I watch it again and again, every 6 moths or so. Brings back the faith in music and humans. Love is everywhere.
Moment of appreciation for the drummer who is so perfect for this band and always has been
Hands up yo.
THA BEST! i think that every time i listen to BSS...
You can set your watch to that beat.
Yes Justin Peroff is THE MAN!!! Sooo good, and adds the perfect touch to BSS. No drummer could replace him in BSS, that's for sure. 💯🙌
He's not just some actor, man!
Strombo: So how much gear are you bringing?
BSS: Yes.
ALL THE GEARS
Ironically, they used mostly tiny amps here. Which they only seem to do when they know the venue is on point.
I can remember being a band and absolutely needing to have a half-stack. I was a bass player though, and it was a metal band so I wanted hear the guitar players telling me to turn it down a notch for once :)
This band changed my life in 2005. So happy they are still doing it.
Me too.
me too
fuckin yuuuuuuuup
Same.
Those were the days
sound guy killed it. wow.
Well you're not hearing a feed from the floor, this'll be a mix of all their feeds after the show is done. Of course it still does require a good sound tech to get this kinda quality from each individual instrument.
@@keithklassen5320 yeah that's a really good point.
He had a nice M 32 R Mixer - Gold --- ähh also the band :-)
When they played in Windsor I was next to the sound guy and couldn’t hear shit
Lover's Spit with feist just woooow!
i cannot express with words how much i adore this band and their music. they make me feel all the joy of life, by making loud noise and spreading love. i don't tend to share this band with other people because most people i know don't like this type of music, but they will forever be special to me.
Can't put my finger on it. They remind me of the late 80's. I'm gonna figure out what band they remind me of. I'm enjoying their music.
The Cure - Pictures of You
Listen to it, I'll bet a weeks pay it was an influence.
Agree! Just lush!!!
Their music has so many layers. Love them.
AMEN BROTHER
cause = time, the perfect rock song of all-time
Um, no. But decent.
@@joshuapocalypse ok, whats the best song ever for you. I mean I love 100s of artists, but this song is on top for me.
@@joshuapocalypse im gonna go cortez the killer as the second best rock song ever.
Totally agree. Especially live
@@renedesign5354 sorry just saw this now. Too hard to think of one song. I'll think about it and return! ;)
Kevin saying "it's all you" to feist before playing the piano omfg my heart
I think he says "it's on you", but it's beautiful anyway :)
The kiss on the cheek and the smile afterwards at 20:02 oddly epitomises perfectly how Broken Social Scene make me feel
They are married irl. Which makes it even cuter.
That was super wholesome
There is something so special about this performance. The more I listen to/watch it the more I want to see/hear it again. It is just so heart-felt and moving. This band has obviously reached that pinnacle where true magic can happen in performances. I have just ordered 4 of their albums on the basis of watching this, as well as other RUclips offerings: KEXP in Seattle, and other early and excellent performances on the starsandspit RUclips channel. I am loving this band -- thank you so much for sharing this.
I agree. True magic is a good way of putting it. The energy is so strong. I think about this performance often.
They are amazing
How'd that work out for you?
65 years old. Led Zeppelin, Who, Stones, Humble Pie. Something special here.
Perfectly put.
Feist. Crap she’s good and wonderful.
She is but Kevin’s voice is pretty special too. They are all incredible artists.
Finally a properly mixed live show from BSS!!! I am at peace...what a wall of beautiful sound.
sounds almost like na studio album, amazing.
The set from Lollapalooza 2006 is also pretty good. No pro shot video on that though.
Cause = time is incredible in this. Reminiscent of their live versions
well this time they were "only" 4 guitars
Honestly, no band knows how to have fun with one another after so many years like these guys.
Lover's spit. OMFG.
Oh man, they played it at a show as a request last year - I cried
bawling my eyes out at work, smiling
why does this version of this song have so much power. damn
My heart...
This song will always be a favourite.
When they first came out, I had just moved to Toronto, deep in depression with no idea who I was anymore or where I was going. All my musician friends went nuts over these guys, but I just really didn't get them at all.
Thankfully years later all their music makes so much sense to me, and I can thoroughly enjoy the songs. Such an amazing band!
The one and only multi talent & magical voice Leslie Feist. ❤️
Kevin’s voice is pretty special too.
@@guilhemherisson3254 indeed, couldn't agree more
That performance of 1972 was pretty unreal. What a great tune.
This is one of the most magical live performances I've seen... so familiar, joyful and intimate, and at the same time so masterfully executed from a musical point of view, this moment is something you can call sublime, Im glad they captured it in such quality
Also, I love how Feist serenades Toronto every chance she gets. Peace.
What an epic opener, fingers crossed for another tour soon!
Strombo you're a treasure. The Canadian John Peel.
Fell in love with "1972". I keep coming back for that song.
Audham EnTha
“It’s ok,
Got the cemetery gold;
Beauty can’t console”
The intro to Cause is why I'm still here.
Amen!
I just love Lover's Spit. This song and this band shaped my life and I just realised that they have a lifetime to sing this to each other
The first 7 minutes of this is THE BEST THING ON THE WHOLE INTERNET. Freakin' transcendental
This is ridiculously amazing
Jesus that sounded amazing
i love how my man is just rockin against the wall with his unused guit at 2:30
Strombo's sound setup is so good. So many live acts sound like trash but he's nailing it... in his basement.
this is the best version of cause=time i've heard
I once ran into the radio station of a university I didn't attend just to request Cause = Time. They played it!
Man, that Lover's Spit though, right in the feelz.
