YES YES! Got a bunch of clanrats, weapon teams and rat ogres based up for old world so this gets my inspiration going! Good tip with the superglue on the balsa, i was afraid for the durability of the build. Almost like the wood breaks from the weight of the plastic!
Just imagining the little skaven engineers looking on in horror as their battle wagon caught fire for literally no reason (they dont understand chemical reactions) Its a horrible day for them
@@EricsHobbyWorkshop One of the latest videos of the channel Night Shift he actually found that it's easier to use some kind of plastic 'weathered' (I'm not sure of the proper word here) with a wire brush to make wooden boards than to actually use balsawood despite he's been using it since years if not decades.
Man, i like your take on it more than the actual kit. Nothing looks better than wood than wood itself. It's not over engineered or overloaded with details.
I’m a total sucker for the titan build, but ignoring that gorgeous Sisyphean task this project is one of my favourites you’ve done. Brilliant work, I love seeing Skaven!!
I really like add small metal pins (like for sewing purposes) into the balsa wood when gluing together. Then cut off excess pin. It makes the impression of nails and also add more structure to gluing :)
Eric this is fantastic! I love watching your channel because your creativity is amazing. I don't know if you appreciate how great it can be to watch. You seem so casual about your design decisions and the aesthetic you bring to each project. It is inspiring (and a little intimidating) how easy you make this look. I LOVE watching what you make. When I try my brain gets vapor-locked, it truly is watching art brought to life. Thank you for sharing with us
As an Org Chem major, that "weird reaction" you mentioned is the cyanoacrylate polymerizing which is how all superglue hardens, as for the smoke its either just that, smoke, or it might be vaporizing some of the glue which you sometimes se, especially when using an accelerator!
I'm so glad your channel is doing so well Eric. I've watched you for the past three years and It's always refreshing to see how unrestricted your thinking is relating to the hobby, and It's nice to see how far along you've come with the video production and editing of things. I hope you continue to do well in both and I look forward to watching it!
I’ve been avoiding watching mini videos and a lot of the hobby as a whole due to some personal stuff. Thank you for helping me yearn for what I used to with my minis. All glory be to The Great Horned Rat!
yes yes, would love to se more skaven on the channel. Also i really liked what you said about the different stages of painting, it is how it looks in the end that is important not how it looks during the painting process.
This was so freaking cool. I am continuously amazed with your ability to built models and terrain out of seemingly random piles of stuff. Thanks for making some of the most epic this hobby has ever seen.
I did basically the same with the Dakkajet kit, some basically plane-shaped toys get all the gubbins glued all over them with a spare ork boy for a pilot and boom, three flyers for one kit. It's fun to have unique versions of the units too
You and goobs have both given me so much inspiration for quick and effective ways to change monopose figures into a stronger array of weird little lads! Thanks!
This is so cool! After I saw your Reel for this on Instagram I actually bought one of these kits and wanted to attempt the same thing! Thanks for the full video, love your stuff 🔔🐀
Awesome build! Also, if you (or others) do more balsa wood builds, I'd recommend using some flat head pins - add some structural integrity and rivets/nails in one step!
the brazier you used for the monk's staff was part of the leader model of the old Isle of Blood box that introduced the new Skaven and High Elves back in 2010
I’m gonna be starting a Skaven force when 4e comes out since a buddy wants to start Stormcast. So we’re gonna split the starter box. Love this model and will most likely nab one to go with them.
Awesome video Eric, love to see some Skaven love around here, I'd be very interested to see and know more about the Skaven army you're preparing so... Feel free do to another Skaven video yes-yes !!!
This couldn’t have come at a better time. I’m getting ready to build the bell this weekend and didn’t know what to do with the extra bits. Yes yes would love more rats yes.
That is a great piece of work. Well done, sir! Also, complete agreement on the "business" of the models. I find myself spending a lot of time simplifying GW models these days. Trovarion has a good video up about this problem.
Looks great. Could also be fun to use some finishing nails to assemble it along with the glue, since they'd look like large stakes/spikes at this scale. Could clip the sides of the head to make them look square too.
I've been long planning to scratch-build a Screaming Bell, with a cheap Christmas ornament for the actual bell. These are good tips for getting on with that project. :)
This is bonkers! Absolutely amazing! I love getting extra from my expensive GW Kits, and evwnthough i only play 40k, this is just an epic example of that 👌
Awesome build! One thing I would suggest adding is some type of top caps for the two vertical posts. It will act like a cherry on top, and will keep the skavenblight rain from rotting away your posts.
Good use of the kit! I used the censor as a rotating trap in a scenery piece but now wish i didnt xD. More skaven videos would be nice btw, i think this summer we will see a lot more new skaven players in need of inspiration.
GW does this with most of their kits, they give you one full and half the other options, to "force" you to buy another one. But modelers are always one step forward. Kudos to you Eric for another great build.
Reminds me of early versions of the screaming bell, skaven carpentry at its best. I like the plague monk with scroll and brazier.. clearly enjoying himself. The only thing I'd change is the Skaven symbol at the front, it seems to blend in too much, a nice rusty metal one cobbled from plasticard is more me, boldly announcing the arrival of the verminous tide. Great work, look forward to seeing your Skaven.
I think you should be proud of this conversion; it looks amazing! Reminds me of my Ork vehicle conversions over the last couple years. Except instead of one kit two models, I'm taking two models and mashing them into one lol.
Reply yes yes to this comment if you wanna see more Skaven on this channel

yes yes man thing
Ratmen? Under our city? Absurd! (But yes.)
Hell yes yes!!!
Let's be honest, a model catching fire during construction would be totally on-brand for the Skaven.
Just imagining the little skaven engineers looking on in horror as their battle wagon caught fire for literally no reason (they dont understand chemical reactions)
Its a horrible day for them
Two kit builds in one box container Yes yes!
I love all the little "hell yeah" "sick as hell" and "nice" quips throughout this. 😁
I honestly love them too
Before I remembered warpstone existed, I definitely thought you were going to do the one-foot-up guy standing on a piece of cheese.
Same. I was also thinking "can't believe this dude is actually giving skaven cheese
A wire bristle brush is also a good way to go for achieving scale wood grain texture when working with balsa wood. A little less fiddly, too.
I find it more fiddly tbh, it makes all these splintery burrs everywhere and fhe texture is not very deep

This one, I think.

