Of all the things I love you teaching and spending time with gunner. He will never forget these times. My dad when I was 7 and never had a father figure in my life. Well done Mike. God Bless.
Love the old iron. No electronics, no fancy controls, that girl will be running long after all the new modern equipment has been melted down and been made into something else. Thanks for sharing.
Great job Gunner! ... Mike you're a good father. Not too many Dads out there teaching kids how to fix things for themselves anymore people would rather keep their kids occupied with video games ... Thanks for another great video I really enjoy watching you guys keep them coming ✌🏻🇺🇲
Pretty cool that it appears that the exhaust for the pony motor runs through the intake of the diesel to preheat the incoming air for cold starts. 👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻
There is nothing like bringing a piece of history back to life DP. Years ago, as a senior in high school, I talked a neighbor farmer into selling me his old 1937 hand cranked 4 cylinder Silver King tractor along with a Oliver 5 foot sickle bar mower. It took all my savings from 2 summers of bailing hay and a local grocery store. I spent hours in restoration when not working the 2 jobs but after a year of prideful ownership, I had it ready to take to exhibits. Sadly unknowingly after a 6 year commitment in the USAF, I returned to find greed had sold my tractor. A Lesson in life with endless stories that could be shared by multitudes. 🧐 I can see Gunner spending many hours on this machine.
Really glad to see that you’ve gotten your son out in the shop working with you teaching him valuable skills as well as spending father & son time together which is something you don’t see very often these days anymore. I got my son to get out in the garage and shop to work with me pretty much all the time teaching him how to work on cars, weld,do electrical work, installing custom car audio systems and I also taught him how to do all kinds of work on the house when it was needed. It’s the same way I was taught and felt it taught him valuable lessons while he was young and now he can get out and work on his and his friends trucks himself very rarely needing my assistance. Your son is going to grow up to be a great young man because of the lessons you are teaching him at such a young age.
When I was around Gunner’s age and would say “I Can’t” I got told what I now consider some of the best advice/life lessons saying ever and that is “Can’t Never Could Do Anything” so Think about it and do it. To reinforce those life lessons my father made me a leather wrist band that I wore for years that has CNCDA on one side and the word “THINK” on the other side. Always good to see a father and his kids working on a project because that is how kids learn to not only do stuff but have the confidence to attempt to do new and more difficult things on their own
Glad to see you got a grin from the Pepsi fire extinguisher.🙂 Lol I did notice the washers didn't go in for the injector if that's the misfiring cylinder. Hope you guys have a blast in Vegas.👍
I worked back in the early 60's for a construction co. all his caterpillars had those pony motors, this video gave me flash backs, pony motors, naturally asparaited, no muffler, BUT,BUT,BUT,no red fan belts LOL
Time for another morning Mike and Matt Comedy equipment maintenance comedy episode. Gotta love the hilarity of a shop that's so fun to watch, listen and learn about antique D6 Dozer upkeep. Really nice to see Gunner working with abd being taught how to wrench on things along side of you. Thanks Mike.
Watching you teaching Gunner definitely brought back memories of the times I helped my Dad as a kid. He taught me so much. I lost him last Spring, but this was a great reminder of much simpler times. Oh, to be in the shop with Daddy. Thanks for this one.
Rule # 1, dont drop it in the oil pan should be, move the oil pan first!!!! Gunner is some great help. I love to see kids helping. I try to include my grandchildren in maintenance on our equipment. Uphill battle sometimes. What's the ring left on the valve cover?
You are so Lucky to have gotten that pre combustion chamber out that easy ,if you ever had a plastic oil line give up the ghost you would never consider using it again , copper line is the only way to go ,did you grease the coupling on the Hydraulic pump drive ,The injectors could use a cleaning or just a good workout. When you shut the pony engine down, shut the gas off first and let the engine run out of gas will save you lots of headaches .
Nice job. Especially good to see Gunner involved. Is there a fuel shut off for the pony motor? The older units would put fuel into the engine oil if the fuel wasn't run dry with the fuel line shut off.
Awesome to see Gunner working along side you. Hopefully more of that to come. Good luck with the old girl. New is nice but to run the old ones is even better. Even if just for fun.
Might want to put in Lucas oil stabilizer in the D-69 to break down the sludge and matt from diesel creek been having good success with a 15-40 oil with additives for older engines
I put a copper line like that on mine and the vibration of the machine wind up rubbing a hole in it. So I bought new copper line and put it inside of vacuum line. That way it's got a coating work. Great. Looking good on that machine.
These link belts are amazing every fishing boat I have worked on always had 6 to 12 foot of it in the spares box but the sections fitted never seemed to break, and only had to take a link out to tighten every few years
Well, I wish I'd have known about that belt material, before I spent all day changing a fan belt because I had to disconnect the rusty old connector on the pump shaft of my old Case. Good to see the Dad/kid work, nice job!
I think the limb lifters look neat on an old dozer. Sure do make for good headache makers when working on them though. When you say in town, where is in town for you? Derby doesn't look much like "town" that you're talking about.
Hi D P, hope you all are well and prospering. I did notice when you put the injector back in there were two seals left on top of the rocker housing. Maybe that could be the misfire. Thanks for another great video.
Mike, when pouring oil, keep the spout high and pour off the top of the container. It allows the container to breathe and pours much smoother. No chugging and less or no spilling.
Got a lot done and looking good. And Mike, there you go letting MBTS came In batting clean up and getting all the credit, for Gunner’s and Matt’s hard work😮👍🇺🇸
I still remember the hardware store as a kid. Backwall covered in belts and you'd just hand them the old one, they had the measurer thingy and go grab it like they knew which one it was just from you walking in.
I noticed the little " seal E things" as you called them were on top of the valve cover and fell on the head when you cranked it. Not sure if you replaced those or not in the video.
The D6 4R/5R was replaced by the D6 8U & 9U series, fitted with the 6-cylinder D318 engine of 66 hp (49 kW) in 1947. Built in Peoria, IL. CAT...the king of Dirt!!
We refer to machines with as girls or ladies because every mechanic/operator loves a machine and woman with a sprit and attitude. My personal favorite that I drive I refer to as “Ms. Sassy”😍! She has a attitude and loves to run. Love them and take care of them guys and they will take care of you. Hi from Texas
He's learning from his dad ❤
Glad to see young man learing
Of all the things I love you teaching and spending time with gunner. He will never forget these times. My dad when I was 7 and never had a father figure in my life. Well done Mike. God Bless.
Mike, you forgot the 2 o-rings / washers on the injector. They where still on the valve cover at index 54:47; and when you tightened the injector.
that could be what the injector problem is
Love the old iron. No electronics, no fancy controls, that girl will be running long after all the new modern equipment has been melted down and been made into something else. Thanks for sharing.

