- Today we are showing you what’s involved with wiring in mains powered smoke detection.
This is just a little video for new comers/apprentices.
It is also aimed at landlords to help them with the new changes to the rental laws coming into effect this year.
I’ve let leighton do this whole installation himself.
See how he gets on 👀
The fire alarm certificate Is a BS5839

As a recently retired industrial sparks of 50 years, good job mate
Thank you mate
Hi Wayne, the reason you need to secure the cable with fire clips is to protect firefighters who may be in the building when the fire has developed sufficiently to melt plastic clips and trunking. Visibility would be zero ans a number of firefighters have sadly lost their lives because they became entangled in loose cables.
Nice job all round gents!
Rented properties in England have required a smoke alarm on each floor for quite a few years now. They must also have a carbon monoxide detector where there is a solid fuel burner in a room.
Yes same in wales. We are just a little behind 🤣🤣🤣
Good information video, but having fallen off a step ladder myself, dislocating my ankle and breaking my leg, I was cringing watching your lad on the top of those fibreglass steps climbing into the loft hatch. Not only were the steps far too short they were at the top of the staircase as well. Everything's good, until it isn't !!
Appreciate the feedback mate, will be taken on board
i think i have fallen in love with you so helpful thank u .....xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx
😂😂😂
Nice one 😃
👌🏻
The legend looks like he could do with a good kip.
Teenagers for you, always tired that lad
And here was I thinking that the Welsh could sing. Nice video though.
🤣🤣🤣 god loves a trier right?
It’s been legislation in Scotland since last year I believe but not in England yet 🤷♂️
To be honest it should of been everywhere for years, I can’t speak for England but wales was supposed to be this month. They have now postponed it until December for some reason 🤷🏻♂️
Wayne, you cheeky devil. I can't imagine anyone calling you an a-hole. Nice video. Reminds me to replace the bloody batteries in my smoke detectors. Ha!
Hahaha well at least the video served a purpose! Get it done 🤣🤣
👍👍👍My old China
Building Regs asked for hard-wired alarms with sprinklers in Swansea....(2022)
Yeah need sprinklers on a new build 👍🏻
👍
Cheers mate
Aren't you supposed to have a means of isolating the alarms separately to the lights? I tend to put in an FCU from the light feed and then run cable from there.
That’s a good idea, I just find if they are on there own supply tenants turn them off if they annoy them. I put them on with the lights so that this doesn’t happen
That's why I run them off the lights and to an unswitched FCU. Then they can't turn them off unless they pull the fuse
@@lh2589 agree with you mate, it’s a good idea. I just never thought of it
Where would you put the FCU. Left in the attic or under the floor joist?
Not heard of that one before. I’ve read the Aico manual from cover to cover and it doesn’t mention that it needs to be isolated separately from the lights.
A pound a metre???
My missus has been overcharging me for years, should only have been shelling out six and a half pence on my birthday!
🤣🤣🤣🤣
Do you need to turn off your full electricity power of
It would be the safest option yes
@@Waynesworldofgaming I have the council worker coming out he is a electrician I think do they need to turn off the full mains as I will not be in at the time they are there I think its just a carbon monoxide needed in my room beside the boiler but not sure about the smoke alarms they look as if there stuck to the roof basically I need to no if my full electricity boy needs turned off
@@kevingardiner1407 no it doesn’t all need to go off, just the smoke alarm/lighting circuit
@@Waynesworldofgaming thanks mate 👍
@@kevingardiner1407 No problem
What is the model you installed
