When I was like 6 I used to live next to this really old man and I would see him bring his out and it was kinda sad. Almost like he used to play it with his kids or something.
It's not too badly damaged, the guy should be able to stick the bits back together with it looking like styrofoam. In the 60's and 70's when those model aircraft came down you knew about it with bits shattering everywhere but still, the modellers would simply repair the damaged parts for newly crafted parts. That said in those days the modellers built the planes from scratch following a detailed plan for every part, the wing structure would be like a skeleton until it had it's wing membrane ironed onto the frame joists. I remember listening to my uncle when he tried to sell some of his old model planes near on 50 years later and being told that the pilots of today want an instant plane ready to fly, they're not interested in learning the aerodynamics involved in creating a plane from scratch so his planes didn't sell. So on that basis....Yes the guys damaged plane in the video will probably never fly again.
I flew RC back in the 80s and 90s, and with the exception of one aircraft I built them all from balsa, and Monocote. I even modified a few. Without understanding aerodynamics, weight and balance, wing loading, etc., I couldn't have done that. It's ironic now that I'm dipping my toes back into the hobby again, all I can find are foam airplanes. Heck, Tower Hobbies doesn't even sell kits any more.
You don't need to understand aerodynamics to build a model plane. The plansa are very detailed. I used to love putting balsa planes together. Never really liked the foam planes, due to being manhandled too easily by the slightest of breezes. I really miss the smell of nitro burning in the morning. And I am currently building another balsa plane, so yes some people still like putting them together.

It will save you money and a trip to the hobby shop)

Flying a high speed model, in an area with brush and static objects above ground level, in a highly congested airspace? This was a bad idea. High speed passes over spectators heads and within close proximity of static objects?? That's a recipe for disaster. Don't fly in conditions like this. It is, the EDFs do make a pretty cool sound. If your new to rc then I would 100% recommend that you don’t fly a jet as your first plane. Anyone who has been in the hobby for some time will most likely tell you the same thing

