    This ending right here should be shown to EVERY football team, teaching about why self-discipline is so important. Not just for players, but for coaches too. Purdue gave away that game acting stupid.

      Sounded like only 15 on the player. The other 15 were on Purdue’s head coach. Probably arguing with the ref about the unsportsmanlike a little too much.

      That last call was bad though, and since it was 4th down, it had the biggest impact. Ball was thrown out of bounds, and the DB made more effort to make a play than the WR. It either no-call hand fighting or uncatchable, but no way is that 15 for the offense.

      @@kieranwilson4769 That last PI was called on 3rd down, not 4th. And I didn't see that much effort by the DB to play the ball - he looked pretty tangled up with the receiver. The ball hit out of bounds at the 10 yard line - when it did, the receiver, who had been held up by the DB, was between the 11 and 12. Feels like that might have been a catchable ball had the receiver's route not been interfered with.

    Also that receiver for Purdue Charlie jones is a bad man. Purdue probably could’ve/should’ve had this one. Dumb penalties, an inexplicable pick-six, and a missed fg 🤦🏼

    87 for Purdue trash talking starting stuff before the game ends cost his team the game. Defense at that point is gassed and needs all the yards they can get between Syracuse offense and the end zone.

      @Endocher Perdue got away with a PI on the Syracuse drive before their last TD, literally gifting the Boilermakers that drive. Also that illegal formation call was bullshit. But go off about how Perdue's lack of discipline and failure to shut down the Syracuse offense at the end is the refs fault.

      There were a few bad calls both ways and while I’ll admit they were more in favor of us, Purdue still collapsed with those 2 unsportsmanlike conduct penalties that gave us good field position. And that was PI at the end of the game.

    I don't have any skin in this game but man were these refs ass in the last minute. The umpire staring right at obvious holding on a takedown by Syracuse #76 (5:22) but instead they call holding on the defense, and then follow it up with pass interference on a ball where the guy would have had to have been 12 feet tall to catch it at the 15 yard line. Purdue put the wrapping paper on the gift for Syracuse with those unsportsmanlike penalties but this ref crew finished it off with the bow on top.

      Not a fan of either team, but definitely some questionable calls there. The uncalled tackling, I mean holding, and that late PI flag smell like good ol home cooking. Credit to Syracuse for taken advantage. As for Purdue, need a little more discipline.

    Refs were shitting on Purdue all game. Twice they didn’t call PI on Syracuse interfering in the endzone, but so quick to throw flags on Purdue whenever Syracuse stalled. It all started with the overturned fumble call. “Let them play” for one team and “by the book” for another.

      Even if it wasn’t pass interference it’s holding, cb was all over the receiver. And it looked more like the cb was preventing the receiver from getting to his spot well past the 5 yard mark. Honestly could have gone either way, but more fault on the cb here for holding and grabbing

It doesn't matter if you're looking at the ball when you're interfering with someone (seeing the ball coming doesn't give you the right to touch the WR) and people ending up on the ground is irrelevant. This is like saying if someone held someone and fell down doing so, they didn't' really hold them, lol. Following this "logic" OL should just grab DL and fall to the ground every play taking them with them.

    dont follow any of these teams but the holding on 3rd and 10 was a gift. you can see 3 different syracuse linemen holding / tackling their guys on that play. and the following PI was questionable at best - ball was 5yds out of bounds
    purdue def put themselves in that position running their mouths though - unacceptable

      Freeze it at 5:49 or 5:50. You can see the impact of the ball on the orange stripe along the sidelines. That orange stripe looks to be about a yard wide (maybe a little more, but not a lot) and that ball lands right around the middle of it. That's about 1.5 feet, not 15.

      Completely agree. I am watching this as a Penn State fan and that final drive was just the refs picking Syracuse. The holding call should have been offset by the flagrant holding in the back field. As for the pass interference... Kinda looked like offensive pass interference.

    I am no purdue fan. But man did the refs have a predetermined decision on who was going to win this game.
    That 3&10 at 5:23 has one of the worst offensive holds you will ever see, right in front of a ref who "didnt see it" but saw a defensive hold 15 yards down the field. That last PI was pure B.S. too.

    Syracuse had a lot of "no-calls" of holding on that O-line some were right in front of the referee but his eyes were watching that QB scramble. #87 for Purdue you own this loss... you put them at midfield with little time to take. That was a pointless penalty to take...

      @@sbeaber What I was saying was ... if the QB releases the ball and the dback then interferes with the receiver's path -- then the ball, which otherwise might have hit the receiver in stride, can look like it was overthrown ... "uncatchable". But that's not what "uncatchable" is about: the ball becomes uncatachable only because of the dback's interference.
      I've looked at the replay several times and, to me, it's still not clear -- but it's a very possible explanation.

    On the 3rd down defensive holding there should have been offsetting penalties. Lineman tackled one of the pass rushers to buy his QB more time.

      It was a penalty on the field, regardless if the ball was catchable or not. You can't impede a receiver's route after 5 yards if your not making a play on the ball. It will be called everytime.

    First of all, The Play where it was called Pass Interference (BOTH PLAYERS) were actually out of bounds...SO what the HELL! secondly College Football IDEA of not showing Replays of Close Plays like the Game winning TD...just proves there is also an issue with WAS it A TD or NOT!!!!!! I can't tell because the angle was whacked...After watching this...I'd say APP STATE ending was WAY BETTER!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

    Purdue should never have lost this game. Late hit out of bounds penalty on the 3rd and 10 that gave Syracuse a first down and they ended up scoring a TD later on that drive.     So many people are complaining about the pass interference call on the play at 5:45. The ball wasn't uncatchable. It hit the ground less than a yard out of bounds. That WR is 6'5". You really don't think he couldn't have made a play on that ball if he wasn't being bear-hugged? Stop it. The flag was clearly stuck in the ref's pocket. He was trying to get it out immediately.

    A great game to be done in by penalties at the end. Players getting flagged, yeah that's dumb, but it happens. You CANNOT get a flag thrown on you if you're not even on the field (hello, ST coach). The HC needs to sit that man down for a game, to show the team that everyone is accountable. 15 extra yards would have been nice at the end.

      It sounded like the ref said 15 yards on the kicking team head coach. The announcers said special teams coach but I think they were incorrect. The head coach getting flagged is even more inexcusable.

      No, it wasn't. Look at the replay, the official was preparing to throw the flag but misplaced it, so they pulled the other flag out instead. It was clearly PI on the defender. It was a good call.

      It wasn't a catch. You need your whole foot inbounds. The difference between collegiate and pro is you only need one foot in bounds in collegiate football. NFL you need both feet. I'm a Syracuse fan and I knew it was getting overturned.

      Definitely PI but I also question whether it was catchable. I agree with @hartsickdisciple that it wasn't that far out of bounds, but the at the first moment of contact with the defender that ball was just about sailing 3-4 feet over their heads, and even if not contacted I don't think he would have caught up to it.

    Payne Durham, #87, seems like a really, really crappy person to compete against and have as a teammate. He had multiple instances where he was running his mouth, showing poor sportsmanship, showboating/celebrating disrespectfully, and in general being a bad teammate/competitor. He possibly cost them the game with the unsportsmanlike conduct penalty. I'd really hate to have him on my team because of the liability and chemistry issues.
    Like for real, you can't set him up for a good play because he might showboat afterwards and erase the progress with a penalty. He's a liability. It's sad to see a total lack of maturity like that.
