    I worked at a CB/Stereo shop in 1976 thru 1978 as a kid. My handle was Bearcat after the first boxy radar detectors.

    I recommend the uniden pro 510xl, 520, and my hamshack has a 980 sitting at 38 lsb.. I often look at 38 lsb as a propagation beacon for 10 meters.

    I don't do 11 meters but did back in the 70s before Ham radio. Anyway I shared this video to 56000 maybe they will look around your store and get into Ham Radio also. 73 de KB9HGI

    You guys ought to start stocking the line of President CBs. The President George FCC puts anything Uniden or Cobra, and the McKinley II FCC has am-fm-ssb just like the George.

      We are not a CB store, so we sell CB radios and accessories that make sense for ham radio operators who also may want a CB.

    My parents bought me the Uniden AX144 in the 80s. They were a great radio. I still have it, but the NB doesn't work (bad caps I reckon) and signal meter has now seized.
    SSB CB is still the best range compared to UHF public bands (CB), radio to radio communications.

    jeff I have a 45 watt G M R S radio and the cable you talked about is a intercom box so all four people in your cart can talk to each other while trail riding

      Jeff is a guest on the channel and may or may not see your comment. Not sure which cable you're talking about, but good to know the intercom box exists for GMRS radios. While this video is about CB radios, we have a video on GMRS radios here: ruclips.net/video/iy13a8lOfJs/видео.html

    I've been licensed for over 20 years now and once in while you will other hams talk down CB. I understand where they're coming from, but I wouldn't necessarily discourage anyone from buying CB. True, the Amateur Radio Service requires an individual license, but having that license doesn't give anyone the right look down on Citizen Band FRS / GMRS or even MURS. The way we choose to communicate is our business as long as the FCC Rules and Regulations are followed in each service, who cares what radio service you use?.

    You guys are sounding more like J. Kruk - “Easy to- - - - - “

    • @HamRadioOutlet
      @HamRadioOutlet  9 месяцев назад

      The biggest barrier to people's entry into the radio hobby, is the fear of something being too difficult. Either the ham radio tests are too hard, or the antennas are too difficult to build or put together properly, or the radio is too difficult to use. If a radio is easy to operate, we'll tell you - even if we sound more like J.K. 🙂

    What models are all mode? AM SSB & FM?

  • @raymondkuhne7732
    @raymondkuhne7732 9 месяцев назад

    Can you please clarify to me what I am allowed to transmit on a CB ready without a license? The 40 original CB channels then how about upper and lower sideband, Am and FM channels in these radios. The Cobras and the Unidens that you are showing in this video can be used legally by the FCC without a license? I'm sorry to ask but back in the day all we could transmit on were the 40 CB channels only. Just requesting as I am reviewing these choices. Any assistance would be appreciated. Thanks

    • @HamRadioOutlet
      @HamRadioOutlet  9 месяцев назад

      You do not need a license to transmit on CB, using a CB radio. AM, FM, USB and LSB are all legal, as long as you are only using the 4 watts the radio outputs and are using an actual CB radio (not a modified ham radio). Just buy a CB and use whatever features it has. CB is voice only in the USA, no data modes allowed.

      @@HamRadioOutlet Thanks I keep looking back at what is shown. Is there one that has all. CB, am , fm usb and LSB on the same radio? I have GMRS radios with a 30 amp power supply. Wanting to add additional communication without going to all the test and additional expense of Ham. Might you suggest a few options. This will be used as a base with my existing 30 amp 12VDC supply. Thanks

      @@raymondkuhne7732 I'm sure they exist, but not in our current line-up, sorry. Well, yes, they do exist... a simple "AM FM SSB CB radio" search in Google produced this link: president-electronics.us/CB-Radios-Ham-Radios/AM-FM-SSB-transceivers We are not a President dealer.

    I was looking at purchasing a Bearcat 980SSB but after reading many reviews about the problem with the LCD display I have decided to wait. Do yo know if Uniden has rectified the problem with the LCD display on these units . Thanks for the great videos !!

    • @HamRadioOutlet
      @HamRadioOutlet  9 месяцев назад

      Sorry, but I really have no idea. I do not believe we get many returns on any Uniden products, so... maybe? A Google search for "Bearcat 980SSB display problems" does not give many results in the past year. Some suggest that it's really an issue with choosing the right color of the background LCD for the time of day/night.

      GMRS is great, if you have family members who also want to use radio without having to take a test, but, get your ham license... GMRS doesn't have SSB or shortwave capabilities!

      If you don't happen to have the RigExert analyzer in the vehicle with you, the SWR meter in the rig will still show you when there's a problem, and help you fix it. All ham rigs have SWR meters built in for exactly that purpose.