Never listen to Feist a whole lot but when she comes on wow. That was great.
Never heard of this band, but when the horns first hit in the 2nd song, i’m sold. Thanks, Strombo
Ooooo you're in for a treat!
Yep my dude Grant is right. Took the words right outta my mouth. Check out their song It's All Gonna Break if you dig the horns!
@@warhellride just listened to it. god i needed that. thanks
123bluesssman Always happy to recommend music, my friend! Other faves worth checking out: Cause=Time, 7/4 (Shoreline), Superconnected, Vanity Pail Kids
@@123bluesssman I wish I could hear "It's All Gonna Break" for the first time again. Jealous!
Also, have a feeling you might enjoy the band Do Make Say Think. Check out the album "Other Truths". Rockin stuff with some horn action.
Great Gig love BSS super band
Great performance of Lover's Spit
I think Feist wear one of the traditional clothing from my country. I feel proud. Greetings from Indonesia.
I wish someday I can see you live guys!
One of the best live shows in the whole history of youtube right here.
Feist is as beautiful as ever
saw this band live in 2003 in sf, and i have never stopped listening. they are one of those soundtrack to your life type bands.
So good to see these guys still shaking the walls after all these years.
Thanks Strombo and musicians
I do appreciate it
Canadian Classic
I need this in my life again...slowly dying without live music.....
Soon I hope. Wherever you're from.
The videography, the sound mixing, all of it is breathtaking! Long live House of Strombo
Sending love from Nepal.
This band has been the soundtrack to my life for the last 20 years.
This band still has perfect sound, they've aged well...and of course, with the lovely Feist to join them here. Perfect!
Lover's spit is such a beautiful song.
I watch this way too often...just so good
I sometimes come here just for "Total Eclipse of the Heart"
@@justinizzo4372 man 100%
I'm so happy! They are going to play in Mexico City in november! ♡♡♡
I can't wait to sing Can' t find my heart.
1972 is a magic song
I hope this series never ends! Amazing!
This is absolutely IN-credible
Opener harkens back to a loose New Order vibe with some textural guitaring. BSS got me through some jagged years of self-reflection.
Freeeeeeeeeeeking awesome.
Incredible video, incredible sound, incredible music. Strombo pulls it off once again.
Awesome. Easy to see why Emily Haines and Jimmy Shaw take such interest and make contributions. They give a great sense of freedom..
Looks like a fun party. Needs more guitars though.
Thanks for posting.
...funny
I can't believe I just discovered this! Such a treat.
Pure magic and soul! they always play with a lot of heart and it’s beautiful.
So great in so many ways!
This is the band that made me give toronto a second look - wow!
I hate to admit I don't listen to BSS that much - I like them - but holy shit, this is insane.
I don't have anything to add other than this is one of the most perfect live performances I have listened to on youtube
Thank-you Jason Collett for your splendiferous performance of "I’ll Bring The Sun”. Your chops are in fine form; and an inspiration!
Shut your eyes and it's Mike Scott singing with the Waterboys
The Cause = Time performance giving me some real good My Morning Jacket vibes
Supernice.
The best performance of Cause=Time beside the Coachella show a few years back that disappeared online. Phenomenal. So god damn awesome. Thank you!
Great band 😀
Ibi Dreams of Pavement and Bonnie Tyler. Who would have ever thought - that was unreal
Really fascinating watching all the electric guitars playing together and off each other in the first song - some beautiful sounds.
so good
People, top notch concert. What a "total eclipse from the heart" energy. Cheers
And the Beautiful Leslie Feist Gracing Us with Her Presence and Sweet Sultry Style.. :)
*Thank You* Feist, that was lovely, Indeed.
This is the Best! Always loved this band!
leslie feist sounds great as ever...
Cause=Time takes me right back to that time and place, living at Grandma's, playing SOCOM 2 until my shift at Domino's.
Oh man Socom 2 was so good. Green up!
@@ShaneAOF Foxhunt/Seals was my jam. What was your specialty? Remember when you could actually specialize in ONE map instead of being taken through dozens of non-unique maps?
Green up!
@@SwitcherooU Oh there's so many. I was a big fan of Desert Glory, Crossroads, Night Stalker, Fish Hook. Probably forgetting some but it was probably the best online experience I've had. The chat rooms and lobbies still seem more advanced than todays random mess. Plus the clan wars!

I love you, stranger
Thanks amillion!
Thanks!!!!
ALL TIME! Love this band. Such a great set and they seem to be enjoying the shit out of it.
Covering the refrain of "Total Eclipse of the Heart" at the end makes this whole video worthwhile. That is by far one of the greatest songs of all time.
Oh Man, It's so good.
Oh wow, a perfect Sunday night listening to these guys.
So much talent here...just watch the instrument changes + weaving in + out of vocalists ~ musical brilliance...Y'all rule!
great band
House Of Strombo videos are all super epic
Love Broken Social Scene folk rock
What a superb recording. These live versions sound phenomenal, especially Cause = Time.

Jeezus the bass on song two by the DMST dude is amazing
Can't tell if I'm more in love with Ariel or 1972...
jockeydef Pool feelings mutual
Ariel's awesome.
This is BEAUTIFUL.... I love what they make me feel... Thanks.. From El Salvador.. Yeah lml
These two new tracks instantly became a couple of my favorite BSS songs ever. Wow they're amazing! FIngers crossed for a new album sooner than later??
I wish I was there. Absolutely beautiful music. I'm waiting to buy my tickets to Europe because I'm hopeful of some tour dates across the pond will be announced soon. Planning my vacay around BSS.
