One of the best tutorials I have found. It moves quick and wastes no time and has all the information needed. The pause button is your friend. My Little Sister avatar now has her needle!
also as this isnt specified in the video before you upload the avatar make sure to delete your duplicate model, dont worry everything transfers over to the current one
Thank you, thank you very much. No long explanations that take your time away, not losing the time by repeating what you just did. Just step by step showing how to. Straight to the point, easy to follow. This is a great resource for people unable to eatch 30 minute long videos.
for anyone who is having the issue of your recording stopping when you select your prop check if your prop has an animator component on it, after I removed the animator component on it I was able to select it during the recording without the recording getting cancelled
this video saved my life , i do 3d furry commission for 2 years and i still didn't learn about outfit toggles in vrchat until i see your video , thank you so much
You're a life saver. I regrettably looked at ever other tutorial before this and they were all confusing and took WAYYY too long. This is straight to the point and your pacing is *great* ! Thank you so much, defs sharing this to my 'no longer bf' welp
Everytime I get stuck, a Sipp's tutorial saves the day, to the point, clear and concise, really appreciate it! Between you and Player_Bush001, VRC has become my Oyster, Created my first world, and now well on the way with my own Rex.
i've been learning much with your videos since i'm new to avatar making, i'm happy that my penguin can be a engineer with turrets! at the start it was quite hard to follow along quickly but i managed to get through just fine, this video was the fun trip to learn!
this was very easy to understand, coming from someone with no experience! I had to remove some parameters first because of the avatar base I am using had filled the parameter data, but it was very easy to remove some of the unneeded parameters and set up new ones.
I want to add a note to this if you already have gesture animations mapped to the hand holding the prop, add an avatar mask to the prop for the hand it's in so it doesn't break the other animations!
No begs the question why it worked in a different way for someone else but for me it didn't. This video showed me that my brain is in fact capable of making Toggles 😆 thank you so fucking much. This is what i call a tutorial - no big yapping just straight to the point yet still with some helpful tips☺️👍🏼
no matter how many times i do toggles i can never figure it out alone, but this yt vid is a savior thank you for making this vid i hope ur yt receives a lot of growth in the near future.
This helped me figure out why my eyes would stop blinking when I did a toggle for eyes closed. I used the example you gave and used an idle state instead of going straight into having eyes on.
5 minutes that took 45min to follow. very information compacted, which is good. I had to guess a few times where to click, but it worked out. Also, I had to go into rig config and exit out without changing anything in order to fix the avatar from constantly crouching. And I'm quite confused why you make a copy of the avatar. But all in all, very nice, and made me able to do what I wanted :) EDIT: After struggling with this for several hours, I saw you need to uncheck Loop Time in the animation properties
IIRC The avatar can get stuck in a different position when messing with the animator. Making a duplicate lets you use animator without the worry of the original avatar breaking.
Your tutorials are very good. I've been struggling with how to use unity and many of the tutorial videos I've come across on other channels are incomplete, or just not easy to follow. Thank you so much!
Thank you. Invaluable information! I forgot the first steps on how to get there, once I was in the expression menu and fx windows, it was smooth sailing. Cheers!
Holy fuck, idk what i'm doing wrong, i've rewatch this tutorial 10 times trying to figure out what i missed, this is so frustrating. nothing wrong with the tutorial, easy to follow steps.
Holy F*ck. They actually did it. With this, you can make "dynamic" avatars (in the sense that you can switch clothes, and probably even haircut). VRChat hasn't changed much in appearance, but what's under the hood really improved with Physbones, toggles and IK 2.0! EDIT : So, I was wondering. In order to change clothes, do they need to be set as accessories? I saw a tutorial on RUclips that required merging two armatures, it sounded long and annoying so I'm looking for another method ^^'. For now I'll just make my character half-naked and set the clothes as accessories, like the hats in this example.
