Treat video. I've been wanting one and am finally going to pull the trigger for next spring. I fish ocean jetty's and high current areas around bridges with my 17' Boston Whaler I'm tired of busting my back pulling my my anchor. This is going to up my game and allow me to fish some tournaments next year and be competitive.

Thanks for the video! How many powerful batteries to use for trolling let's say 4 hours?

Hey Josh. I have the exact same boat as you. I was thinking about getting the same trolling motor - 24v 80lb thrust - only in the freshwater version mostly for spot lock. I wasn't exactly clear on the Ah of your AGM batteries. I have been considering two LiFePO4 12v batteries at 100Ah each. Thoughts? Should they last all day given I will be using in a similar manner as you - deep water laker jigging in some rough open water.

Great video - and thank you... I have a lighter 16ft v-hull Fiberglass with 30HP setup that I'm on the fence whether to go 12V or 24V, and whether to go spot-lock, as I'm trying to reduce the weight on the skiff, yet something that I really don't do is fish solo... this setup makes you completely independent, which intrigues me. I feel like I may in fact use the boat more, vs waiting for someone to fish with. Can you add a link to the batteries you use. I did a google search with what you said verbally and I don't think I was in the right place. Thanks again.

You gotta have spot lock! Once you have it it's hard to believe you fished without it. If you fish a lot of current like salt water tide areas get the 24 v setup. I have seen the 12v version give up when it's there is too much current. The batteries I used in this video are commercial batteries that came with the boat and I just switched them to PowerQueen lithiums. 100amp hour amzn.to/46mh5uv

@@BendItFishing thanks for the reply dude. You find these lithium’s are worth the costs? I’m fishing a tide but not a current, I think the 24V maybe a bit of overkill imo, I’ve really never worked a trolling motor like this, so it adds another dimension to what I will be able to do. I’ll be fishing around islands in the Florida intercostal lagoons. Im just dreading the cost of the 24V plus 2 batteries to run it, right? You think I’ll regret not going with a 24V setup?

You will probably be fine with 12v setup. I fish tidal rivers which have more than a 4 mph current sometimes. The lithiums are great they are light weight and can run for a couple days with a boat that size. What I would do is buy the terrova riptide 12v with spot lock and get the biggest lead acid battery you can to start they last 3 years or so if you are not full time boating like me. Good luck

Really? I have it and the motor has fits and sometimes shut down. Once it shuts down, it doesn't go down all the way. Ask me, it's junk. Battery voltage is fine.

What do you mean it doesn't go all the way down? Do you have an ulterra?
