Love the live listen feature and my airpods pro. I’m being fitted soon but until then,i have used this feature when receiving directions or in person training. It helps a lot and since i have my audiogram in the health section of my iphone, the airpods are sufficiently loud enough to fill in the spots where otherwise i would be clueless. Sound quality is good also.

Thank you, Dr. Cook. People in the front set of a car almost never turn around when speaking to someone in the back. Of course, the driver cannot do this. They can hear me, since I'm speaking toward them, but I can't really hear them properly.. This is about to become my new favourite iPhone feature when I'm sitting in the back seat of the car. 🙂

Is there a shortcut to turn streaming on? I go to "Accessibility", then "Hearing Devices", Then "Connected", then turn streaming to left and right to the "on" position. I don't like to leave streaming on all the time, because I don't want to answer iPhone through hearing aids every time it rings. And it seems that Live Listen only works if streaming is turned on. Thanks.

EXCELLENT! Thanks for presenting. I'll try this the next time I go to a restruant and need to hear people at the table that are away from me. I'll put my iPhone at the opposite end of the table where I am sitting.

This is a feature I've been recommending since it came out, but only to those with a moderate loss in the low frequencies or greater where the client can also mute the microphones on their hearing aids. For lesser degrees of loss there are often latency issues due to the difference between the direct and indirect (streaming) sound path which result in poor audio quality and reduced intelligibility.

I love this feature. Great for when you are in situations where you are too far from the speaker at an event. You can use live listen and put your phone closer to the speaker and then sit further away.

Several years ago, I got my madee for iPhone hearing aids, and really liked the live listen feature. The only problem is the latency can get really bad where people would sound like they're coming from a room with a lot of echo. It's annoying to say the least. I really wish this can be fixed.

Hi. Since you presented this do you know if there's now available an android app that will accomplish this on an android phone (plus hearing aid)

It’s great in our minivan on trips with our 5 kiddo’s. It can be a challenge hearing the kids in the 3rd row. With live listening I’m good to go 👍

Hello, came across this video, do I need to have Iphone phone service to use this feature?

Android has a similar feature, but no Mfi required. It is the “Amplify Ambient sound” , under the hearing enhancements menu.

My sister has a iPhone 14. A week ago she was fitted with Phonak paradise I think it was. Number 90. She has a Apple Watch 8 and was trying to pair the watch to the hearing aids. I had her try to then try to pair through accessibility..that’s when I learned Phonak are not made to work with apple like many of the other brands that blue advantage insurance covers like onicon, starky. I think maybe even true hearing brand. I have the list. Her right hearing aid just sends the sound to her left ear as she can’t hear out of her right ear. The audiologist recommended Phonak. I need hearing aid but I would want a brand that Bluetooths through accessibility in settings on phone and use phone as a Roger device. I have no idea if the iPhone works anywhere near as good as the Roger accessories. Thanks enjoyed the video

Why don’t Apple’s AirPods amplify ambient sound and play the sound back through the very good speakers.
Loud sounds are already blocked. Then I would not need hearing aids that cost the price of 4 IPhone’s?

The challenge is that you need to put your phone closer to the sound you want to hear, which means you can’t use it for anything else during that time.

You're not wrong, but done with consent it's a great feature. Also the non-consensual version of this is not that much creepier than someone setting the phone to record and then listening later
