Miami Vice, Literally a series that was ahead of it's time. What an era. The nostalgia is real man. Been re-watching the entire series these past months, and what a time. Don't think any show can come close too it these days. Sad that the era, is long past. Iconic storyline, themes, instrumentals, characters and so much more. Truly, legendary. Amazing to see how much of an impact it had, and all these characters. Honestly my favorite, Phil Collins, a man that truly deserved to be here, and my icon for his work, and talent.
@@freedomring3022 actually, I got the cast list. The blonde is Kyra Sedgewick. I would have mentioned them both if I were the maker but the credit is right, she is the unknown. Collins is a superstar with much more than rock music to his credit even back then! I think he knew that everybody knows him! Kyra, however, is almost unrecognizable!
@@mikeatIUSB Thank you Michael, I just looked him up on Wikipedia and saw when he came into the group, which was after their first two big hits 'Some Like it Hot' and 'Get It On' and was therefore unaware Robert Palmer had been replaced
Phil Collins was a really good match for his episode. He nailed the sleazy British con persona to a t. Rarely have I wanted a MV villain to actually get away.
I like how Frank Zappa not only delivers a long speech, but also manages to slip in something about ''the business of WEASEL dust''. That's code language for we FZ fans 😎😎😎
Miami Vice was a great platform for once relatively unknown actors and actresses, up and coming actors and actresses and well known musicians and actors. What an amazing series! #MiamiViceforever #80sforever 🌴🌴🌴🌴🌊🌊🌊🌊
Of the Rock and Pop stars that appeared on MV, I quite liked Glenn Frey in Season 1 "Smugglers Blues." Phil Collins "Phil the Shill." In Season 2 aswell as Frank Zappa also Season 2 "Payback." and Willie Nelson in Season 3.
It's amazing this show has only 5 seasons. Only police series like Law and Order, NYPD Blue lasted over a decade. These musicians obviously knew this was awesome.
SHEENA EASTON should have been in a one-shot episode. I never brought the soap opera storyline of an undercover VICE cop married to a semi-famous popstar. A D.A. yes.
02:44 - I'm sorry? Maybe all this time I've been a fan of the wrong Genesis? Was it Kyra Sedgwick that took over when Peter Gabriel left? I'm confused now... 🤔😏🤣🤣😎🇬🇧
I never missed this show, and except for Kyra Sedgwick playing Phil Collins and Glen Frey, I don't remember any of these musicians being on it. Frank Zappa? Uncle Ted? I need to start on one of those memory boosters, I guess.
There were a few surprises in there for me. And I’ve seen that series from beginning to end several times. Like Barbra Streisand and Miles Davis. I love that show. It was very much a product of its time. But still quite enjoyable to watch even so many years later. Thank you for posting the video. I have to say I enjoy that video immensely
See actors before they were famous video. He was not a 'Rock' star. When I posted earlier I should have made the comment that this should really by Music Stars as Miles Davis was a Jazz musician and Willie Nelson is a Country musician neither technically a rock star
Awesome flashback...Issac Hayes...Phil Collins..Miles Davis..Glen Fry...Sheena Easton...Frank Zappa...etc...thanks. Doubt todays music stars could pull this off in say a CSI show as guest stars..
And the 80s loved him….he basically couldnt put a foot wrong the whole decade. Just a pity as his 80s overexposure then led to a ton of hate/backlash he didnt deserve imo.
Superb most of these Rock Stars can certainly Act.Don the main star of Miami Vice could be class a Rock Star with his brilliant song of Heartbeat.Jan does the Theme Song so no surprises hes in there like Directors do.We had 2channels to perfection and Miami Vice was on didn't watch it i was having to much fun and time as a kid miss it so much.Class of 85-89 thats me
Several sub-plots carry over between multiple episodes, such as Crockett's divorce from his wife Caroline, his relationship with Gina, Switek and Zito's stolen goods sting operation, and OCB's investigation into Al Lombard. While every season of Miami Vice would feature episodes that continue the story of an earlier one, the first season is unique in that these ongoing plot lines are frequently mere side stories, and are often mentioned in passing in otherwise unrelated episodes.
The last one is wrong. It's not actor/comedian/writer Harry Shearer, but Derek Smalls, legendary bassist of English metal band Spinal Tap. For continuity.
How did Kyra Sedgewick NOT win an Emmy for her portrayal of Phil Collins?
ja !
👍👍👍👍😂😂😂😂👏🏅🏆
These things are all political, man.
Lmao!
Can u imagine?
Everybody who was somebody in the mid 1980s wanted to be in "Miami Vice". It was one of the coolest shows in TV history.
Chris Rock had a small role on the show.
It still is.

