Thank you for making this video , I am a 52 year old woman and I called a plumber to come out to change out my sink and he did not show up so I saw you video and followed every step and I put in my own sink and faucet all by myself thanks to your video.

I watched your video 3 to 4 times, maybe 5 times. I was able to replace three bathroom sinks and faucets and install new faucet to pedestal bathroom sink. All the sinks had to get new drain pipes too. I have utility tub to replace too. Waiting for order to come in. I waited for plumber but he was no show or response after giving me estimate for two sink replacements. Had sinks and faucets sitting around for a while waiting for plumber. After saw your video, I got enough courage to try it. I read the comments too which were helpful - attach faucet to sink first before putting sink into the counter. Thank you VERY VERY VERY much for making this video and the people who shared tips through their comments. I saved almost $1300 just on labor fees for 5 sinks. I purchased the materials...sinks (not cast iron sinks), faucets, and drain pipes and p traps and waste connectors. So far no leaks on the 4 sinks I did after watching your video.
Can you do a video re how to replace a shower stall faucets (mine are over 40 years old). I am still trying to get a plumber. Thanks.

"Big Al" this is a great video. It helped me install three sinks in the bathrooms. The replaced sinks were 20-plus-year-old cast iron which rusted out, leaking from underneath the return drain -- all within a month of each other! For myself, I've found that hooking up the water lines to the faucet BEFORE you drop in the sink is most helpful. Otherwise you have to squeeze underneath and try to work pliers or a wrench under more difficult circumstances. (Less cussing for my wife to hear.)

I've put in a bunch of sinks for a local good works agency. I've learned (the hard way!) to install as much as possible - hoses, drain, etc - before I put the sink into the hole. If I don't have that opportunity, I tighten the upper nut of the hoses with a basin wrench. Makes it much easier than getting my hand and a wrench into that tight space. For my personal work, I always change out multi-turn valves to quarter-turn angle stops. They seem to hold the ability to shut off much longer. Thanks for a nice job!

You should have caulked on the underside of the sink. It would have been less messy. You could have put on the supply hoses before dropping the sink in place. I'm not a picky butthole but an ex-maintenance man! I also silicone the drain in the bottom of the sink it won't deteriorate over the years like plumbers putty. I put my tailpipe before dropping the sink in its hole.

I really like this video. It's very true to life. It deals with what most of us are going to have to contend with when doing this - basically worn out, seized up pre-historic shit. I hate those videos that have squeaky clean smiley talking heads that tell you how easy something like this is and then proceed to take apart something that's brand new!!!

Thanks for the video. I successfully replaced my drain and faucet. I'd like to point out what I learned during this project:
    1. I replaced a 19" round sink with another 19" round sink. The original sink had clips holding it secure, but the cutout was 18" in diameter, and the replacements sinks all specified the size of hole around 17" I tried to contact someone with no luck. I found out that the size of the cutout is not critical.
    2. The sink instructions has a note"It is recommended that you let the sealant dry for 4 hours before connecting the fittings to the supply lines and the drain. This may cause the bowl to shift from the original position. This may cause the bowl to shift from the original position." I didn't wait, and the bowl shifted, messing up my caulking job.
    3. When I replaced the stopper assembly, it looked like I couldn't get all the plumbers putty off and it just looked yucky. I tried to remove the plumbers putty with a knife, and found out that the problem was that the stopper assembly has a protective layer of thin clear plastic, that you had to remove -- the instructions didn't say anything about this. It's now nice and shiny.
    4. The new faucet had shorter inlet connectors. I replaced the original semi-rigid inlet tubing with flexible tubing wrapped with metal braid.
    5. The drain from the sink was too close to the wall, and I couldn't connect the U-trap. After scratching my head, I pulled out the plastic drain pipe going into the wall, and cut off about 1" with a hack saw -- hooked everything up again, and no leaks -- works perfectly.

I actually just got to it yesterday. Overall it went well thanks to this video, which I used to walk me through it step by step. I had this exact sink and had to remove the clamps underneath without channel locks - forgot to buy them. Doh! But I got it off and installed the new sink with only one extra trip to Home Depot lol. I had tried to re-use some of the drain package components but they were not compatible with the new parts I had bought, so had to buy a whole new drain package, which fit better. I only have a slight drip in the nut area where the pivot ball is that I have to address tomorrow, and the lever is a little tight to pull up and down, but nonetheless the whole project went pretty smoothly! Took me (a true amateur) around 3 hours from start to finish, which I consider a success!
