As a 65 yr old, gotta say we never got this level of live technical perfection from the Beatles. This band, this setting, and these grooves as the sun goes down-we are in a new renaissance of live intimate performance. Inject this band into my veins!
Innerspeaker is very heavily derived from mid 60s Psych rock, and Kevin Parker’s voice does remind me of John Lennon. Go listen to Skeleton tiger when you get a chance
The beatles didn't have the technology. They stopped touring because of it, it was years later when paul mccartney performed a lot of their songs live for the first time. They couldn't even hear themselves play at most gigs because the crowd were screaming so loud, so they rarely bothered practicing and thus their live quality was poor to average.
Takes me back to first year of uni when I first heard this song and album and thought it was the best thing I'd ever heard. Afternoons in the sun smoking weed, young and carefree. Sigh lol.

Damn. This reminds me of when the band I was in moved in together. During the week, we’d write songs, rehearse, smoke weed, have our girlfriends over and listen to lots of music. Then on weekends we’d go to venues across Manchester and Liverpool and play gigs. We were all broke af but I was incredibly happy. This album in particular makes me remember one night when everyone was staying out except me and the guitarist. He came home and said "man I’ve managed to get hold of some LSD, do you fancy tripping tonight?". So we put all the sofa cushions on the floor, got a load of blankets, lit loads of candles so that was our only light source, and finally we had a sound system auxed into a laptop with RUclips. It was an incredible night. We tripped balls and laughed our arses off. Something about this album resonated with us, because we must have listened to it 4 or 5 times that night. As a result, I’ll always have a special place for this album, with Alter Ego being my favourite track from it

A piece of God. Bliss. Darkness & light. I did psychedelics to this multiple times in my younger days, and it is forever engrained into me…I truly think this is the best psychedelic album of our time and yes, I’m well versed with so many other masterpieces too.
I love how the sun slowly sets over the Indian Ocean over the course of the session. It tracks the mood perfectly. Innerspeaker is still my favorite, although the musical evolution of Kevin and TI has been remarkable. Always something new to savor with each release. How lucky are we to have such talent and inspiration to enjoy?
Kevin's vocals sound amazing here. So much confidence and swagger compared to the original recording! So glad this record was revisited, these songs are great and deserve the love and care put into this performance.
@Moxie Allen eh Innerspeaker is my least favorite of his albums. Lonerism and Currents feel the most focused to me, and I really like TSR, really impacted my coming right at the beginning of the pandemic. I like a few songs from Innerspeaker but it just doesn’t speak to me really.
his falsetto has improved so much since innerspeaker first came out, we love it. i need this mastered and released on streaming platforms asap!! this version of innerspeaker might be my favorite lol
I feel like his mic skills have improved, just from experience. Uses the mic to cover up any flaws or lack of power, instead of exposing them. Plus he's prob just better.
never purposefully watched it myself, as it was brought upon me by my 10th grade history teacher back then who played this kind of music all the time in the classroom best history teacher that I'll always remember due to his music taste influencing my own.
Some songs on Tame's early albums sound like Lennon had a band with McCartney on bass, Mitch Mitchell on drums and David Gilmour on guitar with Hendrix's Fuzz. Of course Kevin has his unique personality and his way of creating/expressing, his own thing. But it's clear that his sound has a lot of the 60's, 70's
That song is incredible. One of the last ones I appreciated. But it takes me to another dimension! Gift that keeps giving listen so often and still I find it fresh. It's bizArre.

