It’s been 25 years since I was building motors in my garage. Those old motors had to be board and machined before we could do a rebuild, is that not necessary anymore? Thanks.
It’s definitely still recommended for longevity of the engine; but I know a few people who haven’t had theirs machined and haven’t had any issues. I’d still think it’s better to be safe than sorry though
I have had all these things done aside from new pistons and pushrods. Basically from cam and lifters timing and all. I keep getting idle dropping to 500rpms even with idle speed set to +100. It doesn’t run rough or nothing just kind of sits and runs smooth and quite. First time I though it was off.
Does the harmonic balancer need to go in a certain way? I have a brand new short block 5.7 hemi and I can’t find if it matters or if you just slap it on? Great video, I used it to make sure I was building it properly. Thanks for being so descriptive.
@@ChaseLangley-m7i you can just crank the engine with fuel pump relay out until you see oil pressure. Or buy a pressurized oil priming tool. I’ve always cranked them no issues

Loved this video I referred to it quite a bit when building my third gen 5.7. I want to put it in my 2005 Magnum SXT what all do I need to convert to make that happen?
Trans, computer and possibly wiring harness. Then depending on if you want to use the original factory gauges if the older gauges are compatible with the new computer. Or just go Holley X and auto light gauges.
I was decelerating from about 80 MPH down to a stop sign in my Hemi 5.7 Dodge. When all of a sudden I heard this clicking sound then bare metal to a loss of oil pressure rattling. I went and pulled over shut the engine down, started okay, still making a metal to metal sound just to move it into my cousins back yard. Turned it off to open the Gate, started it up again, and ran fine but the noise came back. Parked it but was asked to move it again, sounded and felt normal, and the noise kinda went away slightly where I finnally parked it. I noticed a trail of oil and a puddle where I had parked. Did I damage the oil pan as I decelerated or something worse?. I haven't been able to check it right since it was on Christmas day and its too low for me to look under it. It didn't sound like a Rod and the oil leak seemed to be on the right side of the engine. Did my oil filter blow or something worse?.......
How common is it for a 5.7 hemi to spin a rod bearing with less than 90k miles? And do you know anything about these 5.7 stroker packages that can take a 5.7 block up to a 426 cubic inch?
Got another question do u have to get a room to still shut down the vvt. Or it just doesn’t matter because the plugs are in. And how’s that motor working after being rebuilt with the eBay pistons
Could u give us a list of parts and we’re u get your parts. I no u like the eBay for piston heads but u using eBay timing chain. And mopar gaskets? I have a 5.7 I’m going to do mine has a dropped value 😒
@@RacingRamFam I see that part.. what I'm referring to is the double and single marks on the chain.. I put my single mark on the crank.. and I put my double marks straddling the 12 o'clock cam.. I tried it the way you have it installed and the timing marks are off!.. unless charger 5.7s are different than truck motors🤷
I have a 2011 ram 5.7 hemi st the engine was sitting in the rain so the Cylinder walls got rusty i tried honing but it to far gone so I was thinking of boring it over to fit a 0.020 over pistons the question is can i keep everything else stock like the crankshaft the camshaft lifters I'm not looking for more power then it already has stock i seen people put 6.1 crank when they go oversized to 0.020

Excellent work. I wish I could hire you to refurbish my mopar 360 LA motor . A machine shop ripped me off $$pretty bad and stole all my performance pistons, cam and heads. The motor never ran, and they disappeared😢.

Yo you should build a stroker with it, I have the 05 block I’m doing a stroker with, it’s be cool to see the comparison between 05 and 09 block, I am running 09 heads with dish pistons to drop compression for boost. I blew rod out the size of my block on my 2011 ram 1500 5.7 hemi im thinking about buying a long block. What all would I have to switch over from old engine to new? Would it be hard to do? I’ve never done vehicle engines but I’ve done atv engines before.
Long block you will have to swap over valve covers, intake and exhaust manifolds, flex plate, harmonic balancer, sensors, and sometimes timing cover and oil pan

You made that look easy. I have a question. I have a 05 jeep wk with 5.7. I was told I had a blown head gasket and the jeep has over 230K. Is it worth it to just rebuild the motor instead of just doing the head gasket??

I found a 05 ram with 1 broken piston and guy wants 500 for it. Wondering if I should go for it and try and fix it. You certainly make it look easy

We deleted mds not vvt! Vvt still works in this engine

I'm pretty sure the timing marks are backwards.. the single mark goes on the bottom.. and double marks straddle the cam ..
No cam goes to 12 o clock and crank goes to 6 o clock. Chrysler service Info yo

Why no assembly lube,why no checking bearings clearance with plastic gauge,you don’t hammer on bearing cap they caused damage to every bearing?

If you mic the journal sizes, and the bearing when installed you can see if your within tolerance.
Hello, the 5.7 engine does not need to close the cylinder system. Is it necessary to replace the solenoid valve to block? Do you still need to change?

Active runners make a huge difference, the 5.7 truck, 6.4 truck and 6.4 car all have active runners

It should be fine, the only main difference is the MDS cam is slightly less aggressive

Only difference between the blocks are the 09 block had extra oil passages for vvt

Yes going to up the compression ratio to like 11:1 also flows way better

Update so far so good. Haven't has any issues. I'm having trouble with TIPM radiator fans aren't turning on.

You made that look easy. I have a question. I have a 05 jeep wk with 5.7. I was told I had a blown head gasket and the jeep has over 230K. Is it worth it to just rebuild the motor instead of just doing the head gasket??
