I came here to check out the amp tbh, didn’t know who Frank was. Once I realized it was $300 I no longer wanted it but I still watched the whole video because Frank is fantastic.
Wonderful video, love these series from Joyo. Bass tube amps definitely deserve more attention. I did a video recently about my rare Italian model that's turning 50 this year, and it has been an absolute joy to use for the past 4 years. The amp's ability to produce such warm and rich tones, regardless of the instrument, is simply amazing. Transistor amps are great too, but they'll never really be my soft spot. Your video really emphasizes how special these amps are. Great work!
I bought one of these this morning and am watching the reviews after my purchase. I have a Joyo Bantamp for guitar already. Very pleased with it. And the Bluetooth sounds great through a big speaker.
It is almost as if I would not believe my own eyes and ears, that such a small amplifier (a loaf of bread is larger) has such a powerful and deep sound.
Completely agree on the effects loop. I would much rather have a DI. But also, who has 4ohm cabinets? The vast majority of bass cabs are 8ohm which means you only get 25w out of this thing. Nearly a year after they released these, I cannot figure out who they're for.
Novice here w a newb question, but can one also connect wireless over ear headphones to this unit? Or is the only way to play along to music steaming from my phone thru this amp is by connecting wired headphones to the back? TYIA
Gregor. Thank you so much for your great reviews. Very clear, concise & interesting. Could you please tell me the brand & model of the blue bass that Frank played in the intro. Thank you in advance & keep up the good work.
The big thing that makes me not consider picking it up is that you can’t record direct off of the amp. No DI out. You might be able to use the “send” into your interface though, as long as it’s post all processing but I’m not sure
I really enjoy your Channel. I was wondering if you could show the joyo matching cabinet. BantCab for Bass, B110, 1 x 10" speaker, 3" tweeter, speaker cabinet, 100 watts/4ohms Thanks Adam
I'm fairly new and I'm just trying to learn to play the bass, I'm not aiming for any band or to get on a stage it's just fun for me at home, I have on of HB's dirt cheap combos but I don' like the sound of it, so I've been using my computer, though an M2 moto and out through a couple of Adam audio 5", but I want to be able to practice without sitting in front of the computer, so I'm looking for decent bass amp and I kinda like the sound of this one, but my big nook question is, what would you pair it with?? just any cheapo 12" cab or??
The "send" from the back could be sent into a di box and then into an interface. That's not too useful though, I would recommend another amp if you're after that.
Not having a recording output is the deal breaker for me. I'm looking for a small bass amp that can go directly into an interface. Something preferably, that does not require a load box.Something with quality IRs in it. The search continues...
you can switch them off, it's just one click at the bottom of the screen (or on the top if you're watching on a phone). You might not need them, but believe me, many non-native english speakers appreciate the effort.
Love the size the output is on the lower side. 50w is fine but at 4ohms it is going to take some work finding a compact 4ohm cab or having one custom built. would actually be cheaper to get a more powerfull head and you can use any 8ohm cab you have laying around. you can get avatar speakers to make you a cab with emenence speakers 2x10 or 1x12 for around 500 shipped to your door Looks like hartke has a 1x12 that is SWITCHABLE between 4 and 8 ohms for around $400. I would actually be interested in seeing a review in a cab like this. Looks like the largest hurdle to inexpensive compact bass rigs is finding 4ohm cabinets so you can get the full output of your head in a small package! some are out there but they are crazy expensive. Modern bass amps can handle 2ohm loads you would think 4ohm cabs would start to become the standard!
Each time you double the wattage you only gain 3db of SPL. So while the search for a 4ohm cab will indeed allow the head to output 50w, you'll gain much more volume by looking for a cabinet which is more efficient (higher sensitity rating on the drivers, more speakers with larger cone size and more Xmax.)
@@Khaospenguiny 3db of SPL is double the volume. Decibels are a logarithmic scale so every time you increase 3db you double the volume. no doubt a shitty 8 ohm cab will be better than a crap 4 ohm cab but all things being equal the 4 ohm cab would be better. Your much more likely to find a crappy 8ohm cab than a 4, 4ohm cabs are usually custom and/or high end wich was my original complaint. I don't think sensitivity is going to be a factor because the 4 ohm cab will get twice the power. you are likely not going to find a 4ohm cab that is less than a few percentage points less efficient than the 8ohm cab. My original complaint is a common complain with MOST bass amps they will advertise the maximum power but in order to get that you have to run 4ohms or sometimes even 2ohms depending on the brand. The problem with trying to run a compact rig on bass is the lack of affordable options for 4ohm cabinets. What is the point of having a lunchbox sized amp if you still need to lug around two cabs to get max output.
If the Bluetooth went out, then it could be routed into P.A. and recording devices, but it’s only Bluetooth in, I’m not even sure what you would want with that? Maybe play along to songs in your phone? But I could easily live without it and would much prefer a direct out. Plus, it’s quarter inch speaker terminals only? I thought everyone had switched to Speak On by now?
I don’t know… calling it a super portable and affordable practice amp, and not showing it used with any other equipment (except the bass guitar), to me gives the impression that it’s a combo amp, with its own speaker(s). Not a word was said about what you’re running it through, or that you were running it through an external speaker system at all. So… hmmm. It’s not what I thought it was. I don’t know what other folks might have thought. Seems pretty misleading.
Let's face it...most of us aren't here to see the gear. We're here for the inspiring Frank. Making bass playing look fun, effortless, enjoyable!
I'm fine with that :)
I came here to check out the amp tbh, didn’t know who Frank was. Once I realized it was $300 I no longer wanted it but I still watched the whole video because Frank is fantastic.
Just got one of these. Definitely better than I expected. I hooked it up to a Revsound 1x8" cab and it sounds very good.
i love how much STANK is involved when Frank is testing out gear.
Yes, absolutely!
Frank is nasty!
Best bassface on the market
Yasssss! It’s called Stank, you’re 100%!
Stanking Right
Take it apart and place it on a rack. It takes the space of 3 units so you can use it as a preamp. I do that with my Joyo Zombie amp. Works a treat.