46:50 Is a unique variation of the ending of The Bold Arrow Of Time only seen here. Sounds soo good, it deserved to be on the 10th anniversary album but wasn't lol
I like how the drummer is NOT just smashing the drums as hard as possible with every hit. He's playing dynamically, even on the more rocking songs. This is a great lesson for all drummers, even metal guys - you don't have to play as loud as possible.
It’s because the mics and mix board used to track the drums add a bit of compression to help the small hits sound louder without those smashing frequencies you get from shredding the drums lol
Is that something that was common in this era? I know it’s a struggle for me sometimes with Glass Pony, the nerves get you and it impacts the performance
Always like the first time, raw, a wire felled, sparking in the dark, the frigid water, now I hear music, I'm feeling like trying to be warmer, safer, cleaner finally OMFG genius KP!
Dude ! More than anything else happening (obviously the entire environment and aesthetic is just... amazing.), I must've ran back a few of this dudes fills like "wait wtf? He didn't even flinch!" about a dozen times. Unreal how much control this man has.
this sounds like nostalgia. back then in 2010, listening to this album non-stop, walking and cycling listening to it. a whole new world of sounds ahead. a feeling of serenity, self-discovery, curiosity. a huge dose of energy. it's like all of these songs would shine. sometimes the world is beautiful
F**k! You couldn't have said it any better! It was the best feeling in the world! I just love how life takes you back to reminisce about a time in your life when you felt truly happy! 😌
Same here. It is really magnificent and I come back so often to listen to this awesome set. Plus stunning ocean views :) this sounds better than the actual album recording, I so love this.
Tame Impala will always take me back to the beginning of my psychedelic journeys.. Even though being sober makes you realize the biggest TRiP is LiFE, ~music* brings memories back to life, & I don’t mind dying floating on the energy// the waves of these vibrationsss
Kevin has a time machine. He went back to 1968, spent time with The Beatles, Jimmi Hendrix, Cream - then brought the psychedelic magic back to share with us.
A co-worker with PTSD and depression was having a rough time this week, I sent her here and prescribed mushrooms to supplement. She has never heard of TI...I said make sure you tie yourself to a piece of furniture so you don't float off into space. She looked confused and I said "you'll see"

