So when toys r us closed. The cashier saw that i was gonna buy a bunch of toys and gave me 75%off. I bought about $350 with of toys and paid around $37 because the stuff was already lightly discounted. Her response was "what are they gonna do? Fire me!". She was doing it with everyone.

Morphe was a novelty and they had support from one fo the biggest beauty RUclipsrs when they launched at the time. Because she expanded into her own brand, that fan base migrated with her. So did others who launched their own brands. It's a crap storm of multiple things.

Weeks later, we got the closing notice but I had already had my staff prepared. We had everyone with a new job or at least with an interview. We worked hard to make sure they had the best paychecks possible while still getting our required 40 hrs. As they slowly left to start new jobs we picked up the slack so by closing it was only a myself, the store manager and one other part time associate closing the store.

Don’t even I left my last company due to mental health and just general harassment from my manager, and in the contract I was to give a months notice. I was meant to return after sick leave and hell did I not, I wrote a letter basically saying I’m leaving immediately due to mental health and you can’t make me give you notice. I didn’t owe them anything, especially didn’t owe anything to the manager.

Say what yall want about Morphes product quality, but I've always thought they were great for the price. Sephora and Mac brushes will run at least $30+ for almost near quality brushes. I have had Mac brushes that went loose on me while I still have brushes from Morphe from back in 2015 from HauteLook (kudos if you know what that is lol) that work great!
Morphe def served its purpose in my life for when I was working hard to become a makeup artist. Im now a pro makeup artist and still purchase Morphe shadows from time to time. Makeup expires and even if I have the cash to dish out $500+ on eyeshadows every year, it is not practical. They are great for the price, and even if its made in China for less, there is not a lot of brands out there that are affordable with decent quality. Wet & Wild and Elf eyeshadows are NOT it and if youre an MUA, you know this 😅 I wish they would give answers to the workers , they dont deserve to be treated like this.

You can only close so many stores/locations or lay off a certain amount of people under your business with less than 2 month's notice and no severance. Best Buy and Game Stop both are in the middle of multi million dollar lawsuits for doing something similar, I'm sure there will be lawyers reaching out to these people sooner rather than later about a class action lawsuit against Morphe.

this was a LONG time coming. they had their biggest sales from jeffree star and shane dawson but then morphe dropped them not even a whole year after that. it was after that, influencers decided not to trust morphe if they’re gonna drop them like that. not only that, but it was around the time skin care was becoming very popular and people weren’t wearing makeup out that much cause everyone was stuck inside. morphe had also made a huge mistake by keeping james as a partner even after if it was revealed he’s a groomer. they waited wayyy too long to say anything or even do anything about it. that turned a lot of people away from morphe even more. morphe was already failing cause their prices were astronomical and people were struggling to even pay for their rent at the time. morphe honestly deserves it. this goes to show the age of influencer products/merch is really coming to an end. i’m interested to see who or what goes next. 2023, let’s see

The Vanity situation came to light in June the year after the JSCxSD collab. I'd rather not describe it in details bc it was very gross and I don't remember all the details of it. You can look it up if you want. Lots of people were pushing for retailers to drop JSC after that and Morphe was weirdly reluctant to do it, for weeks if not months. Afaik plenty of ppl stopped buying from Morphe as a result of that weird delay and then Morphe had some weird asf phrasing regarding droppping his stuff. Some thought JS was possibly an investor in the brand (I don't remember how things went down exactly, if I did I'd share it here) and didn't want to support them if that was the case.
Then on top of that you've got the changes in makeup trends you mentioned.
Underneath all of this was the change of ownership which (I've heard) changed the dynamics bts. Apparenly lots of influencers slowly stopped promoting Morphe bc the new owners didn't keup up with the relationship maintenance like the previous owners had. No one seems to know why all the influencers were dropped though.
