He jumped the gun by getting the ten thousand dollar loan, but the fact that she promised him that she would review it THREE separate times and didn’t is gross. I hope he gets so many new shoppers and goes well beyond the 10k!!!
I agree. Legally, she had no obligation to make a review BUT MORALLY…. 😅 I would NEVER have gotten this loan without some sort of contract for a review. I would have paid for a review (at % of sales since he can’t pay up front) if I was set enough to get a $10k loan. All in all a bad situation.
additionally, i understand what she's trying to say about why she doesn't really review small indie brands anymore, but the fact that bondi essentially plagiarized his brand for a marketing strat and mikayla supported them anyways is weird to me. like if the brand had been actively working towards it (which would've showed in their product), that probably wouldn't have been an issue since dupes are very common, but they basically used his idea without doing any of the work or even trying to resemble it. mikayla showing them off in her video was essentially supporting their theft, which is gross to me.
Not a fan of Mikayla at all, but PLEASE if you’re a small business owner don’t take out any debt or advance orders without a contract! Really rough situation all around.
Totally agree, you can't depend or put your eggs im one basket. I hope his bussiness goes well. And obvs she only does pay reviews it's her livelihood.
I agree, he was hasty and naive. But I can't fault him for taking her at her word after having multiple conversations, some being over 30 mins long. He trusted her because she continued to lie to him, and he got overly excited thinking he was going to have lots of orders based on the reviews she promised. Not to mention she manipulated him using her mental health as an excuse - of course he believed her. Hard lesson learned on his part, but shame on Mikayla for being shady, as usual!
@@OG.StrawberryGoat exactly 🤣 this makes me believe she didn’t get a spray tan hence her addressing it. Which would mean she defo wore lashes in that review of the mascara
Not reviewing indie brands because they always sell out and don’t have the capacity to fulfill so many orders and may become dishonest about what they have in stock sounds like such a strange convoluted reason to not support small brands… I think a better explanation for why she doesn’t review small indie brands as much anymore is probably because they can’t afford to pay her the big bucks. The fact that Matthew wanted a review from her without paying her is absolutely why his product’s review is such low priority on her things to do list.
I completely agree with you. What an ODD thing to say. she has sooo much influence and to only accept corporate reviews just says a lot about her. It’s all about money and obv a small business can’t probably pay her what she thinks she’s worth smh
yeah, but it's kind of disgusting that she pretended to be Mrs. kind and nice but deep down, she just didn't want to support authentic products and small brands without a fatty check😅
It feels like he’s obligating Mikayla to review it just because another brand took the advantage to Mikayla for product review. I’m not a fan of miss lash gate but if she didn’t knew about the competitor drama then it is literally not her duty to review it just to elevate his because he felt like another brand stepped upon him. Go deal with your problem directly to the competitor brand, not with miss lash gate!
"i never used a spray tan in my life" Okay, girl. In the same way you didn't used false eyelashes for that mascara review, or say that you hated a brand just to months later say you love it, or saying that you were looking for a lip combo for your wedding to get a deal with a brand and ended up using the make up artist's brand. I mean, she has never lied to us before, why do it now?
She has a habit of hooking "never ever in my life" to a lot of the bull crap that spews out of her mouth. I'm too old to let her actions bother me. But damn... she is a terrible human being.
Yeah, tough life lesson I guess. He should not have been surprised when she didn't follow through... That was his warning to forget it, and he decided to get a $10k loan anyway. She doesn't think she owes anyone respect or honesty, let alone a favor without being paid. So Matt's biggest mistake was believing a word she said, let alone making a major business decision based on it AFTER she already blew him off so many times.
@@donalpaccio4233I don't honestly think he was as big a fan as he made it sound like, he just reached out to the most influential person who could potentially get him the most exposure. He's guilty here too, he wanted free advertising to a huge audience. He's still getting a lot of exposure now anyway (thanks to Mikaela, ironically...) So, I'm sure he's recovered from his bad business decision. If she really WAS his idol, though, yikes.
Influencer culture is so weird to me. Why is everyone so beholden to one woman’s opinion? What was stopping the people who kept commenting on her videos begging her to review the product from researching and purchasing the product themselves since they were already clearly aware of its existence?
