- We depart Springdale, AR in moderate rain and overcast at 400’ headed to Stigler, OK for gas. This is a short flight that ends with an RNAV approach and breakout at minimums. I decided to hand-fly the approach because I surely need the practice.
Good job, quelle approche!!
J' adore l 'insouciance of the kids in the back of the malibu.Take care.
I am not a pilot just a 50-year-old aviation enthusiast- I am always so impressed when pilots get to minimums and out of the heavens the runway shows up right in front of you I love it.
Yes, it's impressive. What's more impressive is a GCA (ground-controlled approach).
I used to practice those in a helicopter in the military. You have the glidescope on the panel but you basically follow the controller's talkdown. I was always impressed at the end and you look out of the cockpit and you're right over the numbers. Great work on the controller's part.
By the way, you would normally not take it down that far without a co-pilot.
Man… what’s great approach. Love how your wife called you out to hand fly the approach! 🙌🏽
Hand flying an approach in IMC is impressive. Giving a running commentary, fielding questions from your wife and making it look easy is VERY impressive. Superb job thoroughly enjoyed it.
Welcome Back ! Haven't seen any videos for a while. God Bless you and your Family :):)
Cool as a cucumber! Nothing better than letting your passengers know you are confident in your procedures!!
Great to see such support from your wife and a great job too. I also love to see your family flying along with you.
Excellent IMC flight video! Thank you for sharing your skills.
Thanks so much for the tutorial on your your RNAV works. You have a beautiful Malibu and very well equipped. Great job in landing in a pucker situation. I pays to have great equipment and you are a very competent pilot!!!
Terrific. Congrats. There are tons of channels about aviation, but just a few that really shows the pilot point of view... Keep going, I'm with you capitain!
Great to see you again. Also thanks for the full IFR landing. Doesn’t get much closer to minimums than that.
And that Approach would have definitely been harder without callouts of "ground in sight" and "runway in sight" by Mrs. Copilot.
Thank you for sharing this video with us all, I found it truly amazing and exciting as you flew through the cloud. A big thank you for allowing us access to your flight from a UK 🇬🇧 fan.
I really like your channel!
I’m a pilot too and I’m based in Italy where I work as FO on a Learjet40.
I love the Malibu, my favourite piston GA aircraft.
Can you shoot a video where you talk about how much it cost to own and operate your plane (maintenance/insurance etc)?
It would be so interesting.
I can't wait to see your other adventures.
Cheers and nice landings!
Hi malibuflyer. Love the content....whatever you do please keep up the good work, and keep those great educational videos going. I've read all the comments and a great pilot like you will review the pertinent observations.... like we do when we self analyze our just completed flights for learnings. Your videos are real world flying by a very proficient , humble pilot...well done.
Very enjoyable! I am going for my Instrument rating at this time. Helpful to see an entire short flight and how you flew it. Great to see the wife helping. I will be learning with steam gauges and first generation GPS. Just starting the flying part. Look forward watching more. Thank you.
Bravo, bravo 👏👏👏👏👏 I love your channel although I stop flying over 30 years ago I do enjoy your flying always. Best regards from San Juan, Puerto Rico, stay safe.
Well done for this uneasy approach through low clouds, very accurate parameters as an airline landing !!
Mad props (pun intended) for that cool, calm, collected landing. So smooth, the girls in the back never woke up through it lol!
I watch a lot of flying video and honestly, most are kinda boring. This is the 1st time I have seen one of your videos.
This video was FAR from boring!! Very nicely done on the ILS in actual IMC. NICE! I don't think Steveo could have top that one.
~~GOOD STUFF~~
That was great. I appreciate you posting these flights. You are quite vocal as you go along and it's useful to hear your thought processes as you go. I also see that you have had some coaching... I can hear your instructor saying ok what's the problem.... ok fix that. ;)
Flying that hoss like a boss. Youre videos are very professional. Great job!
A perfect example of why we fly instruments. Great job. Missed your videos. Welcome back.
That was a very cool video! Nice to see you getting some actual IMC time. I have not seen anyone do a full approach to minimums in awhile, hopefully the rest of your trip was not as challenging.
Really enjoyed this, love it that the girls fell asleep. We’re cool, mum and dad have got this covered Zzzzzz.
Great job on the Rnav App and awesome landing on that low ceiling.
We are getting into flying and really have enjoyed your videos! We are in the early stages but looking to purchase a PA-46. Your videos have been great for my wife and I! Very helpful in solidifying our choice to purchase a PA-46. We have two little girls and really just seems like a great family plane!
