- Integrating high-intensity interval training (HIIT) in the pool is an effective alternative to land training and a great way to add variety to existing water routines. Check out this versatile pool-based HIIT program, which integrates vertical and horizontal methods, and includes optional equipment to progress or assist, depending on the swimming abilities of your clients.
Love all of these exercises and add several different arm movements with the jacks and cross country, usually 30-45 seconds per movement depending on class demographics. Am in awe how much patrons love to be worked intensely regardless of age....all I ask is that they work at 110% of what they think they can do....and they surprise themselves with progress!

Great job. I have been doing deep water aerobics for 8 years and it is such a great form of exercise. I love tabatta in the water also. Talk about heart exercise!

This is so great! I’m now able to get my heart rate up in target range. I’m 62 and switched to pool work out from gym because of arthritic knees.
I have developed a shoulder problem with swimming so this is a great alternative for me

Can add more resistance by wearing loop resistance bands at your thighs. I found i was able to move from medium to extra strong resistance in 3months. Hige difference in lower body toning and muscle growth.

All of these involve the entire lower body and core. Make sure you don’t stay on balls of feet the entire time.

How do you feel after this workout? Is it a lot on the muscles? Could you do another workout the next day or should you rest afterwards?
Most people can workout in the water every day. The benefits of water workouts allow faster recovery and less muscles soreness, although you may not be comfortable doing high intensity everyday.

How do you remember all the moves as an instructor? I find it hard to give a session for an hour and try to remember 100 moves. Is it some kind of improv sometimes?

You Don't say how many reps. Or how long.
How much calories are burnt for these? Say a minute for each exercise and repeating the whole routine 3x, thus a 30 minute HIIT aqua workout.

I don't see how these are HIIT excersises. They do not look high intensity at all. The whole point of HIIT is going all out until you can't anymore then rest until you can go all out again.
