ahhh idk if its just the bump or the pregnancy glow making her look just extra gorgeous 😭 she is such a cute future mom, i'm so excited for her to go on this journey and all the baby clothes she's gonna make 🥺
I never really considered how different the construction of overalls was to regular pants but... they definitely are 2 completely different items of clothing 😭
Good idea, however, I have to say, I'm 82, and have been sewing since I was a little kid, and never went through one yet. In my early days, we made button holes by hand... til I got a zig zag... lol. They were nice. I still like them best.
I JUST realised we are about to get a BUNCH of adorably baby clothes content. No pressure Wendy, being a mum is hard work, but if you are here for it know that the people are here for it too
Omg the way Wendy talks about the mental dilemma when she walks away from a sewing project is EXACTLY how I feel when i walk away from a program I’m coding up.. like more than 3 days and I’m like 😥
Don’t know why I’m watching this, I don’t sew, I’ve had my kids so I don’t need maternity clothes and yet I’m watching. It’s so relaxing and I can pretend I’ll learn to sew.
That’s how I started out! I would watch Wendy and Coolirpa sew all these great items and think, I could never do that! Now I sew most of my own clothes and a bunch for my kids! I still am learning new skills, but it’s so fun for me! Maybe one day you’ll find yourself sewing :)
@@bethanyhutchinson6714 Hi, I think its great for anyone to be able to sew, or any other way they make clothes . I was a huge fan of knitting but have had to give ut up due to severe arthritis in my hands. Now I weave on lap looms, x have just taken up Drop Spindle Spinning. Trying ti spin my own yarns to weave with. Whatever Craft any one does is so beneficial in so many different ways. Especially with all the things we've been going through . Hope everone enjoys what you do. Take care & stay .
@@bethanyhutchinson6714 that’s great. I always imagine clothes that I’d like to wear but can’t find in stores, but I’ve tried sewing, I’m just not visual enough to picture how all the pieces work together. I’m the type that can’t draw a straight line, even with a ruler. I’ll stick to occasionally knitting something.
OMG I've been watching you since "How to Make an Infinity/Circle Scarf" video and now you are all grown-up, shine like a star, look absolutely gorgeous and have a baby on the way. This video has actually made me tear up a little. You are wonderful Wendy. I wish you all the best in life!
Wendy! That Godzilla shirt is amazing!! Also, would you ever consider showing how you do your eyeliner? Sincerely, someone who aspires to do theirs as good as yours. Thanks for the wholesome content
Same!!! The nice thing about the style I made here is it’s a bit loose at the waist, so that’s one less place to worry about fit which made it an easier place to start!
Just found your channel today! I'm so happy! You're so inspirational, sweet and positive. I decided today that I wanted to finally start learning how to make my own clothes after so many sad, sad purchases. I've always wanted to make my own plaid school skirt/pleated mini tennis style skirt but could never find what I needed. I'm anxious, excited and feeling absolutely lost but I want to forge ahead. Gonna start with a face mask and then start trying the skirt. Thank you!
hey wendy i dont know if you will read it but when i started sewing a few years ago i used to watch your videos but then i lost you, and YEARS LATER just knowing that there was a "with" in your name i found you, more than a million followers and a bump, i'm emotional
I made a 3 piece suit from beautiful sheets I had. I got tons of compliments and when asked where I purchased the beautiful material, they could not believe it was made from recycled bed sheets.
@@courtneyradatz7964 I know, my colleagues could not believe I used recycled bed sheets. They were in awe , plus they had no idea I could see . Yes , a three piece suit from bed sheets. Now that I am much older I don’t sew as much as I did I quilt and smock, crochet 🧶 those type things but I have a little girl coming in September ( my daughter and her husband is expecting) and I am going to sew for her . I am so excited. Thank you for acknowledging my post. Have a good week coming up.
Hey Wendy! For the double stitching, a Vogue jeans pattern I made once advised a technique where you finish the raw edge of each piece individually and then press the seam open and from the right side sew one row of stitches on either side of the seam. It was nice because it was less bulky but gave the same effect as pressing the fabric all to one side. I think it's a less common technique, and I thought you'd like to know about it!
Yes, thank you for going over how to use the button attachment! I've looked at it and wondered how to use it, but had yet to try it out. I'll be referring to this video later for that.