These days young impressionable kids become die hard fans of their fav creators and drive so much sales. Unfortunately Mikayla has a huge fandom of brain dead kids
She cares for nothing other than her bank account. She would probably sell Cody if someone paid her enough. Awful human being. How anyone is still a fan after all her lies is beyond me.
i think cody made out nice 😅 from being homeless to a trophy husband, GET THE BAG CODY. I think she settled out of insecurity, I remember her whining about being single/dating
This guy manages his business like a kid. 1- if you want a product review from an influencer, no matter how small your brand is, you send a contract with a deadline. 2-don't order thousands of dollars of stuff with no certainty. Mikayla didn't give a s**t about his image and his business, why did he care about her? Nos his problem if he sells out and she doesn't look the best. But most importantly: IF YOU COME UP WITH A NEW AMAZING PRODUCT IDEA, PATENT IT. He puts so much emphasis on having the original idea and the only custom tanner, dude should have patented his recipe and method. All's fair in business. It sucks but that's what patents are for.
heavy on your last point. my first thought about this guys story is “is the technology patented”? Mikayla is a snake but this guy is pretty naive at best and entitled af at worst
He’s a baby business. It’s a learning curve, I cut him a lot of slack. At least it was 10k and not more. I hope he sells the product and take hard earned wisdom.
@@strugglebeauty fyi I saw someone talks about his product after posting this and turns out his product is kinda just bogus. While the 10k loan was his decision, it was incredibly deceitful of Mikayla to tell him over and over again that she was doing the review when she wasn’t. When you promise something, that’s a promise.
@@JensenWinchester1Doesn’t matter if he did or didn’t.. he asked her if she would be willing to promote his brand and she agreed. At that point as an influencer, you should know to bring up fees that you may have for doing such a project and everything should be written in a contract signed by both parties. If she sat up there and told him she was going to do the review WITHOUT mentioning payment , etc That’s her fault tbh 🤷🏽♀️ She shouldn’t have lead him on and made it seem like she was going to do said video if she wasn’t comfortable doing it in the first place. It makes NO sense to take someone through the ringer like that.

All parties are in the wrong to me. As a businessman, he should have not invested that much based off the possibility of a review that he didn’t even have and she’s Mikayla lol, like come on, you knew who you were dealing with. I would’ve been suspicious the moment she agreed to review something for free.
This is an unfortunate situation, but nobody in their right mind should place their trust, 10k worth at that, in someone that is a proven and consistent liar. It’s kinda hard to feel bad for him when he was naive enough to think Makayla would actually be honest for once
Honestly, this is on him. As much as I dont like Mikayla, this isn't on her nor her responsibility. Her only role in this is the promised review. That's it. What rubbed me off from the beginning is his slight entitlement that Mikayla should review his product. He is taking a page out of Chef Pi's pink sauce "marketing".
Yup, a hundred percent. He is like the majority of indie brand owners, in my experience. You just can’t avoid a mess with them. They are also often very vindictive.
I read about this on Buzzfeed earlier and literally for the first time ever, I agree with Mickayla. Her response really said it all. He shouldnt have relied on her to save his brand, and if he wanted that, he should have paid for a real review. He's coming off so entitled to her time, which is money to her. Yes she shouldn't have led him on but... he put all his eggs into her basket and clearly it was a bad choice. And he was straight hounding her for a review. I would have blocked him.
It seems to me this was what his plans were from the beginning. Either she gave him the review he wanted from her and make money or he’d drag her online and make money. He knows that any time Mikayla gets into any kind of “drama” the dog pile is real and his video would get enough traction for the sales he was looking for. To your point that you would block him (which I would’ve too) if she would’ve he’d have just made a video “oh Mikayla said she’d post a review of my product and then blocked me when I asked her about it”. I commented on his video last night saying what I commented here and he ended up deleting my comment and blocking me 😂. He’s entitled af. I wonder if he ever stopped to think that maybe the reason she was rolling him off is that she didn’t like the product and picked up the type of person he was.

Best video on this topic 10/10! Not a Mikayla supporter by any means but it's business. Dude's put the pressure on and not offered her any type of contract. She isn't responsible. I'm sure she wishes she hadn't even replied to his incessant begging.
i am a consumer of Illusion Bronze. i bought it last year and continue to purchase because the owner is so knowledgeable and passionate (and the tan is the best i’ve ever had). to see them being ripped off is so, so sad to me. whatever mikayla is doing is SUCH a disgrace to this small business owner who has a GENUINELY amazing product. i’ve been a follower of mikayla drama for months now, but this crosses a line. the team at Illusion Bronze is genuinely so passionate about their product, and to see them being disrespected like this is something I cannot stand for.
