when i worked for the DOC, i had a captain just like him. very intimidating. he wanted the job done and you gave it to him. and he knew that you could handle it. i respected it and admired it.
Always foxed me why a boss of a department never had anything in his office.. Just looked like he tossed it off all the time to me! just wasn't realistic really to have an empty office.
The way he played Castillo was absolutely brilliant IMO.
Underrated Actor..... He is a Iconic Actor
He turned Castillo into such an unusual character, particularly with the shouty, angry cop bosses so common at the time.
As the Lieutenant, Olmos' character was the epicenter of Authoritative Cool.....home-run.
Castillo was the coolest character in all the whole series!
Olmos was The coolest dude on the Show...didnt B.S did his job ..Good smart Cop

I heard about a man in viet nam for 3 tours Castillo was very much like him in some unexplainable way
only thing that comes close to Castillo , was Horatio Cane from CSI Miami