The videos are great!! Thank you!
Nice job staying ahead of the aircraft. Well done.
Wow. my palms are still sweaty...
Awesome approach John. I think your co-pilot (wife) was praying to see the ground before she saw it.
Don't blame her.
I'm a 71 USAF, Vietnam F-105 driver, F101B also. Could have used your avionics getting into Danang
Some nights. GCA approach was a help, ADF approach as well.
Nice Job, Hope Katy had one eye open. She's a lucky young Lady...
Nice video as usual! The wife looked a little concerned as you took off and climbed into the overcast, but she did a great job of keeping up with the airplane, assisting you and doing a good job as a right seater!
My daughter and I always enjoy your videos!
You were in my area today. I Live north of Springfield a bit. We had severe weather and one radar indicated Tornado warning about 8:00 pm tonight. Glad you were long gone by then! Drizzle, NW wind and getting colder now. So nice to see your family and that beautiful aircraft. Take Care and looking forward to your next VLOG.
Excellent job! Love your Malibu. That panel is awesome.
That was an exciting video for a NON IFR pilot. It was a little stressful to see you flying the approach with the plane flying opposite your direction. I know you are flying the numbers and headings but it is unnerving to watch from my perspective. I enjoyed watching you correct with little changes to get back on glideslope and localizer. Great video, thanks for showing us real world flying.
Hope all is well with you and your family. We miss you and your videos, would love to see more if you can. Tks
That was so cool flying along with you doing all that. What a great video.
Glad you're back in the sky. Or maybe making videos again. I almost never see people fly in that kind of weather. You have no fear. lol You are good. WOW.
Nice landing in my little hometown!
Nice work.. Some things I learned once working as a CFI-I. Altitude callouts. I like to count down from 1000 above DA or MDA. 900 to go.. 800, 7,6,5,4,3,2,1 etc. Also, a bit of adverse yaw on approach. I don't fly your airplane, so I don't know how bad it is or what kind of ride you had, but I remind myself, when I move the yoke, I move the rudders. Great CRM using your wife to look for the runway! Great video!
Great seeing you again. Was missing your videos with your beautiful Malibu!
That was a sweet approach. Love the girls sleeping through it in the back. Got my heart going a bit watching online!
That's some big cajones! Hats off to you, Sir!
Thanks, I am sure that complete that procedure as you did is so rewarding !! Nice channel.
IMC flying masterclass, great job! Thanks for sharing!
Excellent video. I'm sure you did that for experience and our benefit and not just cheap gas in that weather, while adding an extra hour to a 5 hour trip. Regardless, nice job. And lovely co-pilot. Great job..
Nice to see you posting videos again, warts and all. That’s how everyone learns.
Nicely done! We are early in the stages of buying a Malibu as well and will be checking out your videos. 4DT looks beautifully updated. Subscribed!
Thank you Nate! Good luck with the search and don’t hesitate to reach out if I might be able to help.
Great job to minimums on approach. Truly a professional pilot Kory!
Thanks Tim! Good to hear from you.
I’m Working on the IFR rating. Very helpful video seeing real IFR. You made it look easy, while I know it’s anything but. Sincere thanks.
Thank you for sharing your flight. I appreciate the opportunity to learn from your experience. Please keep the videos coming.
Great to see you in the air again. Thanks for sharing and allowing us to ride along.
Nice job, love the zoom feature on Garmin helps huge for tracking. Life is good fella, best wishes to you and your lovely wife.
Great job and quite a challenging weather. I am studying for my IR and hot to actually watch how an IAP is done. Thanks for sharing.
Whew, great hand flying in the soup to minimums, and good to have a helpful copilot. Your Malibu and avionics are awesome. Your passengers in the back didn’t look too concerned though. Enjoyed that and look forward to more ifr flights.
Always a good day when you drop new one, thank you!
Great job! I was hoping you'd accept the challenge. :-) I am surprised the Garmin doesn't have the HITS. Pretty cool flying through the boxes. Thanks for the video, and don't let the "you should have let the AP fly the approach" people get to you. Autopilots do fail and it's better to have that actual "down to minimums" practice and confidence when you need it.
Beautiful plane and panel. Very well flown! As you showed, IMC shouldn't be feared, just prepared for with appropriate equipment and experience 👍
Great approach..... that was for sure to minimums.... I fly a C310 here in Maine building churches all over our state! Stay at it! Love the channel. 🙋♂️
Jesus said to me "help spread the word!..... by enjoying yourself flying airplanes around, while so many in the US are living in desperate poverty". US Christianity is one sick joke. Get out of your plane and go and wash a homeless person's feet, as Jesus would.
