- Not much photography so far but the trip has really yet to begin. Still in Buenos Aires, a beautiful city that feels as much European as South American. Many changes here with the new administration, at least when it comes to the idea of change. Most of the population seems to be waiting to see what will come of the proposed legislation. There is hope and a willingness to embrace what lies ahead, but there is also slight hesitancy about whether or not the new president can implement all of what was promised. (We do this too. )
I am a terrible tourist. Most of what a tourist would do when they come to Argentina is not of interest to me, so things like tours, or tango shows put on for the masses are not my thing. I prefer to just walk and take in the city as it comes. This might not be exciting for most people but it is for me. We are in full summer here and the city is beginning to broil. Today is ten degrees warmer than yesterday and tomorrow promises even higher temps.
My other reality is attempting to supply Blurb with things that work for their needs. Blurb's online identity is different from mine, and a brand has far more restrictions than a solo agent like myself. I can make long, sloppy, personal things and they might still work, while a brand has to maintain many levels of consistency and style.
Tomorrow, things begin to ramp up as we transfer hotels and meet with the rest of the group.
Milnor, everything you do is interesting-whether you want to show us or not is another thing-your channel is unique. Cheers!
Thank you! I'm just a squirrel triying to find a nut.
I LOVE the behind-the-scenes stuff! Thanks for putting in the extra time for us! Have a great time!
Cool. Glad you like.
Your latin America comment...yup exactly what happened to me in 2009 when I went to Havana. Cuba stole a chunk of my soul/heart. And I didn't mind one bit.
It happens. Surrender to it.
Dan ....At The Mountains of Madness
giving away all your secrets
LOL your wife is very supportive with her honesty
She is.
It was hard not to laugh at the end of the video ... thanks for the kind words.! I guess I'll get hipster and send you some BTS ;)
We can hipster together.
Great @@DANIELMILNOR505 I found a more reasonable Tango schedule for the 9th 🤞
Love to learn about your creative process, whether writing / journaling or photography.
More on the way...
Perfect…
It is interesting you are being you and not creating content.
Been to Argentina several times to shoot La Tradicion gaucho festival in SanAntonio deAreco, covered a car rally through Lake District down across Strait of Magellan to Ushuaia amongst others. Met and enjoyed wonderful relationships with a few special Argentines. Can’t wait to go back. Hope your trip exceeds your expectations and look forward your publication.
That sounds lovely, incredible actually. I will only see a tiny fraction on this trip.
What a trendsetter I’m gonna try it tomorrow in Aspen, my ears underneath my baseball hat. Love it.😂
That's what happens when your dermatologist yells at you for the amount of sun damage on your ears.
Driving through the streets of Paris new years day 1999 at 5 in the morning was incredible. Just some people on the way to the subway, but apart from that completely empty.
New York hours before the hurricane. Stragglers in Halloween costumes.
You journal so much better than me. My journal tends to be all the things I’m doing wrong and what I need to get better…
Journals evolve and there is no right and wrong. Whatever yours looks like, however you use it, that's perfectly fine.
you probably should not show your boarding pass to anyone except airport scanners, its data can be used in social engineering.
It was show the pass or pay 21% tax on the hotel room. Oddly enough I'm reading Kevin Mitnick's book right now.
Cafe Tortoni is a must!
Okay, will try for it on the return.
Happy Holidays Daniel. Your book sounds absolutely like a Dan book project ought to be: 'All Dan' disseminated for our delectation. Perfect. Enjoy 🌟
Yes, the current version is completely and utterly odd.
take care of your luggage on the hotel, it's not safe at all to keep valuable things while you are out. But what a chance to take mate home, such a incredible place.
We are in a super nice hotel. Streets have been calm so far. But we are also in a fairly touristy area.
@@DANIELMILNOR505 its not a violent place at all, its just that this happens a lot with tourists
Good behind the scenes mate. Looking forward to that interview. Safe travels
If you like cemeteries, then visit the Recoleta Cemetery. Really cool old mausoleums and crypts. I spent a day there and could have enjoyed a few more hours, at least. And that was before I got back into photography.
Enjoy Antarctica!
Headed there tomorrow!
@@DANIELMILNOR505 Very cool. It took me a while and asking a lot of people, but I finally found Eve Peron's grave while there.
Sadly, I've never been able to locate the negatives/prints for any of that trip.
ENjoy!
Do you ever let the story reveal itself to you?
I asked if you ever let the story reveal itself to you because as a retiring writer (layered definitions to that), I have written whole novels thinking I knew my story only to discover I had buried the story because I didn’t recognize what it really was. Maybe that doesn’t happen in photography world, but I am willing to bet it does. I think if I had spent less time “deciding” what my story was and more time listening to the story as it revealed itself, I’d have written better books.
I think we are talking about the same thing. A story can evolve, for sure. But you started out with a story idea. That is where a lot of folks now are missing the boat.
Awesome Dan. Really appreciate you taking the time to do this when you probably want to sleep, have a beer, explore, etc. Looking forward to whatever you create from this trip......which sounds like it will be a trip in itself. Safe travels.
pretty mello so far, but things are just getting going.
