Great video Capitán! What is the actual overall weight of your boat, gear and fuel? Do you feel you could have done a 24v instead of the 36v? (I guess you can answer that better after your sea trial) I am undecided between a 24v with 170 amp batteries OR the 36v with 120 amp batteries. Battery space restrictions is my problem. Trying to find that balance between weight, thrust and power consumption with the room that I have. Thank you for all these videos.
@@OutOnTheReef Thank you! May I suggest now a solar battery charger to keep your batteries toped off especially with all the long trips and overnight adventures you are on.
NOOOOO!!!!!! Don't drill!!! Clean w/Acetone & mount with HD double-sided Gorilla mounting tape. It's so strong you need a blade to cut it off, you can move if needed, and no holes in your boat. All I have used for years. Awesome stuff. Probably too late for you, but maybe I can save someone else from drilling holes in their boat.
Keep your eye on the coiled wire beneath the Minn Kota head. On spot lock sometimes mine isn’t smart enough to unwind itself and you look at it and it’s wound the wire three times around the shaft. This could rip the wire out of the head. Maybe yours is smarter than mine is. I have the Terrova i-pilot 2 years old.
If you really want your trolling motor to perform, have better control in wind, and use less battery power, get a Kipawa propeller. I have been running them for 5 years now with no issues. I will not run a trolling motor without this propeller now. I am not sponsored by this company. They simply have a great product, and I have used it in rivers, sounds, and in the ocean. @@anthonynunez164 thanks cap. And i hope you have a great installation and remember always mark twice before drilling 😉👍👍🛥
That’s great for fishing when your out at sea. Can you integrate that with your auto pilot as well to keep you in one spot? Thanks captain
Great job brother
Navigate safe
It's only integrated with hummingbirds chartplotters those are the only units that you can pair them because it's from the same company.
Thanks for watching buddy and goodnight Will👋
K, thanks captain
When do you install solar panels?
i don't have room for it so generator is the best way to go now cap
@@OutOnTheReef You have room on either side of your radar for (2) 100 watt flex panels! (47" by 22")
and not a Cap yet...still a Petty Officer 1st Class USNR!...lol
Hey Cap! What lake is this?
Hello cap. Is called Tohokapila lake i think thats the name cap. Thanks for watching
Does your kill switch gizmo pair with the Minn Kota too?
No it doesn't I'm not sure I need to find out but I always carry the Minn Kota remote with me when is moving for safety
I am going really slow so there shouldn't be a problem by falling into the water bike movement of the boat
@@OutOnTheReef I can tell you take safety seriously and genuinely I wasn't suggesting you were taking any chances. I am impressed with the Minn Kota. It would almost work as a get you home engine should your Yamaha let you down. You can see in the video too that the new battery weight has changed the attitude of the boat. I live in Ireland and I have a similar boat but a little smaller. I run a 90hp two stroke Yamaha. Fuel prices are crazy here. Anyway keep the vlogs coming and Navigate Safe. Sean
@@phdconstructioncork thanks Sean for being an awesome you were my channel and stay warm up there Captain I know it's very cold soon.
Navigate safe 👍👍🏝
Hi, go team Parker!!!! Good job on video. Well done. Curious..... What is the generator being used for?
Thanks cap. I use the generator to run the air conditioner charge the batteries and thank you for your positive feedback😉👍👍
Crooked pilothouse boat
Hi there.
Did you have a offset ? one more do thing.
I'm sorry Captain what was the question again
@@OutOnTheReef
after install a minkota.
first, heading sensor calibration and then set a offset.
@@Boat_FishingDoduJeju the calibration on the heading sensor is very simple all you have to do is connected to the Bluetooth of the system and pointed for that is all
@@OutOnTheReef after one more. it is a sensor offset.
that menu is below sensor cal menu.
if you do heading offset you experience more accurate.
@@Boat_FishingDoduJeju I'm not sure captain this is something that I probably have to look at
Captain, you can use ut as a bow thruster to dock better on Bimini so you do not need to use you Dingy
I don't know if it work for that but I will try to learn how to use it to dock the boat.
Great idea though
Hi captain i just follow ur channel,,,u really have a great boat,,,im in love with it,,,may i know the length of ur boat and the beam?
Thanks cap it is avery special Crooked PilotHouse Boat

