      Still rocking an AH350 Head and 2 cabs, I use a trolley to move them :) WTF happened to graphic EQs? ...Maybe they've decided this generation doesn't have the attention span.

    I'm always amazed how you guys can embelish any bass sound. All the reviews about the Elf until now showed it is a Little 'midrangey' and The tone was not pleasing me. Right now I feel that I really should check it out (where I Live it means buy and maybe sell later)

    Should have read the manual, one of the most important things about the ELF is how the gain know works, while it's green it's just gain, when it gets up to orange it starts to compress, go all the way and it starts to distort (intentionally). This is a huge part of the sound of the amp, shouldn't have missed it. I run it 9/10 on the gain all the time

    I bought a Darkglass M900, then took it back and swapped it for a Mark Bass Ninja, then took that back too. Because my old Trace Elliot AH350 with it's 12 band graphic, has more bottom end and tone shaping than these 4-5 knob kids toys. I wish Trace Elliot (peavy) would get their shit together and re-release one of their classic heads like the AH600smx, that was a bass monster.

    why don't any of these bass amp reviews actually show what happens when you play be amp with a drummer? If you really want to sell me, the best thing to do would just be to set up a pair of stereo condenser mics on one end of the room and a band on the other side of the room. no close micing. Let's see if the amps can cut through the mix. anything can be made to sound good when close-miced or ran direct. But I need real-world applications.... (same with guitar amps)

    I'm looking for a device to replace my brutally old GP11 (which weighs a ton in its oiginal wooden rack). Love the pre-shape-switch on the GP11 and I wish they'd added this one to the ELF as well. Killer feature. Great review though. Maybe I'll give it a try, combined with my Alpha Omega Photon.

    How well does that little 2x8" cab deal with downtuning and/or 5 string basses? @@dickr9345 I'm not, if you think i am, you don't know what you're talking about. lol I'll say it again, you need power to make power, it doesn't matter how efficient something is, especially when it comes to amplifiers. They're probably measuring power consumption incorrectly, or by some other metric, but i guarantee it isn't accurate.

    • @analogaudiorules1724
      @analogaudiorules1724 4 года назад

      @Atheist Hipster I'm not lol, y'all are ignorant, If an amp says it puts a certain amount of continuous wattage out, its power consumption irregardless of how efficient it is SHOULD be a bit higher, you need power to make power, an amp that says it consumes 30w will not put out more then that, even if they say it does.... and if it does, they need to be honest and not be so ignorant as to label things incorrectly, Look at this Quilter bassblock 800 as a proper example "it's actually made in the usa" www.sweetwater.com/store/detail/BB800H--quilter-labs-bass-block-800-800-watt-head it's class D like the elf, it says it's power consumption is 1000w, it's rated to do 800w rms at 4 ohms, obviously, that power consumption figure would be at full output power, as great as this elf amp is, it lies about it's output power. You can't get 200w rms out of 30 dumbass. lol Nothing on the market besides one other brand can touch this Quilter or at least come close to it, the Q in Quilter is actually the Q in qsc as one of the founders of qsc amplification "Patrick Quilter" owns this company, their amplifers are some of the greatest professional amplifiers in the world, they never lie about power figures... obviously if he's designing it, it's a superior product. The only other manufacturer who is close or on par with Quilter and their bassblock series is aguilar and their bassheads, such as their db and tone hammer series, they also don't lie about power consumption or rms power figures, though they're made in china, they still have very high standards compared to everyone else just like Quilter does. lmao.

    • @nothingEvil101
      @nothingEvil101 4 года назад

Aguilar th350 has "450watt" at the same position and it means that the power supply of this amp can be 450W, which is absolutely enough for the 350W power amp. Power consumption is the amount of power consumed from the wall while the amp is delivering 1/8th of it's rated power. This is standard safety rating for musical equipment, since they don't put out full power all the time.

    So, if you ever do a bass guitar/amp/speaker review in the future, play something we recognize and can evaluate by ear. Smoke On The Water, or Day Tripper, or New World Man, or Sunshine Of Your Love, or Ramble On, or Thank You For Lettin Me Be Mice Elf

      Dunno. This comment is not useful nor sensible. They must have played, like, 5 different basses in this video. Importantly, at least one was a Jazz, one a Pbass, and one had humbuckers.... what more could you possible need? It was yet another great video by BassTheWorld.

    Hard to tell how well it holds in a band when the audio is recorded with a mic in front of the cab...next time do it in a real band setting with appropriate volume so it can be seen in a real working context....

    Why do all the bass reviewers play twiddly stuff on the top string. I don't want to know how clever you are at playing solo. I want to know what the Elf sounds like low down. You know, where bass players play in bands.

    Not interested in half-arsed bass stylings on a bewildering array of basses. Fiddle with the amp. Tell us about the speaker and mic etc.

      And way larger. The unique selling point about the Trace Elliot ELF is that is incredibly small for the power it delivers.

      „Better“ is rather subjective. I’d prefer the ELF if I had to choose

    • @Bass.Player

      "Way" is not a word I would use to describe the size difference. Yes it's larger but it has more power, a tuner, tone print and it's cheaper not to mention many other features.
      The elf is not even in the same league unless smaller is a priority and/or 1.6 lbs vs 4.0lbs.
      Value is more important to me, however it is cute!

      Bass Player Of course I'm sure you've tested the ELF extensively and A/B it against the BH250 before stepping all over Trace Elliot's moment to shine on BassTheWorld.