This comes at a great time. I’ve been sitting on some awesome rust colored heavy linen I wanted to make into shortalls using a pair of Lucy and Yak overalls I already own and love. They’re completely button free (they have loops and ties at the top and pull on) and a bit of a baggy fit and I’m not new to sewing so I was hoping it wouldn’t be too bad but I think watching this will help.
Hi Wendy. Love these. Top tip: place a pin across the end of your button hole before you use your seam ripper to make the whole. It won't go past your pin by accident x😊x
A tip if you plan on making any baby clothes is to not make things that have sleeves or pants. The legs annd arms grow so fast that they out grow things fast! A dress for a girl can be worn longer or for a boy overal shorts. Basically then grow more and faster in length then in width.
Sewing brain is SUCH a thing! I’m constantly going through the construction of a garment and figuring out the math-parts even as I’m falling asleep when I’m knee-deep in a project.
You are totally rocking that overalls with the pretty baby bump!! I really love watching your videos and how you make me feel calm when you are talking. ❤️❤️❤️
You look amazing with your baby bump!!! 🥰🥰 I wish i would’ve bought myself my sewing machine before I had my 4 yr old. I would’ve made myself soo many things and for the baby as well lol. Which brings me to my next question: Will you be sewing some clothes for your baby??
Wendy, what a lovely job! I love how you dive in to new projects and learn new skills! I’m hoping to up my pants making game and this project helped give me another little nudge to jump in!
Love the mock flat fell stitch! And using a mock French seam is sometimes easier than using a blanket stitch or zig zag to finish the seam. But I’m lazy and just serge lol!
You are so cute, baby bump, and overalls, and all. Good work! Those are so nice. Great color, and your craftsmanship is amazing. Thanks for sharing the details of how it all got thought out, and how it all got put together. It makes me feel like, I'm not alone, when I have to rip out something and re invent it. Good luck with the pregnancy/baby, etc.
So cute. I had white cotton overalls when pregnant. Loved them. Wore then the day before my daughter was born. About a week later my husband said, that last day you looked huge! I said it was the white overalls.
I think you might need more than one row of buttons and a wider side piece for your growing belly and for when you are pp. You get bigger in all directions and way lower than the adjustable front part. That's why maternity pants aren't just an elastic band at the top of regular pants but have this very low u-shaped front. I don't know if I'm explaining this well. But having just the strips to adjust is like just extending the length of a shirt but not the width.
these are perfect!! i ordered overall clasps and buttons a few weeks ago to try making some, and when they finally get here this video will be a huge help in guiding me :)
Id love to see what adjustments you did on the basic pants-pattern to make it into overalls? Did you just lengthen it upwards or did you combine it with a ”torso” block? 🌷❤️ Turned out sooo cute!
hey wendy, I think it would be super cool if on your videos you had a little stamp that specified whether it was beginner/ intermediate/ advanced skills require. would be cool addition

“Nothing to it but to do it” I need that printed on something 😂 thank you so much I’ve been stuck on making some overall shorts. The pattern I bought said I could use linen I soon realized that it’s way too thin and kind of see through. I don’t want to use corduroy because summer is coming up so I bought some thicker cotton in the same color you got the inspo from. I also have not lined anything yet 😭 so I am having a really hard time even starting. I saw that you only lined the top do you think I should line the bottom too? If that’s the case do I cut double one for the front and one for the lining and then sew it together or should I line them by piece and then sew together. I hope I make sense 😭 but please help 💕

“Is she microwaving or sewing?” I caaaan’t 😂😂😂😂😂
Sometimes I start pressing buttons on the machine and forget where I was even heading
Wendy making videos during her pregnancy is so wholesome to see. She's just enjoying her crafts and I could really feel it.
I really appreciate that Wendy wears clothes she makes from previous videos. Refreshing to see her genuinely care about sustainability and upcycling!
I never really considered how different the construction of overalls was to regular pants but... they definitely are 2 completely different items of clothing 😭
Yes! One depends on your shoulders to stay up and the other depends on your waist/hips, which changes the things you have to get right on the fit :)
wendy is like the library of good patterns and advice, i’ve been in need of an overall pattern
Agreed! I’ve been searching for the last half year to find something. Thank you Wendy 😘
Pro Tip:
When opening buttonholes, place a pin across the top of the buttonhole so you don't seam rip all the way through..
Good idea, however, I have to say, I'm 82, and have been sewing since I was a little kid, and never went through one yet. In my early days, we made button holes by hand... til I got a zig zag... lol. They were nice. I still like them best.
