Old time Fresno fan here. Any time a MW team wins on the road against a Big 10 team, it's a big deal.

@@ahhculdee To expect any MW team to go on the road and win at OSU, well, that’s a stretch. Purdue has a solid team, especially if they can establish their running game. You have nothing to be ashamed of, as this game could have gone either way in the final few minutes.
It's a big win for anyone to win on the road in the Big 10. Except for maybe the top 10 teams in the country.
They played really well. Excited to see them hopefully win the Mountain West!

Probably not.....Fresno will not be in the super league that will be coming .....they will be in the 1B grouping of universities .....many of those teams will be the non factor teams left over after the Big 10 and SEC are done picking them over.

As someone that went to this game knowing that Fresno State was actually a good team I’m surprised at how many people were calling this a easy win

I was at the game. My little red-wearing family surrounded by Purdue fans. I have video of the Dogs coming onto the field and someone next to me making fun of the boys saying, “They didn’t trip on themselves so that is good.” Purdue fans were obviously expecting a cupcake OOC game.
Does it matter if it is an easy win? 99 out of a 100 times they are losing......this is why teams out West who matter...like USC and UCLA are joining the BIG 10 and SEC....the BIG 12 are getting a few and the ACC but they were late to the game and honestly the BIG 10 and SEC are just a bit better overall.....BYU? Houston?.....meh.....nice little schools but soon enough this will morph into two super leagues .....the BIG 10 and the SEC will absorb the best of the BIG 12 and the ACC......the BIG 10 will probably jettison Rutgers.....they don't really meet the standard.....Vanderbilt will probably be kicked down to the league for second tier teams .......so it will be like 1A (BIG 10 and SEC) with the handful of teams who matter from the PAC 12 who have already left basically......USC, Oregon, Washington, UCLA.....others like Stanford ...Cal.....they go to the 1B league....maybe Colorado makes it to 1A...Norte Dame makes it as the only independent ....the Mountain West .....AAC....Conference USA.....Mid American.....Sun Belt.....they are all 1B and maybe they can have some kind of system where if a team wins a certain amount of championships in basketball and football they could move up to 1A. It just makes sense ...West coast teams just don't really matter most of the time when it comes to winning it all or even making money.....like I said .....USC for example is an exception......but .....nobody wants to watch Utah and Gonzaga out East.....watching Michigan, Alabama, Wisconsin, Ohio State, Georgia, Illinois...etc....beatdown Utah 66-3 on Saturdays is a money loser....hopefully this system is in place within the next 2 yrs.

New Mexico fan here. Major congratulations to the Bulldogs! What a win and a great one for the Mountain West! I have long said the Mountain west would be a massive conference but they never allow us into the bowl championship series etc. this has caused the MTN west/ WAC to lose TCU, Utah, and teams like BYU way back when

Fresno State ball games are many things, but they are never, ever boring.
Fresno State has been a tough out for big teams ever since I can remember, and that dates back to the early 1980s. They had two 11-win seasons in a 4-year stretch back in the PCAA days, including a 10-4 win (yes, in football, not baseball) over Oregon in '82. Only schedule them if you want a real challenge.
They aren't scheduling them for the ratings.

This win opens up a lot of possibilities for fresno state. They need to keep that offense going and improve their secondary. But if they beat both Boise and Arizona st. And not fall to trap games in their conference. They have a good chance at running the table to a possible new year's eve bowl game

@zzlee08 games that team can easily win, but they either play down to their opponents or make mistakes that cause them to lose as a result. Clemson loss to duke from this past week is a perfect example.

FS played great...taking nothing away from their play. But Purdue hires this coach because of his defensive prowess, and they give up almost 500 yards of total offense and 39 points at home? One game, but that was brutal. Sure hope this was an anomaly and that they get things figured out.

It is natural to overlook these smaller schools.....if they had to play a Big 10 schedule....they wouldn't win 1 game.

That "smaller school" won its conference championship last year. I doubt Purdue "overlooked" looked them. That game was a shootout and won in the last minute of the game.

They did overlook them, it is human nature....and I don't even like Purdue....but as I stated they would be a non factor if they played a BIG 10 schedule.....just like Vanderbilt is a non factor in their conference. Man, I popped in to check out the game highlights but didn't realize this was a Fresno site. I think 95% of the comments were Fresno fans.
Because Purdue fans just don't care anymore.
Here at purdue i was worried about the offense. Having a DC for a head coach that drove ILL to a top defense i thought we would be good on that side of the ball. A real disapointment from the defense. It was fun to finally see some big plays from the offense and special teams. Still happy Brohm is gone. He had no heart in Purdue football.
Fresno state got paid a ton of money to go beat Purdue. What a ROI for them!

Not sure why Stanford and cal refused to join the mountain west. Quality programs in that conference. Now they have to have a long flight back after every beat down when they could of had a short turn around in the mw.
They look for an all year challenge which is appreciated......of course when the Big 10 and SEC absorb the best of the ACC and Big 12 both of those teams will be kicked back to the 1B league....which is where Fresno State will be.
Fresno St. could easily be 8-0 going into the Boise St. game and will be favored against Boise. If they win that game they'll be ranked around 10th. Worst case they go 9-4. Purdue goes 4-8

Fresno State football competes well against P5 teams just ask Purdue, UCLA, Michigan State, Wisconsin, Nebraska, Arizona State, Oregon State, Oregon, Kansas, Alabama, Tennessee, Washington, Washington State, and USC. Anyone, anywhere and any time. Go dogs. Remember, HC Tedford is a dog 4 life, and he coached some of the best nfl qbs. B4 he came to Fresno State, he built Cal to a legit P5 team.

Entertaining game but terrible actions after the game. At least 20 arrests as they broke store windows and was trashing downtown West Lafayette. I hope Purdue loses every damn game this year! Congrats Dogs. Pretty hostile environment and played really well.