I want to try it! I have been fake tanning for years. I have tried pretty much every tanner there is, I’ve come close by mixing, but I’ve never found the perfect one. I would love if this was it!
Agree sooo much as I use this product as well and as you said it is by far the BEST I have ever used! Hope he succeeds the 10k as he is far deserving of it!❤
I've never used self tanner (I'm pale and get a very pale natural tan) - how much is it, and is it like a one and done thing? Is it a good value? I don't even know what's genuinely involved, since there is so much bad info
I agree. He should've locked her down in writing before taking out the loan. Hopefully he learns from his mistake. She doesn't owe him anything, but it was pretty crappy to string him along
I don't know how anyone can watch Makayla. Her fake accent is worse than nails on a chalkboard. I'm pretty sure the guy that is upset about a big company "stealing" his idea once said HE got this idea from a small business. It was in a different country I believe. So, I don't know how I feel about him feeling "ripped off".
He’s a manipulative whiner. Mikayla didn’t have a contract with him, so she didn’t owe him anything really. I don’t watch Mikayla because her makeup is ugly, but this guy really gives me slimy vibes.
He admits to knowing the impact Mikayla has on the industry then he should also know how she is as a person. This is not new information but he’s acting surprised? You got played because you took a leap of faith on the LAST person you shouldn’t have even thought twice about. That’s on you, unfortunately. Does Mikayla still suck? Oh, absolutely. Not sure how she still has a following when her reputation is so trash. 🤷🏻♀️
The only part I don’t agree with is ordering $10,000 worth of product for a promotion that was never contracted or promised. He says “I loaned 10k because of what she said to me” she didn’t say it TO HIM she said there’s been times where people couldn’t fulfill orders before.
@@JoyFulRhythm that’s not what he was referring to. He was referring to the video where she said small brands couldn’t fulfill orders so her ordered a bunch of product.
Mikayla isn't great but everything that happened to Mat was 100% on him for being so trustworthy and taking out 10K loan based on a text message exchange with a stranger
All I’m going to say is: Let your yes mean yes and your no mean no. Be a person of your word. Had she done just that, none of this would have happened.
I’ll be honest, I no longer feel bad for people who trust or put their hopes and dreams on influencers. Stop looking up to these people. Stop idolising them. If anyone is still doing that in 2024, then they should take whatever comes
There are plenty of professional and commercial brand tans that use color theory and different undertones to achieve the right look :') former beauty therapist ~ 8+ years ago I was using purple based and green based tans on clients for weddings/proms/formals.... even celebrities and makeup artists and people in the movie industry know this ^-^" its not new. And shouldn't be controversial It only is when people start trying to stake their claim and pretend to have re-invented the wheel... or in this case... the tans with formulas that have blue/purple/yellow or olive undertones. Because oompa loompa don't work on everyone. Poor A1 paper crisp Caucasian beauty in school got a dorito orange tan the day before the prom and thus she was known. It's not new. It's a new cash grab by unimaginative people :') keep throwing stones from glass houses. So silly to watch everyone lose their minds over. Go look at a color chart and complimentary colors. Whatever color you're looking at their is an opposite. We use purple shampoos to get rid of yellow brassy tones in hair, green concealers to cancel out the red, queens use red or orange to cancel out the blueish stubble shadow. It's all color theory. Those Korean aesthetic color matching.... is color matching. They didn't re-invent the wheel guys. They're fighting over who makes money over it like always. Bringing attention to it, yes. But not in a good way. Use color theory in your daily life. Suddenly the world visually gets a lot cooler ^-^
I agree with Tea Spill on this. That $10k is not on Mikayla. Yes, it is horrible that she consistently held that review like a carrot on a stick in front of Matthew and she acted more upset about Michael's misunderstanding about the tan than her postponing the review for months, but they did not have a contract, she is not a financial advisor, and he would have been the only one to financially gain from this. But either way, I still believe that Mikayla and Chef P's business ethic is for the streets...