I love how Kevin and friends manage to represents the sound of the album recording made a decade ago. He's definitely 'being responsible for what he had created.
The rawness of the third song is so good and so hard to get right in studio. This live performance allows them to express that song in a way they could not on the album.
This live session recording along with, Radiohead - In Rainbows From the Basement (April 2008), are 2 of the best pieces of live music on RUclips. I would have sold my soul twice over to be present at both of these sessions.
I remember when this album came out and my older sister said “you gotta listen to this” and my taste in music was forever changed. It’s the kind of music that scratches that itch but leaves you wanting more. Still one of my all time favorite albums.
I kept hearing Let it Happen on a Spotify playlist I like and eventually looked him up cause I absolutely adored the song. I started with InnerSpeaker listening to the whole discography and man was I shook by that album in particular. So damn good
this is just simply amazing, great performance of a criminally underrated album in full length. while performing at a beautiful house overlooking the Australian coastline at dusk, the same place where the album was recorded. You are really able to see and feel the atmosphere that this album was created in. this is just awesome
right? especially w/ the perspective of time, this performance is a beautiful & legendary retrospective and continuation of that album itself as a work of art, pretty damn transcendental
i want to drown myself in this album and that house it's such a relevant piece of art - the music, the location, Kevin and his 'mates', its nothing short of divine and just embraces my soul at the deepest level.
The fact they did this is amazing. I remember walking around on a hot day high out my mind in 2013-14 bumping this album lol. My first Tame Impala album was Lonerism, then I went back and explored and loved this album just as much! I’m glad Kevin did this! I wish more artist would do this for a 10 year anniversary! Good on em!
In a time where the double standard expectation for artists to stay trapped within their past but encouraged to evolve, Tame Impala does all of the above. Not only that, but they seem to approach playing old material as a time warp. Like it's just as fresh and funky as the day it came out over ten years later. Tame Impala and Kevin Parker forever. What a time to be alive to witness this
Those first three albums.... just life changing. It must have been like what it was like when Hendrix put out a new album or early Pink Floyd. Just stunning work
@@9999bigb In a way, I do see Kevin as the modern day Hendrix. Not overly technical, just speaks from the soul. But also technical, cause Kevin is that good
absolute, just perfect. everything in its place. It is like someone dug into my brain and figured out exactly what makes my soul feel ok, what notes to play what effects to use, to bring me to this place, the place I am when this is playing.
I think they only did this as it was the anniversary of the album release and they recorded the album at this place so not sure they’d do the same with other albums
Awesome, both “Innerspeaker” and “Lonerism” are albums that need to be played and listened to as complete works. They lose their context if you appreciate the songs individually. A tour playing these two masterpieces in the same way as this beautiful audiovisual record would be greatly appreciated. Eternal.
They recorded two albums at this studio, so it would make perfect sense that the sound is dialed in here like the albums, im sure they are intimate with the spot in many ways and in my experience comfortable bands play better than tired ones. Anyhow can agree the sound quality is amazing.
I think it's better than the original. I love how Kevin's voice cracks at least once in this, and in "Live Versions" so you know it's real. Love these guys.
Amazing performance. These guys were always great musicians but in the past couple of years they've been absolutely superb. They nailed every song to perfection here, some performances are so good that I prefer this version to the studio one. And they make it look so easy too. The sound mix is freaking beautiful and Kevin's singing is significantly better than those early Tame Impala days. And the beautiful scenery of the wave house is just the cherry on top. This really is one of the greatest recorded live performances I've ever seen or heard. I hope they do something similar for Lonerism!
I went to their concert twice, once in 2016 and the second time last year. It’s one of the best experiences I’ve ever had. I still come back to footage I took from the last one and start crying. This music changed me🤍
The fact that this doesn't have 20+ million views is sad. The whole performance is amazing, I think it's better in almost everyway than the studio album.
@@JS-yu1wt Yeah, but you compare that to the kind of garbage pop music that gets released currently, those videos get 5-50 million views in a matter of days, it's unfortunate that actual good music isn't at the forefront of the musical stage.
all i can say is wow. what a time to be alive. idk if theres ever going to be a album that hits me like this one does. what an amazing recreation of it too. masterpiece
For the album to sound quite literally the exact same when performed live speaks volumes about not only the band, but also the purity of the project altogether. Not to say that his other projects aren’t good since they’re all fantastic, but this is the only album made without synthetic aids, and it’s incredible
happy birthday to the greatest phsyc rock album ever, InnerSpeaker. And honestly, i think that the live version is even better than the normal album. Thanks for doing this, in a fantastic way.

Oh so it’s western Aus? Around the Margaret River region? I was trying to figure out where it was exactly, it’s beautiful.

What a fuckin band you have...

@Moxie Allen Bad opinion
his falsetto has improved so much since innerspeaker first came out, we love it. i need this mastered and released on streaming platforms asap!! this version of innerspeaker might be my favorite lol
I feel like his mic skills have improved, just from experience. Uses the mic to cover up any flaws or lack of power, instead of exposing them. Plus he's prob just better.
What an absolute treat. Any plans to do this with Lonerism? 😇
We can hope
Ima need that!

Oh shiiit, did not expect to see you here. Dunno why, makes sense that good youtubers would like good music
MusicWizard spotted in the wild.
I've watched this so many times and youtube keeps recommending it... so I'm gonna keep watching it.
never purposefully watched it myself, as it was brought upon me by my 10th grade history teacher back then who played this kind of music all the time in the classroom
best history teacher that I'll always remember due to his music taste influencing my own.
Of course...thats why its a corner stone of the genre known as modern psych rock....
Kevin's music, THIS album especially, speaks directly to my soul.
You could say... It speaks to the inner you... A Innerspeaker

I have to come back to this marvel once in a while. The songs, the setting and vibes are just perfect. Kick back, light a joint and immerse yourself.
Amazingly only a ride cymbal used as crash ride...
Metal is suppose to be played loud.

In a time where the double standard expectation for artists to stay trapped within their past but encouraged to evolve, Tame Impala does all of the above.
