I’m sad to see the Pac-12 die. But I truly hope Pac-12 refs do not get to ref anymore games. They suck.
Remember when Minnesota played Fresno State in 2018 and 2019. Both games went to overtimes. Fresno State is tough.
As a Ducks fan, I always worried about playing Fresno St. Much respect!
We need to stop calling it an "upset" when Fresno State takes down a big team. As far back as I can remember -- which would be 1982 -- the Bulldogs have been a massive headache for "power conference" teams. They were still in the PCAA back then -- and took down Oregon, 10-4, as part of an 11-win season. They would have another 11-win season (an unbeaten one, in fact, at 11-0-1) in 1985, taking out Oregon State 33-24 that year. In 2005, Pete Carroll's best USC team, featuring Reggie Bush, made the mistake of inviting Fresno State to the Coliseum. #1 USC trailed #16 Fresno State 42-41 with 6 minutes left before Bush's heroics and a desperate defensive stand inside their own 20 let USC escape with a 50-42 win. They are a notoriously difficult out for power teams.

@@Cooe. Apparently so. I've seen other games where one team has a score of 4. One memorable one was when Penn State lost 6-4 to Iowa, missing a long FG on the last play that would have won them the game 7-6.

@aunttim2102 It reminded me of CJ strouds season opener vs Minnesota. He looked awful and the whole fanbase wanted him benched…then he got better as the season progressed. I’ll make my assessment after OSU plays Notre Dame

This Bulldogs team is going to be DANGEROUS with Mikey Keene under center. If he could play like he did against a Power 5 opponent like Purdue, then can you imagine what he's gonna do against Mountain West teams? 👀
errh .... not bursting your bubble, and all due respect to the bulldogs for a great game, but Purdue is not exactly a top Power 5. They are middle of the pack.
Boise State, Wyoming, and Air Force are the only possible teams in their way of winning the conference but I wouldn’t be surprised if Fresno State won the conference. Also I wouldn’t be surprised if Purdue wound up later on in the season upsetting a highly ranked opponent like they always seem to do. Purdue would be that sort of team to lose to an FCS/Group Of 5 team yet win against a top 10 opponent in the same year.
@@willmuny9201 just in the mountain west alone, SDSU and Boise beat up power fives about as regularly as Fresno does. SDSU typically plays the pac12 and has beaten UCLA, Utah, Arizona, Arizona St, Cal, Stanford all within the last 5 or 6 years. And I don't think I need to mention Boise's power five wins

no one said they were top power 5 lol. its the same reason Wyoming rushed the field for beating Texas Tech. MW and AAC teams rarely beat a power 5 team at the beginning of the year - thats why the power 5 schedules those easier games then. @@armandomendoza9028

Purdue has a new coach and a rebuild ahead of them. Its going to be a long year for Purdue fans. Jeff Tedford is a good coach and should have a good season.

Because Purdue is getting something like $50-60 million in TV revenue this year and Fresno is at like $4-5 million.

Just keep in mind, Fresno State has to recruit against a ton of fine Cal schools and West Coast unis. We recruit heavily from Cali's Central Valley. So its impressive that we get the quality of players that we do!!! Tedford is wonderful. Go Dawgs!!!!
That fourth-and-short play call was questionable. They had MOFC, and instead of sending the two inside and underneath the coverage, they sent him on a vertical route into double coverage, but they allowed the Will to sucker them by zone-dropping into the passing lane.

@@mattwilliams5773It was 37-17. South Alabama was 10-3 last season playing in an improved Sun Belt conference. In fact, if you took the win totals of everyone last year and all the matchups this week, the Tulane vs South Alabama game had the highest win totals combined.

Hardly an upset here. Fresno St. knows how to win. Purdue, despite all the hype and pumped-up coach(es), obviously have no clue. Fun game to watch.
Fresno St. could easily be 8-0 going into the Boise St. game and will be favored against Boise. If they win that game they'll be ranked around 10th. Worst case they go 9-4. Purdue goes 4-8

Not an upset. Vegas picked them by 3. Fresno is the better team. I know it's hard to imagine a mountain west team being better than a big ten team, and Purdue is certainly not the worst big ten team, but it's possible. Commentators and AP voters and fans might call it an upset, but Vegas always knows. It was a 50/50 game.
Purdue may have the 2nd or 3rd worst record in the Big10 this year.

Fresno state is a championship college. Maybe not in football yet, but baseball and softball speak for itself. They are worthy of some respect.
How embarrassing for Purdue. Losing to a city college on their homefield. Wow. This was their paid-for guaranteed win but, no, this coaching staff decided to teach Boilermaker fans a lesson: "We decide how our team plays, not you fans!" Humiliation on their homefield. Oh well... I'm sure they've got a great season in front of them.