He went miles past the line when he told her about the 10k he took out. I would just kick myself for it and never use it to make someone else feel obligated to do me a favor. He learned the hard way what happens when you trust someone who lies to the whole internet 🤷♀️
Yes... business 101..I am wondering why he didn't go old school and promote it himself..word gets around catches the attention of the multimillion dollar company which will offer $ for his product.. SMH 🙄
Why do people give this girl so much grace? Like she LIES! I used to really like her but I’m not gonna waste my hard earned money so she can keep lying to my face & getting Sponsorships. Hope Matthew can pay off his loan, but most importantly build a strong client base.
As a "long time viewer" of Mikayla, you'd think that Matthew would have the foresight to know that she goes for $$$. But ig that's the "fan-tinted glasses" that put his trust in her. So while I feel sympathy for him and his current situation, him trying to guilt-trip her into doing the review is pretty scammy.
Yeah I think they’re both really scummy in this situation. On one end it’s deceitfulness and money hungry. On the other it’s entitlement and harassment
the FIRST thing to know about running your own business is that no one cares about it other than you; not your mom; not your spouse; not your kids; and if you think a random influencer is committing to push your product FOR FREE let alone the biggest player in the game; itd be like asking her for +50K whtever she charges
She TOLD HIM SHE WOULD DO IT FOR FREE. Why the fuck is him not paying her even relevant, like she’s owed money for something SHE promised to do? If she had a shred of integrity this would have never happened.
Wait?! A Shopify loan?! I am on my 2nd Shopify loan. You only pay back a percentage of yours sales until the loan is paid back. There’s no regular due date with a set amount. If you have a slow month you owe less. I feel bad as a small business but he had no contracts. He jumped the gun.
OK so he started the problem. Inserted Makayla into it, then exposed their private conversations and now he’s mad because she didn’t review his tanner. This is all his fault and he’s playing victim.
Wait, so he took out a massive loan for a video that he already got blown off about without even knowing if she was actually going to review it, or if she was actually going to give it a good review??
I know right? I mean it’s horrible that she lead him on about it but she’s right. He shouldn’t have done that business decision and she is right when she says that he shouldn’t hope for the success of his business to be reliant on her
That’s the thing that I’m not understanding there was no agreement there was no contract and yet he’s making these videos of her back like even if she said she’s gonna do it he didn’t lose any money for even asking so I was confused I smell a stunt
I have a theory: perhaps she tried his tanner and hated it but didnt want to say that she hated it on camera...because that would make her look bad for saying that about a small business.
That's fair but it's not fair for her to lie about it to him and repeatedly pretend to post a review. Maybe she didn't like it but she could have just said that to him in private
NGL mathew's behavior on tiktok has just always screamed as manipulative and overly personal to me. hes a business owner and this is a marketing strategy. when people can put a face and name to a brand and project personal feelings onto a business, it makes them feel like they arent just buying something for themselves but to support a friend. thats exactly what he's doing! its not the customer's moral obligation to make sure you have a successful business! and it sure as hell isnt a freelance marketing person's job either (and that's what influencers are lets be completely fr rn) idk, maybe im just overly cynical but alarm bells go off in my head when someone is trying to sell you something and then starts using the kind of language that he does.
You’re correct. He’s extremely manipulative. Apparently his whining is getting him sympathy and sales, because he doesn’t stop. He’s literally using Mikayla’s fame to get attention, he won’t stop badgering her and posting videos about her. I would never buy his products.
Yeah, he did put a lot of pressure. "You know I got my mental health issues... You know I took a loan." None of this is the customer's problem. That oversharing was manipulative.
This time, I don't don't fault her. I don't think this is her fault, he shouldn't have tried to make her feel bad nor should he have tried to use her for free publicity.
Yeah, I agree. I feel bad for him, but this was an insanely bad financial/ business decision and he does need to admit that was a bad choice on his part
People who own small businesses need to understand that people are not obligated to support you. I hope all this free publicity helps him. But this influencers won't do nothing for free
LOVING the content every single time but i hope you’re doing okay absorbing & reporting all of this !!! we appreciate you and see everything you’re doing for us !!! 🥹❤️ hope you can catch a break soon
One of the biggest problems is the texting exchanges which can build rapport leading to entitlement and false hope through the guise of ‘friendship’ and ‘respect.’
