I think one thing that makes Jameson such a likeable character for me personally is because he reminds me of Jack Sparrow. Both are mischievous and petty in their own way but when it comes down to life and death, they do what is right. "He's a pirate." "And a good man!"

I love that he's implying that he fully accepts the risk of incurring a lawsuit, and would consider it proper and a sign of society functioning as intended if Spider-Man sued him and got rich from it, because that would be Spider-Man's prerogative, just like it's Jameson's prerogative to defame him. The standard way you avoid the issue in a debate. You look to see if there is any 'legalistic' mistake made by the complainer and refocus the discussion towards that while avoiding the actual issue that was brought up.