As much as I want to fly toys like these & move on to larger scales an more advanced. Even this 500$ wreck creeps me out. Is there such a plane that's so durable like nerf foam that beginners like me could practice with. Without going broke at start?
Yes, this is a fast, hard to handle jet. Most rc planes are much more forgiving !
Someone needs to practice landing, he was coming in way too fast.
Well being a rc pilot myself, shit happens especially when you're not flying at a Airfield and you got to narrow Runway. But some people don't want to join AMA and fly off dirt roads lol.
This is madness.... Glad i have my own place to fly that is low traffic, i wouldnt want to worry about that many aircraft at once....
Fly together die together .
@Pedro Sanchez you must fly foamies. Thats cool but when you step it up to gas then things get a little more scary.
@@dudebroski9460 we are assembling quite a few planes right now over the winter ! Definitely some combustion engines and wood combos ! Few foamies with engines too ! Needles to say , we've got to maiden quite a few rigs this spring so stay tuned ! We do have a video on some of our other planes on here too !
@@kristopherketchum1902 i wonder what ever happened to pedro.... Lol.
@@dudebroski9460 haha ! Didn't see the pedro tag at first LoL !
How about one of the top secret hypersonic orbital vehicles we have ?
How cool would it be to have one of those at dusk, just the right amount of light and camera angle, have it look real
Should only fly crop dusters in the area.🤣
🤣😂🤣😂
lol
Glad to see the guy in yellow finally beat Anorexia!
Reading this entire group getting roasted in the comments was more entertaining.
Thank you sir ! We are enjoying it too !
Let's throw another foamie on the barbie!!!!
Me: "Look how fast and graceful this jet is! It looks too fast to fly!"
Bird: "I think I will fly up and swoop it and do circles around it!"
Me: "Damn you mother nature, you showoff!"
Idiot gonna hurt someone. He’d be kicked out immediately where I fly.
He needs to take up stamp collecting. A mate of mine does and he has often dropped a stamp book without any damage
This is why we have proper facilities.propper runways and we r covered by insurance if something happens if we damaged someone's property.this is just silliness.
Any flying video posted of that C-130 with Coast Guard markings?
Was a stupid flight. He was flying to fast all the flight. Put in risk the people there. Why is coming so fast to the landing??!!! Maybe have some problem with the left stick of the radio.
I quit flying “rouge” years ago, for AMA fields. High grass/tall field vegetation, road signs, street lights, soccer goal posts .. bad idea. Ask me how I know.
How about toning down on the drone noise..how can you even concentrate with all that buzzing around🤔
Criss crossing where the pilots are standing is very sketchy. Flying over a corn field is sketchy too. You go down could take hours to find it if you’re lucky. Unless you have a locator attached.
Hot glue, epoxy and patience you'll be good to go!
I dub your call sign..”corn stalk”… lmao
Thts wrong place to be flying a jet not smart at all🤔
Thanks man ! Love to hear your opinion .
I’d be comfortable flying a jet like that from that location
Unlucky guys we all been their unfortunately haha. Looks a good flying crew 🙌🏼🙌🏼👊🏼
Hot landing. Need to slow down with flaps on approach?
@4:17 that was so cool, idk if it was just because it flew through a cloud but being so far away made it look like it broke the speed sound barrier
Karma. Dangerous flying with complete disregard for the safety of the other pilots in the pitts.
Well it's not an actual flying field so if they don't like having someone buzz over their head at 70mph they can just leave.
😉
Yeah clearly the 3 fixed wing pilots we had out have been flying together for a long time. We know each others flying capabilities and pay attention accordingly
@@matthewbalkema792 how does that help if theres an unforeseen problem? High speed low passes are EXACTLY when a problem is most likely to occur.
A catastrophic failure at low level pointed in a safe direction never hurt anyone.
Lose a servo horn or radio glitch loss of a control surface due to flutter while aimed at the back of a guys head and at the very least you spend the rest of the afternoon sitting in hard plastic chairs of the ER trying to figure out what to tell your wives so they will let you play together again someday.
“Pilots”
The guys AMA dislike.
Hey mate, 👋 which battery pack ur used? More then 5 minuts air time is just great.
Dit you manage repair this beautifull plane? I have serveral rc planes but no impellor, it may be this one, very nice plane.👍
The way he's on his knees almost in tears is absolutely tradgic
Came in a bit hot my friend. Everything was lining up perfect should have cut power flared a bit more. Hey it's happen to the best of us including myself. You were dealing with a bit of wind and the corn stalks on each side as well. I try to stay in big fields if possible to allow for adjustments. It's an expensive hobby but we'll worth it. I will be glad when they start making some nice vtol style aircraft or some equipped with GPS and automatic landing. We definitely have the technology to do it just nothing like that on the market yet. How cool would that be to push a return to home like on a drone and it lands itself.
For some reason there are some very unrealistic people in this comment section that do not realize that RC clubs, and locations are in short supply. The nearest one from me is over 40 minutes away. The guys in this video look like they're practically in the middle of nowhere, they're fine. I agree the pilot is going a little fast in a tight spot, but I'm sure everyone there knew the risks. I fly my fully custom 6ft wide pusher plane in my backyard because I literally can't even transport it in my car. Just be happy there's people even in the hobby. It was an unfortunate crash, but we've all had ours.
Jonathon Hebert - let's be friends haha !!!
40 minutes isn't that bad try two hours and no guarantee the condition will be favorable
And yea these younger guys obviously have the money to go out and buy another, if you are building it you would be a lot more cautious
That was not that bad. Great thing about foamies, a little glue and maybe some bamboo skewers and she's ready to go. We always had epoxy and other gear for field repairs. You've not flown enough if you've never crashed. At least it wasn't a balsa kit, do they even make those anymore?
It won't look "NEW" but you can repair that and it will be strong and look really good.
Question. Btw great flying. We’re you flying line of sight or fpv. B/c it looked like a spec.
Later when the farmer sees miniature plane parts in his combine:
“What in tiny aviation?”
I got that! pretty good
Sounded like the rubber band came unwound
Sorry to see the crash landing, such a nice jet. Not "destroyed" by a long shot. Some glue and paint and she'll fly like new. Next time I suggest finding a more open landing site, so it's not the end of the world if you go off runway.
Haha yep ! The front landing gear was damaged Christian the owner was pretty upset but debating on what plane to get next so I think he'll be alright lol ! We have permission to fly in this section of fields but we completely agree , next time we won't land the jet between two rows of corn LoL !
Way to hot for landing, lesson learned hopefully. Good luck and happy flying
The jet with the drones sounds so badass. And watching them bank together... so cool.
Thank you sir 🙏
Got the weird feeling I was watching independents Day during the video.
F,18 did you locate the black box?
Mans greatest achievement was flight but you have to learn to land first
If you are able to land your thing, only THEN you can fly.
@@ab3rsur314 But don't you have to fly before you can land?
@@Thunderbyrd. technically the truth. Good one.😅 yeeees you are right, but you know what I mean.
The children of the corn reached out and grabbed it
When the guy has learnt how to fly that damm thing but skipped the landing class
coming down is the hardest part haha !
@@kristopherketchum1902 coming down is easy, coming down gently not so much.
This plane has flaps and will come in at a manageable speed with high alpha attitude, what a waste of a beautiful jet!!
@@chernandez109ch this plane has flaps and CAN come down manage ably......just not this time....
@@kristopherketchum1902 Takes guts to try to land an EDF on that narrow road near all that corn and trees! Oh well at least looked repairable!
5:29 this is where it crash landed
Actually disappointed one of the drones didn’t take it out 😂
When I was like 6 I used to live next to this really old man and I would see him bring his out and it was kinda sad. Almost like he used to play it with his kids or something.
The walk of shame begins around the 5:30 mark. We have all been there.
I haven’t ,but I’m not a total moron like this bunch of pricks.
No way I could focus on flying with all those mosquito sounding quadcopters flying around. Those are cool craft but I cannot stand the sound of them
It's not too badly damaged, the guy should be able to stick the bits back together with it looking like styrofoam.
Please , just do what Simon says !
@@pawpawstew I am flying a highly modified Kadet Sr. that has been flying for 22yrs. It has been crashed and repaired several times but continues to be my favorite all around flier. Show me a foamie that has anything near this useable life.
@@Warpig0321 I think what this dude is saying is that it's also about fixing (and learning to modify) the planes once you break them, it was a pretty long winded point but it's still valid. He wasn't saying Styrofoam planes are junk, it's just that you don't necessarily have to put it back the same as it was for it to fly, have some fun w it
The old way is and was fairly expensive and hard, so you have to modify the plane within your skill and budget (you can make custom Styrofoam parts, all you need is a sharp knife or razor blade. It will save you money and a trip to the hobby shop)
Jets have flaps for a reason!!!!! Way too hot on approach!!!! Good luck with the next one!!
So, one thing that you NEVER DO.... fly a damn rc plane or helicopter DIRECTLY OVER SPECTATORS, INDIVIDUALS, OR TRAFFIC.
I can't believe how dangerous this fool is flying that f-18.
That's what makes this video entertaining.
I actually thought the Black Birds (?) were going to be your down fall..(I was attacked in a 50 ft wing span sailplane over Minden, Nevada once at 9'000 feet).
Flying a high speed model, in an area with brush and static objects above ground level, in a highly congested airspace? This was a bad idea. High speed passes over spectators heads and within close proximity of static objects?? That's a recipe for disaster. Don't fly in conditions like this. Fortunately no one was hurt, but it WILL eventually happen if you keep flying like this. Too many things to go wrong very quickly. I've seen people get hurt in better conditions. Keep it safe. 🤙
First comment ive seen about flying over heads, huge no no. This is what happens when people go to the hobby store and buy shit without any knowledge or research. Seen planes take out rvs, fingers hands, god forbid if one ever hit a person.
Nice jet! That thing reminds me of the real one in a lot of ways, I spent years around them.
I'm assuming that F-18 is electric? It's got a distinct sound I've never heard of before, so that's what has me questioning. Cool RC though, I'm gonna look for one now.
It is, the EDFs do make a pretty cool sound. If your new to rc then I would 100% recommend that you don’t fly a jet as your first plane. Anyone who has been in the hobby for some time will most likely tell you the same thing
Powered by corn.
2 yrs later:
"Wonder what that grey chip was in my cornflakes" .. 🧐
I wouldnt say it was destroyed in seconds, it was flying about for quite a while. The actual crash took less than a second to damage it, and it wasnt actually destroyed either, broken nose and some other bits, didnt look that bad, foam glues back together.
Sounds just like a big jet, but it’s only 2 feet long! So cool!
When you finally kill that annoying mosquito
He didn't give that part any thought prior. Mindsets like that cause unwanted pregnancies too lmao
When you see the title and then check length of the video because you’ve been clickbaited before and know your getting clickbaited right now but you you watch the whole damn thing anyway, yep it’s your fault.
Tough break...did you get it repaired?
I couldn't believe how fast those drones are!
This title should’ve been “airplane crash in 300 seconds” 🤣
I'm still trying to work out why you'd choose to take off and land a fast model on a road surrounded by corn fields.
Just to see if we could !
@@kristopherketchum1902 Well, you can't.
@@bmpowellicio Couldn't not can't haha ! Practice makes perfect !
@@kristopherketchum1902 Shouldn't is the word you're searching for. FAI World Champion Phil Kraft once said that you should never try to land a model plane in a space smaller than a full-sized Bell Jet-Ranger would need. Forget that you're flying a small plane, its the wiggle room either side of it that matters.
That looks like a really, really stupid location to try to land your missile.
Are we not going to talk about how bonkers fast those drones are!