Bro! Mikayla don’t owe you squat! You made a poor decision, plus there was no contract ! So now he creates drama and trust the drama will sell his stock out. HE USED HER REGARDLESS! Boy Bye!
Mikayla knows that no matter how unethical that she behaves, she will still have followers and still be laughing all the way to the bank. It doesn’t matter to her. She is making money and has the mentality of "nothing personal, it's just business!".
I love good tea in the morning ☺️ 🍵 Unfortunately Mikayla doesn't care about small business and he should've believed everything everyone had been saying about her since. Sometimes if somethings too good to be true and you don't have a contract in place it'll end up like this.❤
I’m assuming that she actually doesn’t review indie brands because they can’t pay her what big brands would to advertise. 🙄 Of course he shouldn’t have taken out that big of a loan it’s not her fault, but it’s insanely shitty for her to tell him numerous times that she’d post. Idk why anyone would trust her in the first place!
Im pretty sure bondi sands was first to come out with the different undertones. I remember like 10 years ago i got a free sample of the olive fake tanner in a goodie bag. Although it was under a different packaging.
Yeah what she did was scummy, but he's also kind of dumb for taking out a 10 grand loan going off the word of someone who has proven time and time again they cannot be trusted?
Juicy!! Don’t know anything about these two outside of this video but I agree with you. But the power difference here needs to be taken into consideration. “I just didn’t get to it” is probably true, but for him that’s earth shattering. “I only tan a few times a year” this review is a major deal for him so maybe make the time!!
i do not like mikayla at all and she is in the wrong for leading him on but it’s not mikayla’s fault he’s out $10k and it’s delusional that anyone says otherwise. she had no contract to put out a video, meaning she had no obligation to post a review. HE reached out to mikayla knowing her reputation. HE continued to reach out and ask when it was clear, at least to me, she wasn’t going to post. HE took out the loan without the review or anything legally binding her to post. mikayla’s one of the biggest names in the game, reputation good or bad. she probably has tons of videos in advance and i personally feel like you’ve gotta be a dumbass or desperate to ask for a FREE review from one of the biggest names on the game who charges HUNDREDS OF TOUSANDS of dollars for reviews and partnerships. she didn’t force him to take a loan. most good business owners don’t take out loans for product unless they know for sure they need it and unless you’ve got a shit ton of money to fall back on, it’s known that’s not something you can recover from easily. this is his own fault.
This voiced exactly how I feel on the situation. Also I’m sure he’s a lovely guy but the fact that he was so reactionary, e.g posted a video suspicious of her bondi sands video mere 4 days after a video of his got a small 5000 views and then to post another accusing her of not using the product. It’s not going to have her view him favourably
Yes girl! I cannot stand Mikayla, BUT she didn't make him take out that loan, that is his fault. She was clearly leading him on, he should have known. That said, she is an awful human, and I'm just waiting on her to go away.
I run a food TikTok with 160k followers and even then I cannot see all the tags, mentions, etc because it’s a lot. Mikayla has millions and millions so you cannot make a video saying “after I mentioned her, she went and did this.” Like why would the small brand immediately think a huge influencer even saw his video with 5k views? Or saying the big brand “saw” his video to Mikayla so they must have gone after her after? Mikayla is one of the biggest beauty creators. The brand was probably already going after her. She’s busy af and is doing a free favor for a stranger. She may have forgotten. Instead of putting all your hopes into an influencer you’re a fan of and didn’t make a contract for, and taking out loans because of a TEXT (which is wild), work on promoting your business with great content like everyone else and you’ll sell product. $10k in product isn’t CRAZY. If a brand owner was messy and ripping me and my texts apart on TikTok it would actually change my mind and not do him a free favor? TF??????
I understand his frustration… but what exactly he is expecting since he is working in the same niche as the big brand? I don’t think the big brand is specifically going after the creators that he has reached out to.. because the brand is just going after popular creators in general. I understand how it might seem that they are doing this on purpose, because when you are passionate about something everything seems extra level of personal. And what Mikayla was doing is obviously not cool.. but idk what we expect from her. She has showed her character multiple times.
This is typical behavior from Mikayla, but this man has my sympathy. Also, Minetan has offered self tanner shades based on skin undertones for several years, so Im not sure what Bondi is going on about claiming to be innovative.
