Hey everyone! I just wanted to let you know that I’m aware the volume of my voice in these reaction videos is lower than the music. I’m sorry if it makes it hard to hear what I’m saying during the reactions. I’ll make sure to adjust the audio levels in future videos to improve this. Thanks for your understanding and for watching!StephGardLoveStephGardCute
Its better to pause spek abd go back few secconds and go further with the video. Pause is also used not getting blocken. You entered the rabbithole Welcome in the wonderful world of Epica. They got it all fro beautifull ballads to heavy songs
Just went to Epica Symphonic Synergy concert in Amsterdam, 11y after this concert - Epica is still alive and kicking - What an amazing show. Anything from this concert "Retrospect" or from "Omega Alive" (from the pandemic livestream) is gold - Go for it!
You've found one of the best bands and best genres on the planet. For a next song i would recommend Once Upon a Nightmare from their Omega Alive concert during the pandemic. It's spectacular.
Happy Birthday 🎉 This is my personal favorite band. Simone is an amazing singer. Welcome to the world of Epica ❤. A recommendation among very many good songs from Epica. Epica - code of life (Live at AFAS)
My first Epica love - this song! Still is! Simone just never gets old! Oliver Palotai, her husband, is one lucky dude! He plays keyboards in the band Kamelot and is very talented also!
it's actually really special to watch this video now.... epica did this show with live orchestra and choir in 2013. tonight i just got home from the "symphonic synergy", the first time epica did a concert since the one you watched!
One of the best and most consistent bands in the industry. Love these guys and they have a huge variety of songs. Highly recommend Victims of Contingency or The Essence Of Silence (both the official live versions) for some heavy and straight forward songs 😁
This probably the absolute best video you could have chosen for an introduction to both Epica and symphonic metal as a whole! Where to go next? I think something less ballad-y, such as "Consign to Oblivion" (live at Zenith in Paris, a video you will easily find) is a good choice. I think also "Serenade of Self-Destruction" (live from this same Retrospect concert) is a very good song and an excellent choice! So there you have two specific suggestions.
Simone Simons has one of the most beautiful voices in the metal world. By the way, she is a long-time very good friend of Floor Jansen, the leadsinger of Nightwish. From the same concert: Sancta terra (with Floor Jansen as a guest singer).
To bad you not joined last week on thursday or friday in Amsterdam. 10 years after this concert again with orchestra, choir and child choir. The sound was amazing and indeed music got ART again !! Proud to be Dutch !!! Strangly enough you speak you never heard of Symfonic metal, Nightwish you reacted to is the same genre ?! Only this is live with choir, orchestra. Try Consign to Oblivion live in Paris, just magical and amazing !!!! Or try Within Temptation another Dutch treat in this same music style. Try their Ice Queen !!!
You have a lot to discover from Epica ! When you want something else very special take an look at Ayreon ! Floor and Simone (from Epica) participate in a lot of songs !
Welcome to the Epica rabbithole. You seem very emotional at the end of the song, they will do that to you, I a grown man and lifelong metalhead, was crying just a few days ago when seeing them live, at their Symphonic Synergy shows in Amsterdam. The band has such an amazing discography, with so many amazing songs, that you will get a lot of different recommendations. The important part is to not get overwhelmed, pick one and go with it. The only rule should be to always go for live recordings, as Epica is simply a better band when performing live. I think whoever suggested this as the first song did an amazing job. Epica has songs ranging from soft ballads, to progressive death metal, and this one shows a big part of their range. It's also just one of my favourites. Similar to this is 'Design your Universe' from the same concert. If you want something really heavy I would suggest 'The Essence of Silence' the official live version If you want a soft ballad then 'Rivers - feat Apocalyptica' is a good choice
Happy birthday 🎉 Thank you so much for doing my request Simone is , in my view the best vocalist of our time If you want more If you want straight metal listen to Unchained utopia from Imega live concert If you want our dark fairy tale sound check out Once upon a nightmare from omega live concert A beautiful song for a beautiful realtor 🫶🫶🤘🤘🤘
