Is it possible to install these wrong, for example the top and bottom clip could match the way they look or be opposite where the clip bends when placing pad
I suspect the rubber pads go on the top on the front brakes, and on the bottom on the rear brakes. That way, the rubber pads get compressed only when braking while backing up.
I suspect this is to make up for any sort of gap along the rotation. I have a 2006 Jetta and my pads clank when switching from going backwards or forwards and I bet the rubber pad would help. As to where they go I guess it depends if you want the clank when you’re switching from going backwards or forwards 😂 Thanks for sharing nonetheless!
I have a set of Bosch brake pads and similar clips. None of the rubber pads are attached to anything. According to your video they should be on the back of the double spring clips. Do I need to glue them onto the back of the clip, or will lubricant hold them on. I contacted bosch, and they were of no help with this.
Was curious about those clips. Bought front brake kit for my 02 Dakota came with ceramic pads with rotors from detroit axle it came with 16 of those clips. Question Do trucks have 8 clips on each caliper instead of 4 clips per caliper which is for car. Truck I have is my first truck changing my brakes this weekend an was curious about them. Like why did my brake kit come with 16 instead of 8 clips.
Thank you for this video i'm doing brake pads on my 1997 Camry i have got the same kind of hardware i thought it is the wrong one but watching your video saved me.again thank you so much.
It did not used to have those extra spring on the upper clips. Now for my sienna the pads wont go in there. The pads are longer than the space available. I had to use my old ones that didn't that have that spring.
Why are you calling these guide clips? They reduce friction when you aren't applying the brake! The actual term is 'ABUTMENT CLIP'. They help push the pads back from the rotor to reduce drag and allow for less wear on the pads and rotors. There's info all over the Internet about this!

This video saved my bacon. Received new Wagner pads with the same type of clips, and no instructions. Thank you!

Hi Jay, are you sure that the guide clips help push the pads back? I just installed clips and can't figure out how they can push pads back. Cheers
thank you so much! This is exactly what I needed.
Thanks for the video!
