    It is a great feature. I doesn't replace my hearing aids and won't in the near future, but what it can do is help me when I go for a walk listening to music or a book, and I meet someone I want to talk to. Instead of having to swap my Airpod Pros for my aids I can use Live Listen.I really want  to keep improving this feature because it could be a game changer for people like me with hearing difficulties. Thanks for bringing this up, Gary.

      It took me two years to find someone who had the skill to set my hearing aids up. I couldn’t hear. I have moderate to profound loss. I wonder if I could use my iPhone with my hearing aids? I hope and trust that Apple becomes involved and develops hearing aids that really work. I considered buying these devices. I’ve worn hearing aids for over 20 years. Setup is the most important part of making hearing aids work. There are fatal flaws in hearing aids use. Apple would make them work!

      I’ve worn hearing aids for over 20 years. I need to see you as you talk to be able to read lips and understand you better. Hearing aids don’t fix bad hearing. Perhaps ear pods will replace my $6,000 hearing aids in future. I know Apple can make products better than what we have now.

    Aside from not matching frequency loss as properly fitted hearing aids do, what is its effect on daily battery life? Hearing aids can work from getting up to bedtime for several days. iPhones not so much, unfortunately.

    • @macmost
      @macmost  2 года назад +2

      I wouldn't try to use them as a medical 'hearing aid' replacement, but as an aid in certain situations: meetings, events with speakers, watching TV, dinner conversation, etc. The iPhone battery shouldn't be an issue if you just charge while you sleep. But AirPods need to be charged every few hours at least. They charge fast though.

  • @wilbertvanbakel
    @wilbertvanbakel 2 года назад +1

    In general hearing loss means that you miss the higher frequencies. The result is that you won't hear the difference between 'S' and 'F' or 'P' and 'T' (etc.), which makes conversations confusing. Amplifying the sound does not remedy this. Hearing aids function like equalizers, they compensate by boosting the missing frequencies. Hearing aids are just as personal as glasses, they come with a prescription designed for your own needs. No one else can listen with my hearing aids.
    Please don't create the illusion that amplification solves hearing loss problems.