in 1987 while training in 29 palms my squadron had the rather dubious honor of being the first Marine Corps squadron to successfully deploy the ejection seat... My XO was piloting his Hornet with full ordinance onboard... loaded with 500 plb bombs he lit the afterburners to get off the ground.. The center-line fuel tank did not have the fuel cap properly secured and a Lucky grunt at the end of the runway got a picture as a giant fireball exploded beneath the plane... sure wish I still had a copy of that picture it was a rare one... Our XO got a fire warning indicator.. He could not punch out because he was still over the runway, full fuel bladders to his left, live bombs on the tarmack to his right, with a cool had on the stick he road the plan down until he was at about 100 feet and past the end of the runway. Once in the clear.. in his own words.. " I got clear so I jettisoned the fuel tank, it was still going down so I jettisoned the ordinance, it was still going down so I jettisoned the airplane... Your escapades brought this memory back... thank you its a good memory.. You might be gratified to know there was alot more of your aircraft left then our XO's

That happend to everyone of us at the beginning. Title change: "When you are lazy to find secure runway for EDF jet... " 😀 That 10-30 minutes of more drive can cost you half a day of repairing or also the whole model... 🙂 Everyone learns... 🙂
Those foam flyers glue back together very good. Make sure to balance again after your repairs and your good to go
