    I've got the mystic and it sounds incredible. Considering buying all 3 others. I use them as stand-alone preamps into a power amp / cab

    I bought the Silk. No regrets! Great alternative to lugging an amp around.

    After watching this and reading the manual, I'm still confused about what the difference is between the STD mode and the PRE mode. What are the two modes doing differently?

    • @GreenHoleSun
      @GreenHoleSun 7 месяцев назад

      I suppose STD mode is to be set when you use the device as a pedal (to be linked to a real amp); the PRE setting is intended to be used when connecting directly to the power stage of an amp or an IR loader.

    I know these are made for guitarists, but do you think these would benefit synthesizer players? The oscilloscope would clearly be useful, so would the simulator/pre-amp add anything?

    From everything I’ve heard of these pedals, they are very smooth-no sharp edges. No harshness anywhere. Is that a function of how these are voiced /engineered? Or is this a characteristic of the NuTubes?

    • @VoxAmpsVideos
      @VoxAmpsVideos  3 года назад +3

      It's a bit of both! The Nutube helps give a more rounded response to your playing dynamics, and the pedals are all voiced to be bright without getting harsh

    If I wanted to use the cab mode straight into my DAW, could I put another overdrive pedal in front, just as I would with an amp?

    • @VoxAmpsVideos
      @VoxAmpsVideos  3 года назад +3

      Yup! A great way to use these pedals is at the end of your pedalboard acting as your amp in preamp or cab sim mode. And thanks to the Nutube, your overdrive pedals will respond and feel natural as if going into a tube amp

      @@VoxAmpsVideos Excellent! Many thanks! My beloved AC15 will always be number one, however I'm thinking that the Mystic Edge would be a great silent recording option :)

    How clean can the copperhead go if I were to use it as a pedal platform "amp"?

  • @adilO.o
    @adilO.o 3 года назад +4

    I just ordered the Copperhead and Mystic Edge and can't wait to plug them into my Two Notes CAB M+ !! I have really high expectations 😄😄😄 These pedals thick the boxes of everything I thought was missing on the MV50 amps 😀

    Can the Silk Drive be used with gain down to simulate a clean channel on a tube amp? If so, will it sound and respond like my Vox MV50 Clean?

    • @VoxAmpsVideos
      @VoxAmpsVideos  3 года назад +2

      You can use it as a fairly clean amp replacement, but not quite to the point of the MV50 clean. Think more like the Boutique amp models on the Cambridge50 or the Tweed and BTQ amp models on the VTX amps

    Can somebody tell me if it‘s ok to run several digital/analogue Pedals like Delay or Reverb after the Mystic Edge set as Preamp? Or will the output of the Mystic Edge be too high and therefore cause problems with any pedals further down the signalpath? thx

    can these be used as preamps like mv50 series (except the powering a cabinet part)? I'm currently building an ampless rig using a mv50 clean and a cab sim pedal, I wonder if I can get a similar sound with just a Silk drive at low gain

    • @VoxAmpsVideos
      @VoxAmpsVideos  3 года назад

      Yes, absolutely! You can use the cab sim mode just like you would the headphone output of an MV50, or if you want to power a cabinet you could take the preamp mode into an external power amp

      @@VoxAmpsVideos Will this approach work with the mv50 Clean as the power amp? Can the PRE output of a Valvenergy pedal be fed into the input of an mv50 clean amp and then to a cab? Will that work and sound good? Or will that be too much Nutube sound in series? Any potential risk of damage to any of the two units?

    Watching the various videos about these pedals, they do appear to have some very nice tones on tap. As a simple person though, I'd like to see stripped back versions: no CPU, no screen, no mode switches, and no link feature. Just straightforward effect pedals.
    Another point that never seems to be addressed in pedal reviews is background noise: at high gain levels I'd expect some hiss, but how do the new Vox pedals compare against those from other manufacturers at lower gain settings?

    not as good as a real tube pedal that Vox made