Congrats on discovering Epica and adding some symphonic metal to the channel! 😊 May I suggest a nother band that absolutely worth cheicking out?! Have you heard of Nightwish? They are actually quite popular in South America.(In Brazil too) For starters try their song 'Ghost Love Score ' - Live at Wacken 2013. To give you some funfacts and maybe peek your interest Floor Jansen (the current singer of Nightwish) is good friend with Simone from Epica (She also made guest appearances at this Epica show at Retrospect) I may or may not tell you that she has a connection with Sabaton too, but I leave the revealing of that mystery to someone else 😂 Nightwish played at Rock in Rio a few times! I can't post links but you can find footage of then if you use the magic searchbar on youtube ;) Finally i'm glad I found your channel! Actually Band Maid brought me here I might suggest some J-metal too later (there is more than you think ) 😂
Now you need to listen to Nightwish. 'Ghost Love Score' would be a great start. Another good one would be 'Storytime'. The live performances at Wacken back in 2013 are a great choice.
Well done for playing this song most people review the two songs featuring guest. Singer Floor Jansen. Both are great friends Next thing you will be listening to Nightwish ❤
Épica is amazing ... The mix voices between operatic and Death growls create an atmpospheric like the Beauty and the beast .. I'd recommend The Essence of silence live official video, or Consign to oblivion live at Zenith
Not really the first time you've listened to symphonic metal. Nightwish fit squarely in that genre. Floor actually joins Simone for two songs at this concert. If you want to expand your horizons I'd recommend Ayreon. Start with the official video of The Day That The World Breaks Down (2017) - the most popular video (1.5M views) on Arjen Anthony Lucassen's youtube channel. Both Floor and Simone appear on that track.
Opera singers and orchestras are not a must in symphonic metal, but they give the subgenre its name. Female fronting is also typical. Epica is one of the most successful bands in the subgenre. I argue with Epica fans about the growler. I don't like him. In my opinion, there are better ones. Singer Simone Simons also performs solo: SIMONE SIMONS - Cradle to the Grave ft. Alissa White-Gluz (OFFICIAL MUSIC VIDEO) The reference band is Nightwish. Mastermind Tuomas Holopainen says quite immodestly: Symphonic metal existed before us, but we took it to a new level. The band had established opera singing in metal. One of their current singles: Nightwish - Perfume Of The Timeless (OFFICIAL MUSIC VIDEO) But there is also a more poppy version: Within Temptation - The Reckoning (feat. Amy Lee from Evanescence) live at the Worlds Collide Tour My favorite band is currently on a pirate voyage again: VISIONS OF ATLANTIS - Pirates Will Return (Official Live Video) | Napalm Records
well, you just dipped your toe into an ocean. you can stay with Epica for a few songs and listen to the range of thier music. or you can step into Nightwish and go down that rabbit hole. symphonic metal really has it all. I'm sure others will and have given you recommendations but, for my 2 cents I would say Storm the Sorrrow and Unleashed, both from the Retrospect Live show.
Unleashed is a fun song and the rendition during this concert is great, but Chasing the dragon is one of the most clear examples of symphonic metal out there. The mix of styles in this song (taking you on a journey), the 3 different voices (Simone, choir and Mark's growls) each presenting a specific character and last but not least a true composition for the orchestra, a lote more intricate than "just some violins in the background". Unleashed will grab you the first time you hear it, but in Chasing the dragon you can find new gems each time you hear it.
This is a newbie Symphonic Metal it's light, But really good song everytime i cry it's so beautiful. Also check out Cosign to Oblivion is heavy really heavy. Nightwish is the founder and creator of Symphonic metal as a genre Metallica was the inspiration for it, which even to this day you hear Metallica in their sound a lot more nowadays then in the older stuff. Another honorable mention is Seven Spires the lead does both voices one fora ghost/banshee the other is siren it's a story about them seeking eternal life by finding the fountain of youth and a god punishing them. Si it's an Opera and a metal, she has 3 actual operas written creating one of the few operas made in America.
Congratulations you just discovered one of the greatest bands in the world 🙃
She has!
I agree
Agreed!
Achievement unlocked!
Same concert, Retrospect, the song 'Design Your Universe'. It is simply stunning, supreme in every conceivable way.
I've seen this band live five times so far. They are an awesome live act. The energy at their shows is out of this world!
That contrast between dark and light is delicious! Epica is something very special, it is the fine wine of metal. Their music is art.

