Yes my childhood was filled with renting NES Super NES Sega PlayStation 1-2-3 you get what I’m saying it was so much fun on weekends you go to your best friends house rent movies and games I’m 38 so I had all the systems but we loved hitting the video store that’s for sure loved Saturday mornings if we went to sleep we woke up ate breakfast and played video games I would give anything to relive that time in my life
the screams were what first got me hooked on the game as a little kid. It was hilariously over the top and so satisfying. What's funny too is when you the contender get knocked off a platform, you hear a different falling, shouting sound effect, but it's understated, appropriate and fits the occasion, (just a soft, but uneasy "whooaaahh") not at all funny. But yet the Gladiators basically get their own Wilhelm scream effect.
here from cinemassacre because of the scream, but wow. they put so much love into all the sounds and music, its insane. every little thing has either a catchy jingle, note runs, or hard-hitting sound effect. my favourite is the wall climbing chase music
In my NES collecting days I always looked out for this game on my video game treasure hunts. Sadly, I never was able to find it. I looked forward to watching American Gladiators every Saturday. It was an amazing real life Running Man. I always wanted one of those giant turrets that shot tennis balls for personal/home use. Man I miss 80’s/90’s Saturday mornings.
As a kid that watched this junk on the daily (thanks to my Aunt) I begged Mom & Dad for this. Still have it, Still love it for the scream that would happen in the joust … For me Peek 90’s! Next to legends of the hidden Temple
@@MrKenichi22 Sounds like you have a great aunt and parents! American Gladiators was awesome and it makes me smile every time I think about it, even if by today’s standards it is ridiculous/a relic of the past. Thanks for sharing your story and keep that awesome game for another 30 years!
@@rjcupid Thanks buddy, yes, I had a great Aunt, & Mom & Dad whom at the very least dealt with or humored my antics, as a result I remember The Animaniacs and played lots of Nintendo in my youth…😊It be awesome if I still have the same Game & NES as a senior citizen 30 years from now in 2052. should still work, games like metroid seem to break when they turn 300 years old (as that one password makes it play like it’s 2287 AD). I will forever thank them, they plus my Grand parents made my life whole growing up, I won’t forget their love. ❤️
@@rjcupid Thanks Buddy, glad I made you smile, and yes I probably will be playing by 2052 and hopefully beyond, as I have been told gaming is good for the mind as it keeps you using your brain skills to use the right controls to play the game. So hope my games are useable by then, I will take the best care of them. Thanks for your encouragement my friend.
Oh, wow! They even included a stylized motif from the actual theme song of the show. _American Gladiators_ was always such a fun show to watch back in the day.
It was so fun. My whole family would gather around the tv and watch it. Little kids all the way to great grandmothers loved it. My grandma and grandpa would be cheering the most. Hilarious.
And my oldest son would always watch it every Saturday either before or after wrestling (WWE and WCW), every day in reruns on USA, Paramount Network, ESPN Classic, Charge and currently Paramount-owned PlutoTV.
That scream effect seems like it's one of those stock scream effects, you can hear it in Earthworm Jim's 'What The Heck?', and I believe it's even in one of the Call of Duty games.
The NES version was a lot better than the SNES version which is hard to believe honestly. I just preferred the gameplay of the NES season, brings back memories.
The scream is pure gold
Hahahajaj
I couldn't agree more! That scream is awesome 😎
I used to have so much fun with this one, and that scream sound is pure magic.
That scream should be used in every movie where someone dramatically falls down a huge chasm.
I was a weirdo and I actually loved this game back in the day
If you haven't done Heavy Shreddin' yet, you should play it! It was a fantastic shredboarding game
Legit gives the impression you just killed a guy.
@@PlasticCogLiquid I have, check out my NES playlist.
God, this takes me back. If there was a game based on a tv show or cartoon we rented it. We had fun with them most of the time.

Everyone's talking about the scream but the crescendo and the aggressive guitar riff when it tallies up your score is great too.
I’ve always wanted to hear what it would sound like if it kept tallying the score up indefinitely.
Yessssss! Man I miss being a kid playing this!!
This game was produced during Season 2 of the show, and this looks like it was based on both halves of Season 1.
The screams of the falling jousters is terrifying. Sounds like they are getting hacked to death with a 🪓.
It's like they just watched their friend or loved one die right in front of them.

All the comments about that hilarious bitcrushed scream, faith in humanity is still there.

First time I see a NES game with voice. Incredible

Thats the scream when you drop a cereal bowl on your toes
This was very hard

And some of the screams ended up in the Metal Slug games
I remember renting this game from Hollywood video in the 90s...then them charging me 14.99 when I didn't bring it back lol
Oh memories with this game. 😊❤
Hey cool, I loved this game and show back in the 80's😎
I didn't even know that there was a game, I got cheated as a child.
Amazing video.
I wasn't even playing and The eliminator looked damn hard WTF impressive.
1:25 You're welcome.
I really loved this game
😂, That's screaming is funny!
I played this game and think i still have it.
when the Gladiator goes ahhhh after being knocked off of something it makes me laugh
Making the most frustrating NES game ever look so easy makes this game even more frustrating.
My god. The memories
I never knew about this one! I always thought the SNES was the only game wow
Looks the best version

Level 4 Wall was hard AF. Still remember the password. ABAABBBB
The Wall used to have my fingers on fire lol
Cool
AAAAAAAAAGGHHH!
👍🏻
WHAAAAAYAAA!
AAAAHHHHHHHHHH!
I could’ve beaten this had it not been for the wall. The controls were busted.
i hate the last guy in level 4s human cannonball
This choppy framerate is Master System AF
This game wasn’t released on the master system 🤔
Hahaha eu gosto desse jogo, apesar dele ser uma porcaria
getn fancy on the zipline🤣
This was one of my absolute favessss as a kid!
ONE OF THE BEST NES GAMES EVER> GAMES EVER! Is here any one who beat whole game?
