I have a 639 and a 642 same board is correct. I've never seen one of those mics ever. They are great radios especially on ssb. Looking forward to seeing how it comes out.
Just for your information at least in south africa the royce 639 was sold with a standard royce mic that had a 5 pin to accommodate the volume on the microphone
Thanks Mike for getting the 639 back on the air! The old guy who I gave the radio too handle was GUZZLER in Hampton Bays Long Island N. Y . He was a hell of a nice guy to talk to after my mom died ! So I think this radio was 1975 build. 🇺🇸😎🎙📡 WR-038 UDX 038 aka JohnBoyUtah hammie ham KJ7TBR
"full featured."reminds me of a girl i once knew. thanks for the vid, ive not seen this particular model before but you mentioned the awesome 642 3- meter base! i looked for that mike info- nothing found.
Cool little rig you have 390. You know, everyone is on a "New Cap" kick right now. I've seen so many RUclips videos where someone has purchased or is getting ready to recap something. Like you, I wouldn't touch them, if that was a huge kilowatt tube linear that is exposed to some seriously hard work, then yeah, I'd test the filter caps in the HV rectification board, and what not. My feeling is if the rig has Crystal's in it, those will have a tendency to literally grow and drift the rig off frequency. Crystals will expand over time do to weather fluctuations, requiring them to be recalibrated. But that is a slim chance being that rig isn't from the 1920's or something...lol🤣👍 Great video 390, looking for the next action packed episode of the "Trials and Tribulations of UDX-390 at the test bench with the Royce SSB transiever"!!! 😏👍⚡️🎙
Fake Turner M+2 mike. Very interesting. Never seen one before. Afaik, Turner made desk mikes for Tram (Titan, Titan 2, and 2A) and Johnson (Messenger 223 (plus 2 style) and 250 (plus 3 style)). They made a lot of mobile mikes too but I can't remember any power mikes. Since this radio is a 40 channel I don't think that the slider pot controls the modulation, but Royce was fond of having an external volume control on the microphone. You're going to need to get the schematic to troubleshoot it.
I love it G4WBP is it for sale
👋 y’all. Oh yeah we not live. Cheers Mike.
Pretty cool old rig.

You do know that the ANL only functions in AM mode. NB works on both am/ssb.
Could the Power Microphone be a Mura PRX100