A recommendation among very many good songs from Epica.
Epica - code of life (Live at AFAS)

Welcome to Epica , you wil have sooooo much fun 😁👍👍👍👍🌺🌺
I can claim with certainty that no one's life is the same after earing Epica for the first time.
This probably the absolute best video you could have chosen for an introduction to both Epica and symphonic metal as a whole!

A 3hr concert, all whilst being 3 months pregnant.
Symphonic metal is a world that welcomes you. Kamelot, Seven spires, ad infinitum, Haggard, Nightwish, Visions of atlantis, Sirenia, and so much more!
Do also: Epica ft. Apocalyptica (with the song „Rivers“) - you will like it ❤
That's Simone Simons, one of the true Queens of Symphonic Metal, all hail. Honor her always!
YES I SAW THEM BACK IN 2009 WITH SYMPHONY X IN SAN ANTONIO TEXAS ....IT WAS AWESOME
Next Epica song - Once upon a nightmare (Omega alive show)

This whole concert is amazing but Sancta Terra is my favourite if you're watching another 🤞
When Metallica did this metal/symphony mix back in the 90s (S&M 1), I thought it was a crazy one-off. I had no idea an entire genre was created.

hi Steph, EPICA feat. APOCALYPTICA - Rivers (Live At The AFAS LIVE) is a nice one.
Congrats on discovering Epica and adding some symphonic metal to the channel! 😊 May I suggest a nother band that absolutely worth cheicking out?! Have you heard of Nightwish? ¡Excelent! Next step: Nightwish adn/or Floor Jensen
Nightwish 2013 live concert next. Floor Jansen is the Valkyrie Queen!
@@RossNixonYuo and Simone is a goddess and Siren Of The Universe
This retrospect concert is 3 hours long so lots of songs from here. Would suggest you try Once Upon A Nightmare [ Omega Alive } version
Loved it very beautiful you always rock and are pretty too keep up good work, need some NIGHTWISH,

Hi, here is a great song and performance from EPICA, this was from a concert last year in Amsterdam 🙃
EPICA - Unleashed (Live At The AFAS Live)
Well done for playing this song most people review the two songs featuring guest. Singer Floor Jansen. Both are great friends
Next thing you will be listening to Nightwish ❤
Subscribed because I hope you react to more Epica!
Thanks ❤❤❤
Épica is amazing ... The mix voices between operatic and Death growls create an atmpospheric like the Beauty and the beast ..
I'd recommend The Essence of silence live official video, or Consign to oblivion live at Zenith
Welcome to the symphonic metal! 🤘🏽😉
Just wait until you hear nightwish ghost love score
Choose the live version from 2013 in wacken/ germany. It‘s unbelievable
Kingdom Of Heaven 1 or 3 IS THE magnum opus of symphonic METAL. 🤘🏻
It's not the first time you're listening to Symphonic Metal. You've already listened to Nightwish a few years ago 🙂
True. Also true Simone and Floor, both from the Netherlands, have sung together for Epica

Such disrespectful to call Mark Jansen, founder and main songwriter of Epica "the growler"
@@dac2007 Excellent songwriting and founder doesn't excuse bad vocals. Epica would be better off passing the mic to someone more capable.