Never did I ever think I’d be siding with Mikayla but here I am. It’s a shame and I know he was excited to use it but at the end of the day no contract or agreement was in place and she owes him nothing. He openly said he knew about lashgate and her history and still pursued this, I struggle to have sympathy 😂
that's how I feel as well. I'm not a fan of Mikayla or the amount of influence she has, but she doesn't owe any brand free promotion. him making like 3 videos directed at her was doing too much. at some point take the L
Wanting someone to actually do what they say they're going to do isn't entitlement. He already took a loss by taking out a loan (that's on him). Making videos continues to expose her for who she is.
First off, why is he dependent on her post for HIS SALES? he shouldn’t have relied on someone that has NOTHING to do with his product to produce income. That’s on him. She doesn’t owe you. I don’t even like her but you really set your own self up.
Never thought I’d say this but I’m team Mikaela. She owes this dude NOTHING. Him being a small business does not entitle him to her audience. Him losing money was his own fault, he cannot rely on her giving him a review to survive. Yes, she said she would review it but guess what? He was not paying her, there was no contract, and it was peak holiday season. Ofc she’s going to prioritize sponsors. It’s very possible that she hated the tan and decided to not post the review but he decided to blast her on TikTok and blame her for him making a dumb business decision by taking out a 10k loan. Sorry but this guy is insane.
I’ve been waiting for this! I don’t like Mikayla at all but I don’t see how this is her fault? He took out that loan, she never told him to. Yeah she should have posted the review when she said she was going to but why would you take out a loan of that amount based on just her word?? I don’t blame Mikayla for this **Having rewatched this video again, why does this guy think Mikayla owes him something?? You asked her to do a review, she reviews something else and you make a video shading her?? As much as he says he’s not relying on Mikayla for the success of his brand, it’s kinda seems like he does. I think this was always his plan and now he’s got what he wanted with exposure and his product sold out
He never said she told him to take the loan out; however, in her previous videos while answering comments, she said that she hesitates to review smaller brands bcuz products tend to sell out after she does reviews and most of them can't keep up with the demand & then people get upset and she is tied to it bcuz she reviewed the product. He was being proactive because on numerous occasions she had told him the review was coming ASAP. He showed their text messages. The way I look at it, if she didn't want to do it, or if she wanted to get paid to do it, she should have communicated that to him and she shouldn't have given him false hope that she would review his product. Communication is key.
@@myopinionnotyours.6053 absolutely. Maybe he wasn't fully aware of her reputation and the fact that she's really messy and lies. I do feel really bad for him.
I agree with the whole indie brand thing but he really shouldn’t have taken out that loan. I think he’s sold out now anyway because of this so either way it got the desired effect. Hopefully he can pay back that money and make more informed business decisions in the future.
She didnt owe him anything. Simple as that. I dont like her, but she was right. However, I also think she shouldnt have told him 'I'll do it tomorrow' if she clearly didnt have time.
He's making drama out of thin air, and then coercing her to do free marketing by applying a bronzer for free?? That takes time to do. He didn't pay her at all. And he wants her time for FREE
I kept seeing bits and pieces of this story, so I’m glad to see all of it here. Not to blame the small business owner but choosing somebody like Michael after just a little research would prove she’s not worth working with. Also, never spent money you don’t have.
He’s assuming that she didn’t record the video weeks in advance and then had her management team post the video as scheduled. I feel for the guy, but to reach out to a big creator and expect them to help in some way is sort of delusional. If people truly care about small businesses then they will only purchase from his custom tan brand. I hope his brand pops off, it soul crushing to have a big company rip off of your idea and then have the audacity to do it half assed
Welp I just put my foot in my mouth. I can’t imagine being able to sleep at night knowing a lied to someone, getting their hopes up, and having them in $10,000 worth of dept over something like this. Horrible
Unfortunately this guy expects one of the biggest influencers out there to do free marketing so he can get ahead in his business. It’s wrong to expect this. It wrong to complain that someone won’t work for him for free much less on his time schedule. Whats worse is he expected free labor on his time schedule for his sole profit then slandered the type of person Mikayla is when he didn’t get what he wanted the way he wanted it. Now Mikayla hides from evil publicity AGAIN because of him. Shame on him! I would never buy his product because of the kind of person he is!
