I think I have seen like a million guitar lesson videos, but it is SUCH a comfort when the person giving the lesson can actually sing!! So unexpected but so good!! Thanks from the Netherlands ;)
God bless you! Today 14 years my father is dead, I see you and this wonderful voice... Yesterday I listen this music in the original version by Reo Speedwagon on my car and my son that haves 14 years old loved it... Today he asked me the music name.
Not sure if I ever thanked you for this tutorial on the REO song …but it’s really a good lesson, I learned this song and play it all the time so I just wanted to thank you again!!

Rob, thanks so much for letting me know that this was useful to you. Wow, you have the album. Mine is long gone. Really appreciate the kind words. Take care.
Golden. Ya got it or ya don't. You got it. Was about ready to fall asleep sitting at the 1am keyboard until your vid popped up. Woke me right up. Guess I'll be playing this one now, since it's "our song" here. I've found, the (cough) older I get, the softer and more quietly I sing, the higher I can get.
Thank you for taking the time to show us how to play this song. You make it simple to understand and i so enjoyed learning it. I wish i could sing it as well as you. It's a little high for me. Still it's a beautiful song. Have watched this tape many times. thankyou. Best Wishes.
I'm sorry if I missed replying to you. Thank you for watching my tutorial and for the very kind comment. I really appreciate your support. Thanks again.
dude, this is incredibly heartfelt, and true to the song. you sound fantastic (even the stretches) and the tune is wonderfully rendered from the piano. fantastic. thanks for posting it.
Man ... Thanks a lot ... you nailed that song amazingly ... one of my favorite tunes ever, and now I can play it on my guitar ... keep it up bro ... and thanks again for uploading this video
I was just glad that REO was a Midwest band. In the early years of the band they played all over. Saw them twice in the same weekend once. This song was a big hit of theirs. So many good songs they had 157 Riverside Avenue is a fav of mine. Happy New Year to you!
@@zerobio you're welcome. Is there any way you can perform this without the tutorial? I know Reo Speedwagon is incredibly difficult to sing, but I think if you're properly warmed up, you can definitely pull it off. Your higher registry is quite amazing, and the vibrato is spot on. Let me know if you will consider it... Thanks.
Hey if you search my Covers playlist you will find a version that I recorded a number of years ago. It's rather rough but it is what started people asking me for the tutorial. Hope you can find it on my channel dan409.
Awesome! I've been thinking about learning this, and this makes it pretty easy. Gotta comment, also, about your voice. Hoping you're making a living at this in some fashion, because you should be.
Cool ans thanks very much. I did music in the clubs in my teens and twenties and survived on that, barely. Nowadays, I'm a retired teacher doing 3d and some music.
@@zerobio hey. Yes it's super handy and I've loved the crowd reaction when i pull this one out of the bag on acoustic. It's been a while though and i had to refresh that Bm run. Looking forward to playing it again for the punters. Thanks a heap for your help!
Amazing voice. Just starting to learn the guitar and I really hope I can play this song just like this one day. Gotta keep practicing cause is not easy! 😰 thank you for this you’re really incredible! ☺️
Hey I appreciate that and wish you lots of luck and fun playing guitar and doing this song. Hang in there and keep on fighting even if it hurts at first cause it will get better :)
hi elliot... You're so awesome... I really like the way you show the chords. Ive learned it from you playing this chords to my guitar. Its very accurate... cheers!!!

Wow. If you recorded that I would buy it. You have a fantastic voice mate. I'll get the guitar part but there's no way I'll be able to sing it anywhere near as good.
Hey man, first of all, a happy new year to you and your family! What an unbelievable choice: SOOOOO HIGH, but soooo good! Loved this song when it came up. Realy fantastic and such a good tutorial!!! All the best from Germany / Cologne, Lothar as ELPI
Lothar, I'm sorry for the late reply. Want to wish you a belated happy new year as well and thank you for the kindness and encouragement over the past year. You are an inspiration and true musician. All the best buddy!
Hey man, I'm learning this song for a first dance and originally watched the Live Aid video where he plays the song with a capo on 2 and basically plays it in G. This is such a beautiful way to play it though and definitely the way I'm going to approach it. Thanks for a great tutorial & demonstration!
THANK YOU🌞 The missus loves to sing it and now i Can do her honour, while supporting on guitar. Its gonna be Christmas after all, thanks to you🎄🤗🌟🤗🎄 And merry Christmas to you + co.❤️🎵❤️
Hey, thanks again! I like how you teach. What a great song to learn. So, now it’s dungeon designs? I’m intrigued. But I gotta get through the music first. Kudos.
Thank you very much. Yeah, pretty much since my first kid was born, I've moved to a different hobby. Hope to do music again down the road but for now it is 3D. I appreciate your interest in the music, however.
Hey man. Awesome tutorial, and amazing voice!!!! Just wondering if you know how to do the intro though. And I'm pretty sure there is a similar part to the intro between the chorus and the second verse.

Thank you very much for this. And well sung. Any chance you can tell us ALL the chords in the REO intro and the pause between the chorus and second verse? I believe the Glee people use it on the 'oooohhh' bit at the end of their cover version too. It's got me stumped.
8 years later here we are still watching this. Crazy!
That's awesome Jake. Thanks!
It's 2021 and your version of this song still my number one favorite. 👍
