Good video! I was thinking of waiting to try the new LDV in AU ... and went with the GWM Cannon X ... the extra power would be good. But I'm really happy with the software update on the GWM and the features for the price

We just got a Cannon X for my business partner. I'm jealous but they only just started selling them in NZ so I did'n't have the option.

The GWM seems more SUV like , where as the LDV Appears more truck like , so depending on your needs & desires, the GWM is more plush & comfortable & more car like .

.....I'm kind of warming to the GWM, but I'm leaning toward the Musso or Triton as my top two. Looking for something for my grand fishing tour LSL in a couple of years.

I drive triton at work and tested a Cannon, both similar power but Cannon overall for space at rear as daughter complained about space in the triton cannon has easier access as my head hits top of door way in triton most times when getting in, so used to navara

T60 is a good wagon, I came close but just preferred the tech package in my Cannon.

I picked the LDV t60 max over the Great Wall a few reason’s however one of them was I didn’t like the grill on the Great Wall it seemed to me chubby looking lol or tubby I just yeah loathed that phat look about it
    But each to their own

I bought a white Canon X. How can you tell if the Ute has had the software update or not? Version Number is..?

    • @greatideasworthsharing

Great question. All I know is that they told me on my 5,000 km service that they did a software update.

All post July 2021 models have the update. If pre-July model, ask for the update during your next service. Its free. I drove a friends after the update and found the throttle control improvement to be like night and day. I don’t know how they do it, but impressive. Re: Turbo lag, as not my car, don’t drive everyday and didn’t notice the huge improvement vs the throttle control, but still, its a little quicker of the lights. Regardless, shows they are listening to their customers and made changes. Well done.

Having driven a late model Ranger on a couple of long trips lately, im more than happy the LDV deletes lane change BS. The tugging on the steering makes driving it very uncomfy. As far as looks go, the GW would be ok if the clown nose was deleted off the front and the LDV to me looks more modern by far so that ones easy points for LDV. The most powerful over the least powerful... LDV again. I found the quality form and function of the LDV interior far nicer than previous Ranger so not sure what the narrators issues are there. BTW the adaptive cruise is a dbl edge sword, for country hwy, simply no need for it really. It can be ok in city bumper traffic but try paying attention. Personally i simply couldnt buy the least powerful ute on the market but im sure they will fix that by the next model.

Aside from the features & gadgets you might get that may persuade a buyer 😮 the slow motion crash test comparison clearly shows the Greatwall is much more advanced on an engineering level. The T60 is not in the same league. It distorts & crumples alot more 😮 yeah I was surprised

I didn't, not yet. I keep thinking about it and then forget as 90% of the time I don't really need it.

I used to have a 2 ltr VW Amarok a number of years back. I loved that ute as it drove like a car. I went into an SUV for a few years before coming out and buying the GWM. The VW build quality is impressive and the V6 performance is class leading until the new generation Amarok/Ranger combo came out.

Fair enough. I use my cruise control everyday and in traffic its a sanity saver.

well I mean its pretty obvious... a perfect world would be the T60 twin turbo engine in the Cannon body would be perfect. But I think the perfect ute is coming... the Cannon is allegedly getting a twin turbo 3.0 v6 diesel... also the T60 is so goddamn ugly, just like the Triton, Sangyong...

      Whats wrong with Transformers?

    • @greatideasworthsharing
      @greatideasworthsharing  2 года назад +1

Yeah, I'm not a fan of the T60 looks either but the engine is good. The gearbox in the Cannon is very good and makes up for obvious deficiencies in the 2.0 litre engine in the truck. Also the tech package/extras in the Cannon are better. A V6 3.0 litre would make the Cannon a real force to reckon with (along with some suspension work).
