How to Keep Your Legs Fom Sinking in Freestyle

- A very common issue in freestyle is when a swimmer's legs sink. This doesn't usually have much to do with how hard they're kicking. It's more about posture and core engagement. Watch this video and follow this drill progression to improve your body position for a faster and more efficient freestyle

You don't need 20 minute videos when you really know what your talking about. Best swim vids out there. Thanks C.
You're a great teacher; so informative.
Chloe..... You Genius ❤️❤️❤️
After 30+ years of doing it wrong.
I can finally kick "my anchor legs"
The problem with many beginners swimming techniques is bad training. Many start with a friend teaching them the dog style. Where you simply famble in water ..mixing short free pulls..hands wide apart ..head above water while doing frog kicks. Once one is able to float with this mixed tech it is hard to learn the basics.. one finds it hard yo do proper techniques and refuses to learn.
In my experience it is easier to train one who cannot swim at all than one with these mixed motions.
With free style..start with leg strokes.. master the leg strokes ..then learn the arm pulls...then learn body rotations then breathe.
All these can be learned in two sessions. Provided the student is good at listening
The problem i face the most is that when I am only kicking my legs ,i hardly move a few feet and then get tired
Just want to say thanks so much for making all these videos! I only just started swimming, your videos are so extremely helpful. And I think you are awesome!
Great video, thanks Chloe.... How could 297 people actually dislike this video? The internet is weird!!
Oh Thank you so much for this.I have saved some money to learn how to swim on RUclips. Will share this video.
Engaging the glutes did the trick for me! Thanks a lot!
This is by far the most helpful tutorial as well as narration EVER! My problem is sinking when trying to swim. I’m headed to the pool in a few, now I know what to do 😉
One of the best Videos ever 👏👏👏
This is awesome! I have been practicing the freestyle drills you recommend in your other videos and they have definitely helped me improve my technique. I will add these to my routine.
I love your technical drills
Love your channel so much! I am passionate about swimming, and watched a bunch of your videos to learn by myself. You are so professional! Thank you very much! By the way, love the way you make videos. The episode and the background music make it so fun! Hope to learn from you one day and to be a professional swimmer like you!
Thank you so much. This is what i been looking for.
Amazing drills. Thank you !!
G'Day from Australia! Your awesome. I really like the idea of balancing a paddle on the crown of the head drill. Thanks for all the trips.
Just got my 2nd private lesson and am doing your video and is consistent with my instructor's. Your videos are awesome and thank you for sharing, I am a 67 year old first time swimmer.
Hooray for you... I took my 1st lesson at my 60th birthday. It's never too late to learn.

You go girl!
Drill no.4 single balance breath that's the most important and toughest, if you master it you can swim longer and faster without gasping for air.
Thanks for the video.
Thanks for the tips. I used to swim competition at a younger age, I’m rehabilitating now at a later age in life, thanks for the tips
Have not swim for a long time. I dont know or i can swim or float in the water. But this kinda calms me down. Gonna practise this soon before my holiday comes 🤣
One of the few video's on subject where drills to correct are provided, thank you
Thank you Chloe for putting up these tips they are really helpful
I did 6 of these drills yesterday and they helped so much while being fun at the same time (I did feel sore the rest of the day so maybe it was too much fun 😂). I was finally able to move a significant distance while kicking. The improvement on the overall freestyle won't happen overnight BUT this helped tremendously to improve body position awareness and it gave me tools to check each individual component of the technique. THANK YOU!
Very useful advices and drills, and really well explained too. Thank you very much!!
My pleasure!
So clear and cool I love it 😊
Best advice ever, short but very practical ! Thanks.
Thanks!
Great content miss, I've learned a lot from you'r videos.

Thank you. After giving up years ago, I am trying again to learn to swim. These videos are so helpful. And why are commenters worried about her make up. Obviously, when making a video that people will watch over and over, one might want to look her best.
Thank you! Yes!
The guidance you gave seems really nice. I am gonna try in my next session and let you know

thks,.. really love this part
Thanks for the video. I think you may have hit on something I never gave a moments thought to when swimming… having an actively engaged core. I’ll try to incorporate this into my swimming next time I’m out.
Yeah! ENGAGE your core! Sometimes we forget our bodies have everything to do with actually swimming!
That's true not only for swimming, it helps in many activities. E.g. slacklining.
Excellent video. Thanks.
Thanks for those drills brill
Now thats a good video and technique for correcting sinking legs❤❤👍
This is very helpful for me.. thanks for making this tutorial 😁😁
Great Coach... Today I tried kicking drill and came to know what is actually swimming from the core. Thanks 🙏
Good swimming teacher, easly understood
Best video ever👌🏻
Always to the point, thanks!
Thanks!
Thank you Chloe for the video! I was stuck with leg sinking for the longest time, until I tried the drill #4 and I finally figured out which core muscle to use to keep the feet up. In addition it corrected my bad habit of pushing my hand down to breath. I swim so much more efficient now. :) By the way drill #1 still seems impossible to me...
Thank you so much.

Sound on this video is much better now, Can hear you now without the Echo sound.
Thanks for the lovely video Chloe x.
Insightful. Thanks
Ok...these look really tough! I know I have the power in my upper body but my legs are just like rocks. I'm going to try these for a few weeks as part of my warmup and see how it goes. Thank you!!
Oh, wow. Now I get why Olympic swimmers swim twice as fast as my best sprint.
Awesome video! Thank you for your recommendations! As you mentioned in your video it is not that easy to stay horizontal to the water surface while swimming the front crawl. For me at least it is extremely hard to do, my legs are sinking so much. I will surely do the drills you are recommending to do and see what happen! Have a pleasant day.