What if she didn’t like the tanner and didn’t want to ruin him?? He shouldn’t have gotten a loan assuming it was gonna take off. She was probably just telling him she loved it but she looked terrible.
I mean if you have plenty of others who look normal and one person who looks awful from your product it's probably the one person who did it wrong. She also should have just said no. I think he's wrong and weird but that doesn't make her right
There are so many better beauty influencers to follow, i really don't get why she's this popular. 🤷🏻♀️ i don't use tiktok so every time i see this woman she's in some kind of drama and either being obnoxious or lying. Or both.
His mistake was to trust in her word. That's not a bad thing--altruism is a great trait--but not in business. She had 4 months to make a video after she promised initially, sure; however, like you said, there's no money involved, so there's no incentive for her to do so. In business, you should never just take someone's word, cuz eventually, you're going to be disappointed.
I would NEVER have gotten this loan without some sort of contract for a review. I would have paid for a review (at % of sales since he can’t pay up front) if I was set enough to get a $10k loan. All in all a bad situation.
I feel bad for him, but he didn't get a contract or agreement from her either.
Yeah, but then he would have been irresponsible if he wasn't prepared.
additionally, i understand what she's trying to say about why she doesn't really review small indie brands anymore, but the fact that bondi essentially plagiarized his brand for a marketing strat and mikayla supported them anyways is weird to me. like if the brand had been actively working towards it (which would've showed in their product), that probably wouldn't have been an issue since dupes are very common, but they basically used his idea without doing any of the work or even trying to resemble it. mikayla showing them off in her video was essentially supporting their theft, which is gross to me.
I mean getting a loan over a promise is wild. A really dumb financial move imo.
Not a fan of Mikayla at all, but PLEASE if you’re a small business owner don’t take out any debt or advance orders without a contract! Really rough situation all around.
agree, don't put all your eggs in one basket.
Totally agree, you can't depend or put your eggs im one basket. I hope his bussiness goes well. And obvs she only does pay reviews it's her livelihood.
Yes, frankly he just seems like a shitty business owner.
This!!! And the fact they still believe Mickayla (?) Like why?
I agree, he was hasty and naive. But I can't fault him for taking her at her word after having multiple conversations, some being over 30 mins long. He trusted her because she continued to lie to him, and he got overly excited thinking he was going to have lots of orders based on the reviews she promised. Not to mention she manipulated him using her mental health as an excuse - of course he believed her. Hard lesson learned on his part, but shame on Mikayla for being shady, as usual!
She posted a response video to him faster than the review she kept promising
For real!

Spending $10k on anyone's word without a contract is crazy 😮
@areswalker5647 exactly 😬 at least he can sell his products to get his money back and some
She has a long standing history now of making millions from her reviews
She is not reviewing small indie brands because she knows she is very likely not going to get paid by them to review their products.

That's exactly what it is. I don't believe a single word word that comes out of her mouth.
Exactly. She's not helping anyone especially if there's another option that will pay her
DING DING DINGGGGG, I wonder how much she got from the Plouise collab
This woman is the living and breathing representation that says "all publicity is good publicity"
She’s like the new Trisha Paytas lol
You're exactly right.
Lmao 🤣 girl for real!
I truly hate her dude. She is so fucking irritating
10000% agree with you

"GET BETTER IDOLS" 😅
I never heard of mikayla until these videos

That’s her fault tbh 🤷🏽♀️ She shouldn’t have lead him on and made it seem like she was going to do said video if she wasn’t comfortable doing it in the first place. It makes NO sense to take someone through the ringer like that.
Why wouldn’t she be all about money? It’s a business these influencers are running. They aren’t a charity.

Yeah cause she's not trustworthy... example lashgate

She somehow still has 15 million followers
Honestly, this is on him. As much as I dont like Mikayla, this isn't on her nor her responsibility. Her only role in this is the promised review. That's it. What rubbed me off from the beginning is his slight entitlement that Mikayla should review his product. He is taking a page out of Chef Pi's pink sauce "marketing".
that’s exactly what i was thinking, to expect an influencer as big as Mikayla to review your product line for free is already crazy
Yup, a hundred percent. He is like the majority of indie brand owners, in my experience. You just can’t avoid a mess with them. They are also often very vindictive.