Great work and I think it's really cool that you bring awareness to mental health resources!
I appreciate the green backlight to be on theme, subtle and appropriate yes yes
That was just my warpstone hoard, I don’t like to let it out of my sight for too long
Very good choice indeed!
Yes yes!
This is peak Warhammer. Much creativity, yes yes.

The flavor of skaven warpstone magic is sour green apple
My favorite sour candy flavor.
I laughed audibly when you mentioned the CVS receipts. I think CVS is single-handedly keeping the receipt paper cartel in business.
Safeway receipts used to be like that as well until they had all of their coupons be digital only.
I really like add small metal pins (like for sewing purposes) into the balsa wood when gluing together. Then cut off excess pin. It makes the impression of nails and also add more structure to gluing :)
This is awesome man, good job. Came here for the terrain vids, stayed for the creativity in everything you touch

I feel the same! You said it best!
This is such an exceptional conversion. Great job as ever
Yes Eric you built it with a medieval/fantasy version of a lift axle yes yes yes, great work, love watching your vids
skaven skaven yes yes
Was feeling a bit sad, but this 🔥 of a video came, and helped me look past the gloom of today's worries. Totally would like to see your skaven army

Yes yes, Erics does do it again. Magnificent work creation, yes yes
Been watching quite a long time. And I have to say you truly have become a master of Crafting outstanding work!
Yes yes yes, we want more skaven inventions.... Great job by the way, this will be my next DIY project.

Fantastic build, the process is super enjoyable to watch, and yours looks just so much more "skaven-y" and wonky! Great details!

You and goobs have both given me so much inspiration for quick and effective ways to change monopose figures into a stronger array of weird little lads! Thanks!
That is one wild build you did there from "left over parts". Love the idea of the Plague rats
Love the detailing on the wheels, really helps give a sense of scale and heft to the peice.
Bro, another home run!
Damn Ive been considering starting a Skaven army and this seals the deal. Awesome work!
This is so cool! After I saw your Reel for this on Instagram I actually bought one of these kits and wanted to attempt the same thing! Thanks for the full video, love your stuff 🔔🐀
Your ingenuity and creativity are top notch. Fantastic video, man! What you made is incredible, thanks for sharing!
This was fantastic. I hope to see more skaven projects in the future 🤩
Absolutely phenomenal bit of kitbash o/
Your are the best craftman on earth !!! Thks for all your vidéos!!
I definitely like the contrast between the elaborate design of the GW model and your choice of a more minimalist and utilitarian wagon, super cool!
I'm sure others have said this before me, but DAMN! I think that's better than the GW kit.
This is sensational! Truly one of the best builds I've seen in a long time.
Awesome build! Also, if you (or others) do more balsa wood builds, I'd recommend using some flat head pins - add some structural integrity and rivets/nails in one step!
the brazier you used for the monk's staff was part of the leader model of the old Isle of Blood box that introduced the new Skaven and High Elves back in 2010
I did this about ten years ago and they turned out great!
I think something that would contribute to the skaven-made vibe and add a touch of detail would be making the thicknesses of each wooden plank vary
That looks epic yes yes! Definitely interested in seeing more Skaven on the channel.
Really loving the build!!!! Would love to see more Skaven😊
This is really awesome, Eric! I, for one, would love to see more Skaven content!
Love the simple wood look
I wouldn't know a skaven from a veermyn, but that model is absolutely well done! Great work, sir.

Your builds are inspiring, freakin awsom yo
You can harden balsawood with varnish. Just thin it down and give it several going overs.
Fantastic kitbash and lovely painting!
Spectacular result - the looks fit perfectly with the GW stuff, so you could be fooled that it isnt a plastic kit!
This is such an awesome scratchbuild I can barely believe it
THIS is the kind of wargaming video we need these days, getting the most out of expensive kits is great 😎🤙
This is such a great build! I will definitely be taking inspiration from this!
Perfectly timed to push me over the edge when I see the new Skaven refresh for more TOW models.
CVS receipts! They were great back when TP was in short supply during lockdown. AWESOME work on the model, btw.
Dude congratulations this is one of the most cursed comments i have ever received 😂
This was an awesome project! I also love your passion. Good stuff, as always!
Nice video! 🍻A handy hand tool to own for modeling is a rotary hole punch for leather working. Very good for making circles.👍

Go for it! Ive always thought the 6th ed style bell looks awesome with the more “overhand” look if that makes sense
@@EricsHobbyWorkshop It kinda resembles a gallows on wheels, which is a look I'd want to achieve. Maybe I could add a gibbet to it?

Looks Brilliant! This is exactly how to maximise your hobby dollars & end up with something really cool & unique. Great video.
Would love to see more Skaven. Model turned out great, I like it more than the GW one for the reasons you stated as well.
SOOOO gorgeous!!! Great job man, you always do such beautiful work, but this is just a masterpiece!
