Wow! This is incredible, Eric. I love the Western genre and you definitely nailed it. Although, I would have liked to see more antennas and wires and maybe a bigfoot or two.
Eric as a benevolent sky deity looking to the camera at the end, creeped me out and made me smile all at once. Just take the town but please let the women and children go!
I like how an old West town resembles a Necromunda settlement. Similarities: built from scratch, crowded, everyone carries what the own and a gun, same industries: trading posts, slop houses, bank, saloon, brothels, drug dens. Differences: no wall around the town, shanties buildings above the shops.
@@tethys17 Yep, Legends of the Old West, which is based on the original version of their Lord of the Rings game except even more customizable. There's 4 books in total, though I only have three of them that I managed to get, the last one was barely out when GW terminated their historical games division and then their original Specialist Games stuff and unlike the Specialist Games stuff, they didn't put it up for free on their site like they did with most of the rest for years.
This wide range of projects is part of why I love this channel ❤. At some point the need to watch just another painting tutorial isn't really there anymore, but your stuff manages to surprise me again and again 😊
Now you need a miniature Delorean with Doc, Marty, and Claire. Maybe throw in Marshal Dillon, Festus, and Miss Kitty. Ben Cartwright, his sons, and Seth MacFarlane. Oh yeah, Clint Eastwood, too.
I love your videos man every time you make a set piece like this it reminds me of when I was younger looking through model catalogues in awe at the scenes they'd make to show off their models.
I know it's not a competition, but Eric, you are easily my favourite hobby person on youtube. I love the way you put together your videos and the narration, it shows that you clearly have a love of lore and the art of storytelling, that you pay attention to details and that most of what you build is from scratch or using repurposed stuff. I feel more inspired seeing what you are up to and it gets me really excited to work on my own projects!
Amazing terrain pieces mate. Would love to see you post a video playing Dead by Lead. Its a great game with amazing mechanics, but it doesn't see to be getting a lot of love. We think its great.
How come your videos are always so well timed in accordance with my interest sprees? I have just recently been diving into a bunch of western films, and when your ww1 inspired trench board video came out I had just been researching that very thing! It's getting eerie hahaha, but I really appriciate the history you fit into these projects. Great work!
Epic build! I really like the creative use of some printed parts on the buildings but keeping the buildings themselves very easy to make with basic parts!
Dammit man! This is why I support you on Patreon. You just kill it in every video build. The variety of builds is fantastic, and I honestly think you're the first RUclipsr terrain builder (that I follow, at least) that has done any Western themed terrain. So SWEEEEET! I'll definitely be taking some of these tips to my own table! I've got a few buildings already partly built, but struggled with the paint schemes. Love how you've done yours, and it has once again inspired me. Keep it up!
All your crafting videos make made my day Eric you are doing a nice job. Not just for the creativity crafting stuff but literally the channel itself its almost therapeutic for the viewer also! Thanks man!
Buy a box of Dead mans hand cowboys for $15 you get 12 cowboy heads and loads of accessories. You can kitbash a cowboy chapter of space marines. As far as I can remember theres no official cowboy chapter. There seems to be every thing else though from vampires to pirates.
Boylei hobby time has really made me love western builds. These look great. DEAD BY LEAD is an exceptional name. The flaws system reminds me a little of Necromunda but really makes me think of Shadowrun. I gave my character a chip habit for some extra stay points but the trade off was I'd have to indulge sometimes in the middle of a mission or risk a negative effect from withdrawal.
Dude, I can't stop marveling at your creativity, both in the build and in the highly entertaining way you put together your videos. I wish I could have looked longer at the finished town... and wandered through it, with my guns and horse.
I've been playing a LOT of HUNT: SHOWDOWN and this episode makes me REALLY want to build a board for a game of that on the table top! I'll try Dead by lead for the rules ;) Additionally, as i said ion another of your videos im making a wildwesty orlock gang and town! This is perfect for it!!
really inspring video of how to deal with the topic of "old and modern ways" of hobbying! I feel like you made a real good choice with implementing the 3D printing in your builds and still kept your signature of handcraftet terrain. Good to see that there is not always the fight going on about staying true to the "right ways of hobbying and crafting" and just using the best of both worlds to create even better stuff!