All she had to do was say no. Say sorry I don’t have the time to do a non paid review.
Honestly, he's better off without her. He doesn't deserve to be tied with Mikayla. He'll make it, that's for sure.
Thank you!!! He’s so entitled! He wants her to give him a hand out and that isn’t how the business world works. He needs to earn it himself.
And shouldn't be controversial
It only is when people start trying to stake their claim and pretend to have re-invented the wheel... or in this case... the tans with formulas that have blue/purple/yellow or olive undertones.

Bro! Mikayla don’t owe you squat! You made a poor decision, plus there was no contract ! So now he creates drama and trust the drama will sell his stock out. HE USED HER REGARDLESS! Boy Bye!
you know the tea is piping when the video is half an hour ☕️
ON GOD
Mikayla knows that no matter how unethical that she behaves, she will still have followers and still be laughing all the way to the bank. It doesn’t matter to her. She is making money and has the mentality of "nothing personal, it's just business!".
I love good tea in the morning ☺️ 🍵
Unfortunately Mikayla doesn't care about small business and he should've believed everything everyone had been saying about her since.
Sometimes if somethings too good to be true and you don't have a contract in place it'll end up like this.❤
SO this guy made a very bad business move and is trying to blame an influencer that is known to be a liar. Don't know what to think
Which would make sense because the minute she does it for one indie brand for free, the rest will come with their own stories asking her to do it
Im pretty sure bondi sands was first to come out with the different undertones.
Exactly. None of this is Mikayla’s fault, it’s all his fault. Yes she’s a douche for lying. But it’s still 100% his fault.
Honestly knowing Mikayla, he should NOT have taken out that loan. It’s WAAAAY to risky with someone like her.
I don't understand why small business owners want her opinion. She is nothing.
TeaSpill: "this is gonna be a long story"
Me: *checks time stamp and grabs a bag of chips*
These two are equally goofy 😂
Never did I ever think I’d be siding with Mikayla but here I am. It’s a shame and I know he was excited to use it but at the end of the day no contract or agreement was in place and she owes him nothing. He openly said he knew about lashgate and her history and still pursued this, I struggle to have sympathy 😂
This man is entitled. She does not owe him anything but she is wrong for saying she would do it and then not.
that's how I feel as well.
It’s not upto her to build his brand. He needs to do that himself. No contract etc so he really jumped the gun placing the 10K order
Yes! Thank you
First off, why is he dependent on her post for HIS SALES? he shouldn’t have relied on someone that has NOTHING to do with his product to produce income.
I don’t blame Mikayla for this
**Having rewatched this video again, why does this guy think Mikayla owes him something??
Yeah he shouldn't have taken the loan but I also understand why he did
I agree with the whole indie brand thing but he really shouldn’t have taken out that loan. I think he’s sold out now anyway because of this so either way it got the desired effect. Hopefully he can pay back that money and make more informed business decisions in the future.
Yeah, it's not her fault at all. He is blaming her for his mistakes.
Literally don’t get a loan based on anyone’s word. Wow
I want to feel for him, but who doesnt already know Mykala is a self-serving liar?! 🤦
She didnt owe him anything. Simple as that. I dont like her, but she was right. However, I also think she shouldnt have told him 'I'll do it tomorrow' if she clearly didnt have time.
Agree.
Its the fact that she posted the response way faster than the review 💀💀 oml
It isn't Mikayla's fault that he ordered $10,000 worth of product. He did this for clout at Mikayla's expense.
Horrible
Right
@@raelynnabraham6643 Mikala lies all the time. Do you get mad when earthquakes collapse houses too?
Unfortunately this guy expects one of the biggest influencers out there to do free marketing so he can get ahead in his business. It’s wrong to expect this. It wrong to complain that someone won’t work for him for free much less on his time schedule. Whats worse is he expected free labor on his time schedule for his sole profit then slandered the type of person Mikayla is when he didn’t get what he wanted the way he wanted it. Now Mikayla hides from evil publicity AGAIN because of him. Shame on him! I would never buy his product because of the kind of person he is!
He just made a dumb business decision.
But why would you get a loan without a contract?!! Bruh 🤦🏻♀️
She’s not posting small business not because she’ll sell them out, it’s because they won’t pay her.
