That's my breakfast for 2 weeks taken care of
omg i've tried this recipe and it was bomb! actually im eating them right now! you just gained a new subscriber! thank you so much keep up the vids! 😊😊😊
I’m making these again, except this time I added 1/4c ground flaxseed, 1/4c nutritional yeast, 2 tbsp each of: sesame, chia and hemp seeds and then added in the yeast mixture. It ended up needing almost 1/4c more water. I also used some olive oil on my hands to help knead the bread without it sticking. We shall see how these turn out 😏

I switched cane sugar with coconut sugar will that be fine?
Is it possible to make these with soy milk instead of water?
I don't think so, but I've never tried it :)
Can buckwheat flour be used?
Yummy 😋
Think I could use almond flour?
Can I use whole wheat flour ☺️
I’m seriously knee-deep in this recipe and couldn’t figure out why my yeast wasn’t activating I’m actually using instant yeast! Now I’m stuck because if I use this instant yeast it only calls to dissolve entire packet in a 1/4 cup water… great! It’s Sunday morning and everyone’s counting on me!
Can you provide us with the number of calories per bagel?
You can use chronometer app and divide the calories.
would gluteb free flour work with this recipe? thanks
I don't know! I've never tried it but if you give it a go, let me know how it turns out :)
Thank you for that
My pleasure! Hope you enjoy
Can I use whole wheat flour???
How many cups if I use all purpose gluten feee flour??
How long do you boil them?
Is it ok to leave out the salt? Will it still function properly?
Good question! It will but the salt is the main thing that flavors the bagel. I wouldn't skip it for that reason because plain flour is pretty bland without some seasoning 😊