For real
Lemmy from Motorhead would've been perfect as an Arms Dealer.
lol Don Johnson launching Isaac Hayes head first into the pinball machine is legendary...
How dare he do that to "the Duke".
Sonny taking out Shaft like that was hard to watch...
Shaft turned bad. He got what he deserved.
Kyra Sedgewick did a great job as Phil Collins
No she did a great job as Sarah MacPhail. The credit is correct.

(2:41) Kyra what ? that man is very famous and does not deserve such disrespect.
The one rock star Miami Vice never got who epitomizes the 80s and would have made a great villain on the show: Robert Palmer.
He would have been perfect as some crooked banker or financier.
Robert Palmer was the singer n The Power Station, I don't know who the singer in the clip was though, unless it was actually Andy Taylor
@@andyaccount it was Michael Des Barre

The most amazing appearance by far is Miles Davis. That's rare man.
thats so cool ,Joe
Yes, so cool to see him in that appearance and he seemed to have good acting chops too.
I would argue that the most amazing appearance is by Barbra. She doesn't do cameo's, let alone for a tv show.
@@anthonyb1752 Argue that if you want. Barbra has 46 dramatic screen acting credits to her name. Miles has 4.
He is/was a rare man
The best 80s aesthetic show ever
Probably because it was actually filmed in the 80's………….
@@Bale4Bond yup. That’s why it’s the best
Gene Simmons was always a good villain. He had the look and attitude down pat

The episode w/ the nuge was always one of my favorites.
There is no more iconic voice in rock and roll then the voice of C. Montgomery Burns.
I came to make a similar comment.😂🤣😂🤣

They also had a ton of Broadway people.
I lived there then
Kind of like Love Boat and Fantasy Island etc etc and many other shows of all genres all over Our World 🌎🌍
John Diehl from MV is married to Julie Christensen, one of Leonard Cohen’s back up singers. They’re friends of mine here in Nashville.
Leonard Cohen speaking french dressed in black ! omg ..i love him
The one and only, Frank Zappa!
The best show ever!
Don't you eat that snow. Or sniff it, for that matter.

I still believe Tim Cappello is a rockstar too!
Leonard Cohen kills it! So convincing!! 😎😢👍
His French is excellent
2:44 I think you meant to put Phil Collins???
Yes, not Kyra Sedgewick .🤪
umm considering phil wrote some music for the series im a little confused why they would mess his up lol
It's amazing this show has only 5 seasons. Only police series like Law and Order, NYPD Blue lasted over a decade. These musicians obviously knew this was awesome.
I always liked that Don Johnson never tried to affect some tough guy voice
The ONLY time he took on a tough-guy growl was when he talked about bass fishin' ... Texas-rigged
He smoked enough cigs to not have to change his voice. Tobacco took care of that already.
SHEENA EASTON should have been in a one-shot episode. I never brought the soap opera storyline of an undercover VICE cop married to a semi-famous popstar. A D.A. yes.
Maybe, but she was sooooooo hot.
Glenn Frey did have some acting talent...limited scope, but he played this part well...
He and Glen Frey are creeps
This is actually literally the most iconic thing ever.
Ted Nugent in "Definitely Miami" was such an iconic episode.
Classic Neon noir episode.
Definitely 🤣
One of my favorite
Ted and Arielle Dombasle in the same episode. One of Ted's songs was also on the soundtrack for the episode.
Ted stole the episode! However Glen Frey was the best in Smugglers Blues, the best episode on Miami Vice.
Frank Zappa should have been a Bond villian. Zappa and Simmons were perfect baddies.
You bet , would have been epic!
Simmons another creep
Boy George went against the trend for pop stars to appear on Miami Vice during the 1980's. He was on the A Team.
Little known fact: Kyra Sewdick played drums for a prog band.
While Phil Collins is married to Kevin Bacon 😂
I know her mainly as a record producer who used a lot of horns and gated reverb.
She used to be the drummer in a really good band, and when the singer left, she took over.
🤣

I cant beleive he did that to Issac Hayes.

But as stiff as a rock, apparently

Kyra Sedgewick must be that drummer from Genesis

Miles Davis y el Teniente Castillo, dos hombres de pocas palabras.
The absolute best was the episode with Phil Collins, no contest.
My music hero Miles Davis! He had a style all his own.
Leonard Cohen! Tonight we take Manhattan, then Berlin...but first I'm off to Miami.