Frank, is one of my fav bass players on RUclips. Love that first bass line.
Love this little thing....great to see my good friend Frank "keeping it real" and respecting the pocket ! Danke Gregor...gruss aus Kalifornien :)

Finally i'd saw some bassface. Frank so cool. Loved the mini amp.
Ha, on the Stingray clip, the clanky tone sounded like Yes's 'Roundabout' - originally played on a Rickenbacker played by Chris Squire (R.I.P.).
I see Frank in a video thumbnail, I click. That dude has big groove.

That bass face tho!! Stankieee!!
That’s stingray is beautiful 😍
Sounds amazing! So clear and groovy...awesome
Frank has the best bass face!!
Yall should have seen him in the 80's with his band THE TOUCH.
Onboard compressor! I LOVE IT! They need to make a 1000 watt version of this head!
HB already do with the Bass Block 800. Not 1000W but the difference is an inaudible 0.9dB.
Haha Love Frank Itt! One of my favorite BTW members! Awesome riffs!
didn't know the bassist, but bro !!! I'll be back to listen to his grooves and feeling. He rules.
Me encantó ese mini amplificador! Lo necesito! 🤩🤩🤩
Thanks, I was looking for an amp like that and have come across this one online. Was nice to actually hear
I love these videos. Thank you!
Good stuff! Love the T-shirt!
Thank you! your channel is awesome!
Cool little amp. Frank jams! Thanks for video :D
I love these lunch boxes!
Does it have an Internal Speaker? or are you playing it through an outboard cabinet?
Thank you for spreading joy, dear host.
You're welcome, dear viewer 🙂
Your friend should demo equipment for the company's channel, that "bass face" sold me.
I dunno if he does, but he *looks* like digs it a lot!
Like this channel! Please mention the cab you are using. It´s the speakers that make all the difference when it comes to the sound.
I enjoy you my brother keep up the good work. 🙏🏿