Omg that was awesome, I’m thinking of getting one of those, just not sure if it will work on our mako 26!! You are the best!! Lyuber
Thank you for watching and I hope it works for you make sure the weight of your boat comes in the specs of the Minn Kota and you should be fine and if you do I advise you to get more battery power since your boat is bigger
It will work, but consider upgrading to the Ulterra 112/72. It have deploy and stow and better GPS. I have a Humminbird Solix and they can be controlled from the fish finder too. Riptide if you're Salty!
I have the same
One on my 252. I did lithium batteries. Holds great, even in 1-2 seas
@@LutzCnC yes it's awesome I even seen them hold a boat in 4 ft Seas it's an awesome unit
Are you going to put any type of solar to keep those batteries charged on you r trips to the Bahamas? if you use it to lock like that then it will run those batteries down pretty quickly.
He put an alternator so the motor charges the trolling motor the GPS on top does not use any charge at all just about
That's why I have my generator it gives me plenty of power for my air conditioner and charging batteries
@@natehowell793 I have my generator so that's why I have no problems with power charging
@@OutOnTheReef I have run my mine literally all day and night and not run my batteries down. Right now I fish the Ohio river below the locks and I have been on spot lock in a 2.5 to 4 kt currents for 6 to 8 hours at a time and never lose battery power.
@@jimbruce9744 whow thats awesome use of your batterys cap.
Thanks for sharing your results cap.
All that lake overgrowth is caused by fertilizer runoff. Biscayne bay has finally caused government to pay attention, due to all the fish dying over the past few months. Nice work on that install Capt.!
sad to hear Jason and thanks Cap. for watching my channel⚓👍
Curious captain, why did U choose MK over Rhodan?
I never heard of that brand I have only heard about Minn Kota and another brand but not that one why is it better
I recommend east toho there is no grass and it is close to west toho
Very true cap is just farther for me
How many feet is this boat ?
Is 21 feet
Hay capt what spot lock would you recommend in terms of a good price range
i paid for mine $2299. plus $900 on batteries charger and plates and bolts
how big is your boat and weight cap?

Where can I get a shirt like yours?
You can get it at Amazon just search for out on the reef or crooked apart a house And the shirt should appear
Thanks for your support
You should remember to list the riptide in each one of your Minn Kota videos. Would you rather have somebody buy a stainless steel washer through your link or a riptide?
The only thing is Amazon don't have the exact same model that's why i don't list it cap.
@@OutOnTheReef Just list which ever model they have thats closest. As long as they use your link, it helps you out towards gas and accessories and its our way of thanking you for being able to watch all your great vids. People don't have to buy the exact same model. Some like me, only need the Terrova model for fresh water use. The white ones are for salt water use.

what is te boat name
Is a crooked pilothouse only one Built This Way captain
Great video Capitán!
What is the actual overall weight of your boat, gear and fuel? Do you feel you could have done a 24v instead of the 36v? (I guess you can answer that better after your sea trial)
I am undecided between a 24v with 170 amp batteries OR the 36v with 120 amp batteries.
Battery space restrictions is my problem.
Trying to find that balance between weight, thrust and power consumption with the room that I have.
Thank you for all these videos.
my boat weight is 4600 lb loaded and for sure the 24 volts is not enough for this boat i can tell you that for sure.
what is your boat weight cap?
Thank for the answer Cap. Mine is just under the 4000 mark. Yes everything point to the 36v for my boat. I'll wait to see your sea trial.
@@jejoko I agree Captain without weight is similar to mine and this is the biggest motor they have I will keep you updated in the future trips👍👍
@@OutOnTheReef Thank you!
May I suggest now a solar battery charger to keep your batteries toped off especially with all the long trips and overnight adventures you are on.
@@jejoko thank you that is an awesome idea I really appreciate your suggestion captain👍👍🏝
LOL I know what you're saying captain thanks for the great suggestion😂👍👍
Keep your eye on the coiled wire beneath the Minn Kota head. On spot lock sometimes mine isn’t smart enough to unwind itself and you look at it and it’s wound the wire three times around the shaft.
This could rip the wire out of the head. Maybe yours is smarter than mine is. I have the Terrova i-pilot 2 years old.
Wow that's great to know Captain I will keep my eye on it thank you for the heads up you're awesome👍👍
Wow capt im trying to make up some money for one
little by little cap save up so you can get one, is awesome unit
Gators no thanks give me that Atlantic Ocean
LOL I feel the same way Morris
Your line is dragging in the water !
lol i saw that later , thanks cap for the heads up👍👍😀
If you really want your trolling motor to perform, have better control in wind, and use less battery power, get a Kipawa propeller. I have been running them for 5 years now with no issues. I will not run a trolling motor without this propeller now. I am not sponsored by this company. They simply have a great product, and I have used it in rivers, sounds, and in the ocean. I have the exact same trolling motor you just installed, and it runs awesome with the Kipawa propeller. www.kipawapropellers.com/store/p13/Kipawa_112_fits_Minn_Kota_112_Pound_Thrust_Motors.html#/
Thanks Captain for sending me the link I will look into it.
