    Those days when people used to say fancy names as their favourite cricketer, i used to say Ajit Agarkar but they were to laugh at me asking who he is. He was a perfect example for a complete cricketer. He, still my favourite cricketer of all time ❤️. Thanks to him for making our childhood memorable ☺️

      Who is he? He is bowler first he needs to excel in his dept then additionally batting the people will be consider him as gem. Example Kapil dev, Anil kumble to some extend. Mediocre bowler. Have you seen him ODI format. ball will fly everywhere when he bowl. Comparing him i will say Irfan was better

    I was 7 years old and I was watching this match. I was the lone audience in my family because other people knew that India will lose but I had a hope that India can cope. Now I am a loser without any hope. We all should be like a child because children are very optimistic. I watched cricket matches for 10 years and after Sachin's retirement I left watching. now I am 27. Radio, newspaper, TV, cricket magazines were my sources of knowing about cricket and cricketers and stats etc ❤️
    Gone are those days 🥺

      That's cz he was and Shardul Thakur is a BOWLER and pretty ordinary one at that. Irfan Pathan was made to open and what not but when the main skill (bowling) wasn't potent enough, he was dropped, and rightly so.

      I guess Shardul Thakur resembles Ajit Agarkar in many ways, be it stature, Team, and abilities.
      I guess it's high time to understand the importance of players like Shardul Thakur, especially in White ball formats. I believe he (Shardul) got great potential to be a great white ball bowling allrounder.

      @@pulseofages India and Dhoni could have use d Irfan in a better way, however the problem with Irfan was that there were many batsmen at that time who can bowl, and secondly there were many spin bowling all-rounder (Yusuf Pathan, Yuvraj, Jadeja etc) who can do the same job as Irfan can do. And most importantly the tail at that time wasn't that weak which they are nowdays.

      He was a batsman in his early days, once sachin saw his throw. It was good fast. Sachin suggested him to try his hands in bowling. That's how he turned into a bowler.

    I still remember that day 21 years ago, his 21 balls half century against Zimbabwe in 2000 and ended up unbeaten 67 from 25 balls
    India had been 114-5 earlier in the game and when agarkar came in theywere 216-6 with 6.3 overs left to bat. Thanks to the No.8’s assault, they managed to make it past 300.His work was far from done, with the seamer taking 3-26 as first-change bowler, heping bowl Zimbabwe out for 262.

    He was a promising batter when he started. I feel the 2000 Down under tour dented his batting abilities gruesomely. For sure he was a far more capable batter than his record shows.

      @@vishalkod his talent was way above his performance. He could have been one of the greatest all rounders in Indian Cricket History. He was a freakish athlete, a great fielder, knew batting basics and could swing the ball. But his talent was not nurtured well.

    Still remember his innings in cuttack that won the match for India against West Indies. ❤️️

    Ajit Agarkar - My Favourite player from childhood. After him only, Sachin for me. His bowling style is inspiration. His batting cover drives are quite impressive like a world class batsman. I remember that they tried to utilise him in Onedown wicket in some ODIs, he even scored 90+ in one match.