Many thanks! Was able to make a prop for my WoL! Quick, concise, and most of all simple enough for a complete beginner to VRchat rigging to follow! -Only oddity is that trying to add a second prop wouldn't allow me to parent it to the bone, saying it needed to be unpacked or something.- I was an idiot, I was dragging under rather than on the bone.
Please make a tutorial that shows how to upload a non humanoid (generic) rig and how to make animations like walking and other expressions ❤️ Would highly appreciate it
I lost sleep trying to figure out how to put a gun that came with an avatar I bought onto her and this looks way easier than what the other tutorials were trying to get me to do.
Couple of things aren’t working here. First, I’m not able to go to the prop in my armature and enable it while it record mode. Doing so turns record mode off. I can create the animation by clicking Add Property and selecting it there. PropOn has the checkmark for Game Object is Active selected and PropOff doesn’t. Second, I set the toggles up in the FX controller the way you did and they don’t work despite showing up in VRC. Similar situation as above in the FX controller. If the prop is checkmarked, it’ll be on my avatar. If it isn’t, it won’t. But in either case, it can’t be toggled on or off.
@@hazzy5714 (Completely random idea, I'll test it out in a second) I assume it would work somewhat like having a 2nd model of it, and having it where you want it on your back. Have it off of course, and have the one in your hand on. Turn on Record then turn off the one in the hand then turn on the one on the back, I'm not sure about the transition stuff though. I assume it would be the same. (As I said, a complete guess) I hope this helps!
Does this apply to clothes too? I've been trying to figure that out for awhile now. I haven't used Unity for that long and adding clothes is one of the things im stumped on (BOOTH avatars specifically they didnt add directions)
Glad I found your channel. Your tutorials are straight to the point and easy to follow :) Makes avatar creation a whole lot less intimidating. Keep up the good work!
Quick question: I noticed that after you finished making the on/off animations and moved onto layers and parameters, the copy of your avatar is gone on the left side of the screen. do I need to delete the copy of mine or is it fine if it stays?
It should be fine if it stays, but you won't need it after you're done using your "test avatar". The duplicate is solely there so you don't accidentally break your avatar while making animations.
I followed 100% on the dot and did everything correctly however the toggle doesnt appear. In game, i see the toggle name and i can press it and it shows that its enabled and disabled, however the prop itself does not appear
(EDIT I FIXED IT) Yeah I'm having the same problem... [pt2] I went into the original model (after deleting the duplicate) and re-checked the box to disable the prop in the inspector!!
something i'm trying to figure out atm is how to toggle my avatar so some of these are off by default for other players; surprisingly -- unless I'm fully enabled for people off the bat -- i've been told that persistent sounds have actually gone through. it took me until today to realize that I should've adjusted those myself. I'm going to look for other tutorials and ways it works, but this is really good and helpful otherwise :)
Love this tutorial! Super helpful for sure! But if I may ask; other than having it as a backup, what's the reason for duplicating the model? Sorry if that's a dumb question, but I was just wanting to understand better. Thanky you so so so much!
When i upload the "finished" duplicated avatar, it puts it into the bicycle pose. I though that maybe i'd uploaded the wrong avatar so i uploaded the original which fixed the stance issue, but now the toggles dont work for the prop. Anyone have any ideas on how to get rid of the bicycle pose on the duplicated avatar?
Oh, anyone who's having trouble getting the textures to be included when exporting the fbx -- try making sure your model is VRM 0.0, not VRM 1. That worked for me.
hey bro. great tutorial and my halo infinite MA40 AR will be looking good on my spartan. now i gotta redo that 6 more times for different weapons! thank you :)

also as this isnt specified in the video before you upload the avatar make sure to delete your duplicate model, dont worry everything transfers over to the current one
Delete the Duplicate as in the old one or the new one?
What’s the point of having a duplicate model
animating on a main model causes irreversible damage and has you stuck in the bind pose
but even if you make a duplicate model, use it and then delete it, the oringal model goes into the bind pose

Found out the issue the issue is your object has an animator attached just remove it and your good posting it so others can find it.