Always cool to see that old school equipment running.
The rain flapper, Mike !
Lovely to see the old Puddy Cat purring :)
Shop videos are always one of the best👍🏻 Especially if MBTS is involved lol
Thank you and have a good week.
I seen a washer left on the valve cover for the injector that you fixed the oring it was a seat washer for the fuel line to injector
Pretty cool that it appears that the exhaust for the pony motor runs through the intake of the diesel to preheat the incoming air for cold starts. 👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻
Glad to see the Safety Crocs are back on.

Great job helping your Dad Gunner

Take your time with that sweet lady as it deserved a lot of Air time my friend as you and Dad deserve big life back in the day
Put some transmission oil in the fuel to clean the injectors
Great to hear the ol girl run
Nice work on the D69U!Great video as allways😊😊
Great video Mr Dirt Perfect Matt and Gunner
Great job! Teamwork! 👌👍!
Not gonna lie, while little man was putting in the drain plug I was waiting for him to yell "Dad, stand there and hold the light still!"
man behind the scenes always makes me smile 🙃
Great to Gunner helping the old man. Creating memories.
Don't forget to put on the rain floppers for exhaust keep the good videos coming 👍
I bet he did that just for the comments. lol
@@salmonhunter7414 "plan worked, thanks" was his comment to me so right you are.
Good job Gunner. 👍.
It's nice to see the old iron running again. Good progress despite the small step backwards Mike. Always nice to see Gunner getting involved.
Yaa, projects. I always learn something.
Great to see you and Gunner making memories while teaching him about responsibilities and hands on mechanical experience!
I worked back in the early 60's for a construction co. all his caterpillars had those pony motors, this video gave me flash backs, pony motors, naturally asparaited, no muffler, BUT,BUT,BUT,no red fan belts LOL
Special tool #1 "IN STOCK!" Special tool #2 courtesy DP-Fab. Nice video guys! (and old girl)
Great to see the old girl out and about. Please put the cab guards back on. She look nekkid with out them ! Stay safe out there. Cheers
Morning everyone
Brings back memories of helping my father assembling new leather link drive belts for the generators on some of the isolated places we lived.
Sure reminds me of when my boys were you teaching them about auto maintenance. Good memories in the making my friend. Thanks DP for sharing.
That was a fun video, my hands were itching to get dirty.
Great to see the next generation in the shop doing the job! Great video!!

Glad to see the old D69U up and moving
Nice bit of TLC on the old girl guys, having that part all those years payed off bro. Safe travels
Good to see you back working in shop, a change in your videos
Time for another morning Mike and Matt Comedy equipment maintenance comedy episode.
Gotta love the hilarity of a shop that's so fun to watch, listen and learn about antique D6 Dozer upkeep.

