  • In this episode I install the clutch pedal, clutch master cylinder, and figure out routing for the hydraulic line. I also get my flywheel, pressure plate, and clutch installed. I pulled out the automatic transmission and alternator wiring harness and replace it with an OEM manual transmission one.

    Watched this video like 20 times while doing my manual swap, this video and your whole 300zx playlist is a life saver.
    The fact that you got that transmission out alone puts you in the top 10% of mechanics, it took me and my buddy like a month worth of work to drop the transmission and I’m not even including removing the exhaust, starter and drive shaft.

    16:50 that little plate surrounded by seam slealer just chizzles out and already has the correct holes pre-drilled from factory for the bolts and the master cylinder. Luckily you had long bolts so you made it work

      @@noboltsleftbehind I literally just finished now. My very first time removing a transmission from a front engine, RWD car. What an experience. It took me 2 days, doing it on and off.
      Yes, swivel socket 14mm for the top 4 bolts of the transmission, 36" of 3/8 wobble sockets, and 3 separate trips to Harbor Freight 😂😂 Harbor Freight is your friend!!
      Now I gotta order the LOJ swap kit. Hopefully removing the engine is easier without the transmission

      I love jdm cars but damn is the jdm scene straight cancer. I own a z32 and restored it and every time I take it anywhere the amount of kids who ask me when I’m gonna slam it and put stance wheels on it or what I’m gonna swap into it.
      Like bro I spent 2 weeks and $1k to get this engine in almost perfect condition I’m not gonna throw it out and swap in an LS until the motor blows.

    Hi, been loving the vids mostly because ive been having near identical issues with my Z (the hatch latch, the security system beeping when you remove the key etc) but im having trouble with my auto trans and i think i also lost 3rd and 4th gear and im planning my swap very soon. My question is how fast were you able to go when you lost 3rd and 4th because my Z caps at 40mph and feels like it doesnt want to shift. im just curious if 2nd gear is capable of going faster than 40mph

    • @noboltsleftbehind
      @noboltsleftbehind  Год назад +2

      Sounds about the same as mine, around 40 was the max. It also had trouble accelerating from a stop, I had to manually put it into 1st otherwise it was stuck in 2nd.

    Having trouble locating the clutch sensor wires. What did Yu take off or replace ?

    • @noboltsleftbehind
      @noboltsleftbehind  8 месяцев назад +1

      It’s a switch right on your clutch pedal, it will turn on/off as you press and release the pedal. I had to add my own wires for it, I don’t think an automatic car will have them. I crimped spade connectors to plug into the switch itself

    Hey Barry, do you remember how many bolts keep the auto transmission attached? It seems to be stuck at the top for me.

    • @noboltsleftbehind
      @noboltsleftbehind  Год назад +2

      I don’t remember exactly how many, but there are certainly two at the very top you’ll need to unbolt. I reached them by tilting the engine down a bit and using a bunch of socket extensions to reach from the tailshaft. A couple wobble extensions in the middle help a lot too.

    • @mariolutchman674

    Why do you need the alternator harness changed?

    • @noboltsleftbehind
      @noboltsleftbehind  Год назад +1

      The alternator and transmission wiring are combined into one harness, so to keep the wiring factory you need to replace the whole thing. The starter wiring is part of the harness too.