Franks Stank Scale should be a judging factor for the level of face bending bass testing brings 😁
can you please do a video showing the setup? like how did you record this video, did you use the bluetooth and record on your phone?
I think we used the headphones out
That's a straight Purchase ! Thanks for the review :)

what is the small bass you showed twice but did not play?
Here you go: ruclips.net/video/UVet5iQB2EI/видео.html
Thanks for the video! A good look at something quite useful
Cool video! What is that little bass in the beginning of video? Where can I get one? Thx!
Nice vid, I like that little amp....! Thank you.......
what brand and model is that small bass guitar at the start of the video?
Does this have to be connected to a speaker to have sound?
Sounded really good. So you recorded that amp direct or from its speakers? Tx
we mic'ed a Glockenklang cab
The big thing that makes me not consider picking it up is that you can’t record direct off of the amp. No DI out. You might be able to use the “send” into your interface though, as long as it’s post all processing but I’m not sure
Does anyone know what kind of fretless Frank is playing? I can't see the kogo clearly.
Here’s a demo ruclips.net/video/rCgi4bycX04/видео.html

Frankie, just keep pullin those car crash facials. Im all in. Keep on keeping on guy. Love your work!
😁
Is this an amp by itself or is this a preamp that works only combined with a bass amp?
Did you use a cab for this video, if so which one?
What's the name of the first bass in the video (blue 5 string with 2 humbuckers)?
Hi, is possible test the Hiwatt Bulldog 77 bass amp? Best regards .Hugo from Chile
Sounds great
Tell us about the upgrades on Frank's Yamaha BBG5S. It sounds great. What pickups? Preamp?
Watch this: ruclips.net/video/5hjNzRAP9vQ/видео.html
I checked it out. That's great, thanks. Those Basstec pickups are good. Frank would probably sound great even with the stock pickups.
Best Bass Face on RUclips
How about the small bass guitar, how can I buy it? and how much?
Hasta la vista great review, i’ll be back 👍
Is this only a bass head or does it have a integrated speaker?
Great review I wanted to grab one of these. What's the make of that tiny bass? I wanna get one for my twin 5 yr olds. Rock on Frank!
Came for the gear, stayed for Frank

Frank needs his own T shirts with various bass faces on them???
Awesome Frank ha ha
Thanks for sharing guys
Paul 14.12 gmt Uk cheers
Working on it!
Can this be used without a speaker?
The "send" from the back could be sent into a di box and then into an interface. That's not too useful though, I would recommend another amp if you're after that.
yes, as a headphone amp
I wonder how 5-strg low B note wld fair on that tiny amp speaker..?
Any test on that?
What cabinet/speaker is used?
Hi, which LS box did you use?
Not having a recording output is the deal breaker for me. I'm looking for a small bass amp that can go directly into an interface. Something preferably, that does not require a load box.Something with quality IRs in it. The search continues...
ART Passive DI box. You can put it in line with the speaker cables (just use the parallel out to the cab). I used to do that with an SVT4.
Can this be used well without an amp, by itself?
Awesome review. Love it !! Just curious what your favorite bass amp is ?
Glockenklang BassArt Classic
Wait... U can use the send to a DI to plug into a PA?!
Of course, that’s what DI outs are for
Nice one!
cool amp. Frank seems to like it.
Is it a battery powered amp?
it's better of roland micro cube rx?
Full disclosure was provided for free?
we don't need the subtitles Gregor, your english is very good
you can switch them off, it's just one click at the bottom of the screen (or on the top if you're watching on a phone). You might not need them, but believe me, many non-native english speakers appreciate the effort.

Good review...you can always just mic the mini Joyo amp for recording.
It is not available via Aliexpress?
😂 That’s cute, I don’t have a cab..can I plug that straight into acab simulation pedal?
I use a little Joyo amp to pratice on. its loud enough for me to hear it but no one else lol
Has anyone tried to play one of these with a drummer?
What's the mini bass you showed as a joke?
Maybe I want a green one like yours

SO FUNKY

I would have sacrificed the Bluetooth for an XLR.