Thanks Mike.
Great job teaching your son. Great.
Good morning Mike, great to see Gunner helping you. Great memories being made. Best wishes to you and family.
Gunner is sporting a healthy beard
Glad you all liked the ornaments!
Loved them
Can’t wait to see more videos on the old school kitty❤
Jerry's new toy !
Really great video thanks Mike and Matt and Gunner and Aron
Watching you teaching Gunner definitely brought back memories of the times I helped my Dad as a kid. He taught me so much. I lost him last Spring, but this was a great reminder of much simpler times. Oh, to be in the shop with Daddy. Thanks for this one.
Nice work by you all and fun to watch. How come though you didn't put the sealing ring/dust seal back on the injector?
Brilliant as usual Mike thanks also to Matt, Gunner, and Aaron, loved the video keep them coming, Thanks again Mike. SHE IS ALIVE.
Awesome to see it running, true craftsmen build these beasts
Lt. DAN???? From Forest Gump? 😉😂 Pepsi fire extinguisher!! For emergency drinking only. 🤣🤣 I love your shop videos. Thank you DP. 👍
Rule # 1, dont drop it in the oil pan should be, move the oil pan first!!!! Gunner is some great help. I love to see kids helping. I try to include my grandchildren in maintenance on our equipment. Uphill battle sometimes. What's the ring left on the valve cover?
That dozer is awesome DP it's one thing owning new things but having a piece of equipment that you started in and built your house with is awesome
Congratulations

Take it to a job site and surprise Jerry and see his reaction when you tell him this is the dozer for the kid😁
Oh, and the two compression washers for the injector.
Might want to put in Lucas oil stabilizer in the D-69 to break down the sludge and matt from diesel creek been having good success with a 15-40 oil with additives for older engines

It’s awesome seeing the ole girl getting some love ❤️ but that’s not getting Bubba Dumps fuel leak fixed… Lol great video DP 👍🏻👍🏻
These link belts are amazing every fishing boat I have worked on always had 6 to 12 foot of it in the spares box but the sections fitted never seemed to break, and only had to take a link out to tighten every few years
Looking good. I would take some aluminum foil and press it in around the capillary tube and oil line on back of gauge housing to keep mice out.
Get it done
Well, I wish I'd have known about that belt material, before I spent all day changing a fan belt because I had to disconnect the rusty old connector on the pump shaft of my old Case. Good to see the Dad/kid work, nice job!
Nice to see daddy and son working together getting hands-on experience all he can get thanks for Gary
Proof that any flat surface in a shop is a catch all. Even the roof of the dozer.
It's awesome that you got get Gunner in on the project. As a father I always enjoyed show my kids how things work, and just spending time with them
I think the limb lifters look neat on an old dozer. Sure do make for good headache makers when working on them though. When you say in town, where is in town for you? Derby doesn't look much like "town" that you're talking about.
Injector dust cover and washer sitting on top of the head as you’re firing up the pony motor. Hopefully you put new ones on?
It looked like it was still laying there when they went to put the hood back on... maybe a cause for the miss in the engine DP had later?
Hi D P, hope you all are well and prospering. I did notice when you put the injector back in there were two seals left on top of the rocker housing. Maybe that could be the misfire. Thanks for another great video.
Made same comment this evening!
Good to see the D6 running. Good to see Gunner in the shop too.
I love those belts like that I used to use them on old tractors
Nice to see the old girl move again.
Little tip from Squatch 258. Turn fuel to pony off to kill it. If fuel leaks into crankcase it’ll destroy the pony
Check the injector you installed. The 2 seals were left on top of the valve cover.
Good morning! I have to say what a great way to start off my day.
Great job DP junior, you are a big help to dad. 😊
Mike, when pouring oil, keep the spout high and pour off the top of the container. It allows the container to breathe and pours much smoother. No chugging and less or no spilling.
Man that sounds good but crests other problems
Always makes me smile to see old iron resurrected , Mike! Nice job on the D69U!
Got a lot done and looking good. And Mike, there you go letting MBTS came In batting clean up and getting all the credit, for Gunner’s and Matt’s hard work😮👍🇺🇸

Pouring the antifreeze, are you sure that Aaron was not a moon shiner before 🤣😅🤣😅
Great video guys, glad to see Gunner helping out on that ol girl!
Hey, been looking forward to the shop project videos rolling thru. Thanks for sharing your time 👍
Thanks for watching
50:09 was the moment you forget the seal rings 🤣
Good idea replacing the plastic oil line with copper, the plastic won’t hold up. Another Awesome Video
