Not that the Uniden Bearcat 980 was a bad radio, but the George FCC has really raised the bar. Yes, some of us still like the low watt, add an amp, 40 channel radios. This one really shines. So, if you were to open up clarifier, it is for the incoming radio that is off frequency. 🙃 Amazing power and stability!!! Awesome review, Matt. My McKinley was jealous....but only for a second or two. 😂 Great, in-depth review, Matt. 👊👊 😑🦗
Looks good on the scope and all that. Someone would definitely have a damn good radio once it’s fully modulated. Lots of flexibility to run a kicker if you’re so inclined. Whoever wins that one in the giveaway will definitely be a happy camper. Hell, I might even throw in on it for a backup radio for my truck.

Would this be a good truck radio? Hoping to find a 4 to 10 mile receive and transmit. Also what would be a good antenna to pair with it? Im on a cobra 29 with a old 2000 wilson. Will barely transmit 1 mile, can receive maybe 2 to 3 miles. And a lot of skip seems to come in. Anyway i dont know a lot about radios just getting into it. Thanks
Matt,do we know if she’s able to be modded any? Because I’m gonna be running what ever I decide on mobile for a change I don’t want to mess with external audio/processing. So of interest to me would be the 5 band eq/compressor & echo board from Ukraine, wideband tx/rx,upgraded power plug and maybe a 95 board & sink. I hear the European version of the radio is basically the same. Except the European version has a extra final, does 60 watts and a wire added for conversion plus extra channels. Mid 26Mhz to most all of 28Mhz.
The president George is the same as the export. Just have to add two missing components. A missing final transistor for full power output, and a jumper wire for expanded range.
Wrong, the George FCC cannot be expanded even if you put the wire and jumper in the board because the firmware itself isn't the same as the European George ll! The firmware will have to be updated to the FCC version before it can be expanded!
