Josh, another great video in all respects! One thing....from initial flight training - way back when. I was always taught to treat the prop the same as the proverbial unloaded gun....don’t trust it!
I agree! A few people called that out in the comments here, and I appreciate the feedback. We check our magnetos before shut down after every flight to make sure the off position grounds them every time, but just like a firearm, you should always assume that it’s hot and ready to go. Learning and refining every day! Thanks for the feedback.
@@Aviation101 I have a fear of flying and acrophobia. I was told that the best way of fighting with it is learning how flying works or what is happening, and I find your videos great, it definitely helps a lot. Thanks.
Yeah my dad taught me to fear the prop lol, the only way I get close to it is to check for nicks or bends during my pre-flight. Not to mention me bonking my head into some of the bigger plane's props at the hangar I work at. I've been traumatized!
Agreed, first thing I noticed/learned from this video, I freaked out a little thinking it was going to be used as a "what you should not do" but that never came. xD
it's fun to fly in weather in a small Cessna. They were having fun. But, in case this leads further, here's a refresher course on that: ruclips.net/video/FIFdcHkZsrE/видео.html
Thanks everyone for the great feedback! This was a short, relatively last-minute flight. That morning, the plan was to put Peyton in the left seat and get her acquainted with basic stick-and-rudder flying in VFR weather, but the clouds just wouldn't lift. We were going to just scrub, but decided that since we already had the plane fueled and pre-flighted, lets just go do an IFR proficiency flight for myself. It was fun! Thanks for watching. Please leave any feedback you might have in the comments!
At 12:30, I wanna add to what you said regarding getting your PPL. Once I got mine I felt like finally had a good understanding of aviation as a whole. Could not have been farther than the truth lol. Day after my checkride I flew my Grumman across FL from FXE to DAB and wow was that a learning experience. One of the best days of my life no doubt, but I was left with more questions about flying, weather, aircraft systems, than I had while I was a student. Another great video Josh, thanks for doing what you do!
Very true. I got my PP about 25 hours after I bought my first airplane, a 172XP, and thought I knew what I was doing. But next 300 hours/2 years in that bird was a continual progressive learning experience. And the learning has never stopped, 500 hours later. A good pilot never stops learning.
The one thing I have admired for several years about your channel...... you make aviation appear much more accessible than others do. Whether in a King Air, SR22T, or a little Cherokee, there’s always a sense that you couldn’t be happier in any other plane at that time. I hope your voice to the next generation of aviators is listened to because it’s refreshing.
Relax everyone. There's a difference between looking at someone because you're falling on love and when you total admire and respect them for what they do. She clearly respects and admires him. That's what y'all are seeing.
The fact that she asked so many questions...and you were perfectly capable with an appropriate response every time..was such an amazing help for me. The basic knowledge is so often overlooked in aviation videos
Cute couple out for an afternoon flight. It will be memorable for Peyton for sure. You were so nice to explain everything and she couldn’t stop smiling!!!😊
Nope, they sure don't bud...she now looks at other men like that... Guys she works with, other mutual friends, strangers, whatever....Women need to be smitten with someone and if it's not you it'll be someone else.
When I got my license in 93` as a 19 year old from the UK I did it in Georgia and check ride in Alabama in 20kt winds in PA28 Warrior was a challenge but got through it, that took me 10 weeks with intensive training being from abroad I had flight to catch. you could do it in Florida and get it done in 3-5 weeks if time is precious. its far to expensive in this modern age to continue flying like I did 20 odd years ago so had to let it go shame but so glad I achieved it when I did.
Trying to get back in the air after decades This person is way beyond fantastic he makes it look like just another rainy day ( and he is right sunshine no clouds no wind then we would fly )

I earned my CPL with Instrument rating at the Old Jackson County airport in Pascagoula, MS. My first ILS backcourse approach was at Pensacola, at night in IMC. The Flight School I went to was a Part 141 school and they believed in doing Instrument training in IMC as much as possible.

I’ve been watching your channel for quite a while now and I always appreciate your safe practices you ademonstrate as well as use in your own flying. That said, as cool as it looks and as great 👍 camera angle as it gives, draping yourself across the prop of your airplane is not “safe practice”. Not everyone may be as responsible as you and always check their plane to make sure they don’t have a “hot” mag. We all know it just takes a prop kickback to spoil your day, or even end a life. I don't disagree! Hello, thanks for the great video. Just wondering if when you first started wearing the Lightspeed headsets, do you find that they move around a bit on your head no matter what, like if you reach down for something etc? I'm assuming this may be normal due to the ANR headsets not clamping as tight on the head as Passive headsets.

I just Learned to fly during the prehistoric era of aviation and it wasn’t uncommon to have planes that required propping. Since I started flying at 14, I had that drilled into my head daily. You’re doing a great 👍 job! Keep it up and thanks 😊 for sharing your videos and knowledge.
3:57 My Hero! 9:50 She's thinking ATP. Pretty normal for a woman showing interest to inquire about a man's upwardly mobile potential. She's curious, brave, and a great companion! Good job, busy airspace, weather, and still carrying on good social conversation and education.
Great flight
Man I wish I had an instructor like you ! I'd be flying in no time ... your a great pilot man.
Nice video Josh , cant beat the real IMC conditions and passing the FAF in IMC makes the logbook look good too .. well done ..
Josh, I liked how you kept the iPad with ADSB on the screen so that we could also see the other aircraft.
WE ♥️ IT
I wanna hear more about these work flights you do! Didn’t know you were doing commercial stuff would love to know more.
"You're more than welcome to fly." "um.... no"... classic!
I’m out of Pensacola. I’ll have to schedule a few flights when I start my PPL soon if your ever back in the area.
Fun IFR flight...Nice landing you make it look easy!
Two nice people having a fun day - doesn't get any better :-)
3:56 Just making sure Josh has his cap on straight.
Pretty copilot!
This pilot knows his stuff
Another nice and interesting video! Thank you Josh!
Josh, are you going to start a dating series with your plane?
Well, I haven't seen Brooke in a while. Is Josh still with her?
16:32 😉
Very diverse flight! I like your philosophy.