I love Boylei's WWW town so much... probably because his was the first I ever saw and I've been following his from the beginning...but yours is a super close second 😍 I just love the theme. There are unlimited ways you can make it look, but no matter how you do it, everyone will recognize the Wild Wild West immediately.
In a video full of excellent building ideas and great details, I found the trick of gluing the barrels to the fences to be such an "ah hah!" moment. What a clever way to give them modularity and stability!
I LOVE THIS VIDEO!!!! I like that you show your process of how you go about making and thinking up different ways to use particular objects. There are not enough videos that show miniatures! Do you have any recommendations of books that might also be good for someone wanting to get into making miniatures?
Love the work and details you put in, especially the bit on how the old architecture was like. I’ve been doing some western town design in a sandbox game I play so this was definitely a great help with what typa architecture would fit the western vibe :>
Hey Eric have you ever heard of LOTOW? It was one of Warhammer Historical's last project, Legends of the Old West. It used the original Lord of The Rings rules as a foundation so you could play with both historical shootists in historical/ahistorical match-ups as well as the standard /yourguy/ gang of outlaws, lawmen, cavalry, natives, etc, like Necromunda or Mordheim but with more yeehaws and beans. The pdf's are up floating around, and it has an archive list on BattleScribe for list building too.
Love this! As I am looking to make my own buildings, I am curious as to wear you got the files for the 3d print stuff? Would love to try and utilize those as well. Awesome job and a great inspiration!!!
Great video, and awesome buildings! If I remember right, the first movie ever made was a western called "The Great Train Robbery." Lacking western actors, they simply went out and found real cowboys to fill the roles. I'm a 40K player, but I grew up as a Buckaroo in Nevada and Idaho. Maybe I should branch out/get back to my roots!
My elder brother and one his staff members made a Wild West table for his gaming store over a decade ago. Though they used balsa wood instead of chipboard and bass wood for the wood framing, and paper pins for the railings.
Great Build! While you are 3D printing you could print up some water troughs and some hitching posts for the street sides. It would fill out the street and they can be moved around to block line of sight for gameplay if thats something that the rules allows.
Awesome!! Something different. I love it. I am looking to find a Yuotube video of a modular star ship for stargrave and i think it would be cool to see someone as skilled as you making one.
That reminds me of a time I spent the summer with my dad and we went all over the south west going to real ghost towns. Now I have to go dig threw all the old pictures for inspiration.
Ok I wasn’t sold immediately by the intro. However you really made it worth my time. You didn’t go overboard with signs. Old west towns occasionally did, at least from the surviving pictures available. At the same time this has become a feature of Knotts berry farm Calico ghost town several I visited in Arizona and every amusement park old western town out there You have very steady hands . And a good sense for colors keep up the good work
You could use it for WH40K/Kill Team too. One of the original settings in the Rogue Trader book was Wild West in Space planet. Just need to add a bit of grim dark scatter terrain.
In a few week loads of good sticks Will Fall from the sky. They are brilliant for modelbuilding and other crafts. :) just get out early on 1/1-24 and start picking Them up.
Loved the video add some ambient lighting from the insides of the buildings and some furnishings and then some customers in the saloon the hotel etc. Like some people are doing some business in there. Very interesting. How much does that printer cost? Thanks for posting it. Have a great day everyone
I'm always curious after watching these videos. How do you store all the cool models you make? I'd imagine with the amount you have they must take up quite a bit of space. Loved this one a lot! Really cool seeing all the buildings come together :D
Wow! This is incredible, Eric. I love the Western genre and you definitely nailed it. Although, I would have liked to see more antennas and wires and maybe a bigfoot or two.

I was JUST gonna ask if the two of you knew each other! 😍

@13:27 you can hear him blink. Just let us go Eric!
I really dig the way you mix 3d printed elements with your from-scratch stuff. Also, as a Western fan I really need to check this game out!
Great looking table! Cool to see Dead By Lead featured too, great game