@@droge192 It always interest me that complete strangers understand completely our full scope of the ministry. Actually we spent most of the year taking care of the homeless in our community. John 1:12 But as many as received him, to them gave he power to become the sons of God, [even] to them that believe on his name: I pray you have received Christ as your personal Savior!
Fantastic job, I would’ve freaked out not being able to see like that. ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
What a difficult landing!! You kept cool in those difficult condition 😎
When I heard I have a number for you to copy I was wondering what did he do wrong 😂
Me too. It got my attention for sure...
Wow just discovered this channel, these need to come out more often. Definitely way up there on the top ten.
I really enjoyed this video. It makes me want to get IFR current again. Nice toyz in the cockpit!!!
that flight deck rivals many of the new modern big boys. Thanks for sharing!!
Fantastic flight video, really enjoyed it.
Thanks for posting great videos flying the Malibu. Maybe I cant read your fuel gauges right but it looks like you landed with 16 gallons total shooting an approach to minimums.
That’s at least an hour of fuel.
I Always enjoy your videos. Good job. Hope to see you again soon! God bless y'all!
Great approach and decision making. I learn a lot from your videos...keep them coming!
Great video. Love the IFR flights.
Soo cool! Thanks for the free IFR refresh! Feel as if I am in the cockpit.
Cory that was an amazing approach down to minimums.
First time visiting your channel. Very realistic sounds. Most peoples videos seem to hide the real sound of engine.
Great Trip. Tough Landing in the rain. Two gorgeous daughters (if they are yours)
Great video and great job flying. Thanks for sharing.
Great work! Just got my ifr ticket his past summer, my mim,s are 2000’ and 2sm for 6 months or as experience dictates in my V35B... very encouraging and reinforcing following procedure!
Great job to minimums. Thanks for another great video Kory!!!
Hello I did not know your channel and I really liked your video with this flight and this approach completely blocked and your approach was perfect bravo !! I found you touching with your little family, so I subscribe to your channel!
Great video thank you for sharing. Nice job hand flying it in as well.
The interior of your Malibu looks great for a plane that’s 35 years old.
That was an awesome approach and landing.
Do you have any videos of hangaring your plane? It would be nice to see you getting it out of the hangar and doing preflight checks, walkarounds and putting it back in the hangar. I really enjoy your videos. Don.
Nicely done! good job on keeping up with airplane and weather.
what a awesome video! Great job on hand flying the approach!
impressive flying!
Excellent job. Enjoyed it really much. Thanks.
Awesome approach!! Great job
Welcome back, 44DT has bin a miss
*been
Daaaang, nice panel bro
Hey, good to see you again. Always enjoy your videos, please keep them coming!
Thank you, I appreciate it.
thanks terrific video capitan you number one you numero uno
Great flight good piloting skills and thanks for sharing all the best
Achievement Unlocked: Sleeping Beauties (Land without waking up your pax.)
Great video! Not sure why so many back seat drivers in the comments section? Winds calm, and if at minimums and no ground contact you go missed. Aside from engine trouble, I don’t see the risk in those conditions. Maybe finding another place to get fuel would be a little tedious.
love your videos, you have a beautiful family, take care.
Great flight, great video...thanks for sharing with us!
Excellent video work, I’m interested in upgrading to the Garmin suite of products, and your videos really help understand how they all work together
Great job guys! Thanks for the post!
superb aviation........and you do make it look easy which it isn't...........
Nice landing!
Well done video and bravo on the skills!
Wife: "You should hand fly it"
Husband thinks "what are you my flight instructor?"
Really a very bad idea Considering the conditions. Leave the AP on and monitor everything until the minimums are reached then turn off the AP.
@@tizwicky exactly. Airlines pretty much mandate autopilot use in these conditions. Dumb dumb dumb smh
@@Guardman123u It is not an airline. It is a GA! With more freedom! He knows the risks and knows his skills.
Well done Rnav approach.
It is known that airlines declare mayday when they loose the autopilot! (joking - but you get the idea).
Handflying is vital.
@@tizwicky Which is all good and fine until the autopilot fails and you've never hand flown an approach.
absolutely should be challenging himself and hand flying approaches. looking at the avionics he has, i'd be pretty disappointed if he was an IFR rated pilot who couldn't fly an approach to minima with that gear.
Loved it. Beautiful family!
on minute 5:33 so fun to see those passengers having a full blassssst in the back. nice video, thank you
Yes. I want someone to tell me that joke!!!
