Thanks Patrick. Great review and straight to the point. I will hopefully be buying the Cannon X later this year and this certainly helps. Other reviewers have mentioned some quirks when using the functions on the screen. A complete review would be helpful. Also a review on the different drive modes including 4WD. Many reviewers mention them in passing but don't actually get down to the nitty gritty. Thanks.

I think this model will be changing the perception of Chinese utes, in Australia have started seeing alot of them, and after test driving one I just weighed up everything you get, with the 7 years warranty, the price and how much cash flow I'll have rather then 70k in a Ute and it just made sense, I don't think it'll depreciate like previous models, but even if it does at the price and warranty I'm getting I don't care

Totally agree with you... 7 years and 5 years roadside assist showcases GWM's faith in their Ute product. It was a no-brainer of a decision to purchase when comparing to LDV T60, Ranger, BT-50, Hi-lux, and others. The Ute packs more 'BANG' for buck that any of them.

I own a Cannon X with 30000kms. I have always been a supporter of the brand until now.
I went to the dealer Autostrada in Western Australia, for a service and had them look at a minor warranty issue for a delaminating park brake button, along with recalling for the headrests to be replaced. This work was booked in over a month prior to the service date.
It’s been over a year and when going to book my 30000kms service I enquired again as the the park brake and it turn out that even though the dealer told me it was warranty and would be replaced they had not even ordered the part and not submitted a warranty claim to GWM/HAVAL. Not only this they did not replace the recall item on the headrests. When I approached GWM/HAVAL HQ I was told it’s my problem and they have nothing to do with it. So basically, your on your own.
Ok so you might think this is a dealer/service department issue but can you imagine if this was a larger warranty issue and this was the support you expect to receive. I was going to look at a new vehicle next year and I can be sure GWM/HAVAL are off the list. Warranty support is critical to me and this seals the deal. Thanks for no support GWM/HAVAL, if warranty is important to you seriously consider other brands, as GWM/HAVAL do not provide customer support.

      X gets the following:
      Quilted seats with real leather
Tilt/reach steering instead of tilt only
Digital screen instead of analogue gauges
      Wireless phone charging
      Power adjustable passenger seat
      Rear armrest
      Multiple steering modes
2x smart keys instead of 1x smart and 1x normal
      Voice recognition
      Footwell light
At least, here in Australia. I pick up my X next month, and the day I get it, it gets some serious revisions. 2" lift, new control arms, sway bar kit for the rear, diff breather, snorkel, and bull bar, to name a few. All told, I will be spending just shy of 55k AUD to set something up to compete with Wildtracks and the like. Definite value for the money spent.
