- Hurricane Irma is a category 5. It remains on a west-northwest path that is impacting Puerto Rico. The forecast cone is a straight line that could put it near or over the Bahamas and Cuba this weekend. While it is possible Irma may get into the Gulf. Most computer projections show a trough of low pressure arriving from the northwest this weekend to turn Irma toward the north. That means all of south and central Florida is a likely target.
Jose is now a hurricane- the 5th of the Atlantic season. It is east of Irma in open waters. It will strengthen and may also impact the northeastern islands of the Caribbean, before turning northward in the Atlantic and meandering for several days.
In the southwestern Gulf is Hurricane Katia- the 6th hurricane of the season. It will drift a little eastward and strengthen a bit more before turning southwestward to move into Mexico.
There have been 3 named storms at the same time in the Atlantic. In 2010, there were 3 hurricanes there in September. In 1998, there were 3 hurricanes and a tropical storm at the same time. The state of the atmosphere can change drastically by then so we watch daily to see what clues models are giving us. That’s why you always have to have a plan, in hurricane season, which runs through November.

This man just explained this to us in a way even my 3 year old would understand. This is great. He needs to be on a national platform. A master at work.
Teach school, be on Sesame Street, do a TV series on weather, or even take Roker's spot (Sorry Al, or anyone else's). if I was his boss, I'd hand him a blank cheque. You can tell this is someone who is not only passionate about weather, but wants US to be as well. Explaning complex terms we don't hear every day, even commonsense stuff that "no one ever bothered to explain before," in every day terms that aren't belitting or confusing, is not just a gift. It's art.
He's like a quirky high school science teacher. He's just really trying his best to get us to learn and understand things at this level. While not downplaying our intelligence.
I can see why this report is popular, he explained where the winds are most powerful very well. He also nails the fact that predictions are just that - the best guess we can make.

GameWorks12 Well for the most point, I think this is just natural. Personally I'm not defending it, but it's more of a dramatization of the given rather than a bias. For example, it is most likely to hit Florida, plus considering that it could be a worst-case scenario, I think the news would be able to fearmongerer.
But it depends to some extent to how you scaremonger. If it's for emergency response or warnings, then its fine on its own sense. But if used to encourage people to irrationally fear, then no.

This guy is the best. No bullshit, clear, level-headed, in-depth (but not overly complex) and science-based. I feel like I'm being let down by my local weather people. This is Super Weather Man. Who stays that chill with a Cat-5 on the go and another forming up behind! This guy does.
OMG what a fabulous forecaster! Mr. Sealls is the 'only' weather forecaster in my 73 years of life who has not used severe weather to spread unnecessary fear and anxiety throughout the land only so that he accumulates ratings. He is extremely factual and informative with the calmness necessary to assure viewers that they need to be aware and take his information seriously due to the fact that this hurricane is very destructive. He should be made a national forecaster immediately because of his calm demeanor and factual content without scaring the bejesus out of people, especially old people such as myself. I want to thank him for being the BEST WEATHER FORECASTER - BAR NONE.

This is the best presentation of weather conditions reported I have ever heard and I have been on this planet 46 years. The reason I am thoroughly impressed is because he is telling the truth about not knowing what will happen and that his models don't control the weather. In Los Angeles , California I'm always hearing the weather reporters like Al Roker and others in the morning on television talking as though the weather is in their control.
This weatherman is honest and forthright. He doesn't pull any punches and he is very direct!

I've known a lot of meteorologists in person, and they are usually kind and enthusiastic to share weather information. Even then, he is so wonderful at this.
