Honestly, I got up this morning, had a coffee and watched this vid. I decided I was gonna try my first 10k in a long long time. After going past mile 4, I started to struggle but I so badly wanted to comment on this vid that I pushed through by thinking comment comment comment! I finally made it, and as I sit here typing this, feeling knackered, just wanna go you and Emma a big thumbs up for taking me out of my jogging comfort zone 👍🏻
I paced a friend to a sub 45 10k the other week, and man I gotta say that feeling of helping someone achieve a goal they didnt think they could make is almost as good as running your own PB. So many people are more capable than they believe they are when it comes to achieving times
I got emotional watching this because i was rooting for her so hard, that mental barrier manifests physically when you're so close. hoping to break that sub 60 for the first time myself this weekend.
Really appreciate seeing people with similar times and targets to me being featured in running content! It makes me feel more like I "belong" and helps lessen the imposter syndrome I feel at events. Well done Emma!!!
I was literally just laid in bed, trying to find something to watch when I saw this video. I had no idea how relatable this would be, this has honestly inspired me to push myself harder.
having run the 2023 london marathon, absolutely understand the challenge that even 10km is and to do it in sub 60 mins is such a phenomanal achievemant. you should be incredibly proud of yourself. a champion.
This is going to be my goal- I’m currently at about 1:06 for my 10k which I was really happy with getting so I’m going to slowly but surely get to the 1 hour mark… one day!
Janet, I had four or five 1hr 04m-1hr 10m times under my belt as was going no where and then someone told me to build it up from scratch, Can I run a comfortable 2km run in 12 minutes? I did it with twenty seconds to spare. Ok, Can I do a 3km run in 18 mins? It took me a couple of goes at it but I did it. Then it was Can I do 4km in 24 mins, 5km in 30 mins etc and I kept doing longer runs at the same pace adding half a km here and there but they made me go past 10km. Can I do a 12km in 72 minutes? What they were doing is getting me use to the same pace but just using my growing fitness to go further and further. Once I had a dozen 12km runs under my belt then the step down to 10lm actually felt easy and I actually got three 10km race times of 55 minutes or there abouts. Its about improving your fitness, increasing your self belief and then just being comfortable with the pace. By the time I ran the 10km, I knew I could break the hour mark, it was just about by how far and how comfortable i could feel doing it. Good luck! We are behind you !
I never used to believe people who said that running is a mental sport more than a physical one. Then I started running! Lovely to see Emma crushing it, and feeling, but mastering (kinda!), the panic. X
The amazing thing about running is that no matter how fast or slow you are there is always someone who is faster or slower than you...At the end of the day it is all about breaking your personal limits and overtaking yourself.
Hi Emma and Harry, great running. I’ve struggled sub 30 for 5k, actually did 30mins dead but this inspires me to push on. Then a sub 60 for 10k is next, my best was 67 mins …. super inspiring!
Wahoo, fantastic effort Emma! I have also had the same goal for quite a while, and last weekend finally cracked the sub 60 too! Amazing achievement 👏🏻👏🏻
Running is so much about the mental game. Started running less than a year ago and I’m still surprised at how much my mental state can change my speed. Some days I just want to push through pain, some days I want to dial it back. Amazing job Emma on crushing your PB and getting under 60!
Its one the hardest things to achive when setting these targets for your self. That mental pressure you place yourseld under than have such a physical effect. Felt so much the last few years chasing goals in triathlon when it was so much about the time you loose the pasison for it and enjoyment and the reason why you started doing ti in the first place.
Well Done Emma & brilliant video Harry, my story is very similar, I'm a 53 year old lady and started CT5k during the first lockdown with my husband's encouragement (he is a very keen runner & did the London Marathon this year). I try and do the Parkrun each week but get very nervous, I obtained my goal of a Sub 30 in April 2022 and today ran 28.35, 5 secs off my PB. I am entered into a 10k race in July and would love to achieve a Sub 60, my previous PB is 1.02.50 on a flat course whereas the one in July is quiet hilly. My husband is going to pace me and says I shouldn't get hung up about the time, just enjoy it & soak up the atmosphere of a bigger race, I know I'll be very nervous on the day but watching your video has really inspired me, if I don't achieve it in July I'm sure one day with determination I will.
Oh my goodness you can so do it!! My fastest times ironically were always on hilly ones that I enjoy. Thank you so much and I hope you smash your goal in July 🥰

When I have a really good run I have a pace of 6.00/km and I often feel a little looked down at by these kind of channels, but I love this positive attitude and the vibe of your videos! Hope to see you once at a running event in The Netherlands (like the CPC The Hague, or the fun run KLM Urban Trail in one of our cities 🏃♂️
Yeah, that's what I like about this channel, it also shows less experienced or fast runners. It feels more realistic for me, and like I am not as slow.
These type of videos are so touching, I don’t know if it’s the stories, the editing, or the full thing, but they’re brilliant. I genuinely get goosebumps from seeing the people achieve the goals, and can only applaud you for helping to get them there. Keep up the fantastic work, and hats off to Emma for her new PB!
Great video Harry. I've always been a few minutes outside a sub-60 10Km and sub-30 5km. Whilst I know I could train differently and no doubt more productively, I am convinced the main issue I struggle with is purely the mental block I put in front of myself.
My last fastest time was 37.50 in 95 then 97 stopped running then started smoking quit in 2015 and started running again but rimes no where near to what was achieved then but in April recorded my fastest 10k since with 1.11 my ambition is Sub 60 minutes in the next few years.Well done Emma brilliant achievement.

Well done Emma!! I’ve yet to break 60mins in the 10k - I bet it felt fantastic! I am inspired now 🙌
All the best with chasing it down Anna
Curse you Harry. A 38 year old bloke with a tear in his eye as she crosses the line!
Bit older, but same.
Same....
Bit younger, but same :-) well done!

Another of your videos has made me tear up! Wonderful stuff ❤
Ben, thank you for watching my videos
So much to see in this video! The fellow Lordshill road runner, what my gallery was currently showing near the start line and just before Harry mentions the Barge, he passes the blue gas monument made by the foundry (Tickells) that my school took its name from! Awesome stuff!
Love that video, well done Harry and well done Emma!👌
Thanks Tony

👊

…
Harry, I recently watched you being paced by 2 Elites in the Winter 10k, so it was great to see you pay it forward and help Emma shave 1-Hour by over a Minute ✅❤️
Thanks for watching both. ‘Running quickly’ is so perspective based as you can see.
All the best to you
